Few Questions

Sorry for a few more questions but this honestly seems the best place to get fast and honest answers.

I grouped up recently to do a few misisons, this was really fun and we wern't farming it was just all of us in close level range doing missions, seems to be where CoH shines the most IMO.

When I create a team how do I set an active mission or find team missions?
What is the best way to find teams to do missions and not AE farming?

Few unrelated questions:
I have the police scanner but it only worked when I was working for a detective and now when I use it, it says it can't find anything.

where do I go to craft items?

Click 'Missions' on your navbar thingy, click on a mission you wanna do, then click the little button at the bottom of that window (I think it says something like 'Activate Task' or some such... it's red, IIRC). To get the missions themselves, either get a mission from a contact, or from the newspaper/radio.

You can use broadcast, your search comment (easy to set when you're not on a Team in the Team window... also set your LFT status in that window!), as well as forming your own teams with the Search window (button on the team window, or type /search).

Each zone has a different level range for which the police scanner will work.. there's always going to be a zone where you can get scanner missions (well, after level 5!). Also, remember that you can only have 3 missions at a time, as well as only 1 police scanner (radio) or newspaper mission at a time.

Also, welcome to the game!

It likely says that everything is "beneath your notice" or something. It means you've outleveled the zone's scanner missions. Head to another zone.

To set an active mission, click on "Mission" in your navbar, highlight a mission, and click "select task" or something to that efect.

People will argue as to whether or not Pick Up Groups are good. Personally speaking, I have the most fun doing Pick up Groups... just call out in broadcast that you're looking for members for your X-Level mission/scanner team.

Thank you, Champion.

To craft items you need to go to a university (either Steel Canyon or Cap au Diable depending on hero/villain). Once you're level 10 you'll get a contact there who will give you a few missions to explain the process.

Crafted items in this game are called Invention Origin Enhancements (IOs for short). They aren't required for any content in the game and they don't give much advantage over regular enhancements until you hit at least level 30. Personally I tend to use regular enhancements until I hit 50 then go all out and upgrade with IOs. I'd recommend getting a strong grip on the rest of the game before worrying to much about crafting.

Also, be aware that getting top end IOs is extremely expensive, fortunately it's pretty easy to make money either through farming or becoming an ebil marketeer depending on which you prefer. Many people opt to do neither an use either cheap IOs or SOs which is also a perfectly viable option.

Also, the Scanner won't give anything in Atlas or Galaxy...

Thank you for the time...

Scanner missions won't be available until you're outside the start zones (Galaxy/Atlas/Mercy)

Just for completeness sake, there's also a University in Croatoa (go raging sallies!), as well as a few 'Abandoned Labs' on red side which serve the same function as a University.

(were there any other unies in Paragon? I thought there were 3...)

There is also one in Founder's Falls. I was just listing the ones with the tutorial contact since I figured the OP would want to do that first .

There's also Invention Tables, the thing required to make inventions, in the Vanguard base, and you can place them in your own supergroup base.

Every server has global channels specific to that server for teams, task forces, etc. Infinity, for example, has a channel called AE ANONYMOUS which is specifically for forming non-AE teams. I can tell you lots of other helpful channels on Infinity but that won't help if you're on another server.

Each server has a forum section dedicated to it, with all kinds of useful information. You could try asking in there what channels are recommended for your server.

Please note that the Vanguard base has TWO different kinds of crafting tables: the regular invention tables and the Vanguard ones for buying items with Vanguard Merits.
