CO Beta has been out since around November, unless you were referring to "open" beta, which just started this week. They do have some cool stuff in that game, but, you're right. Nothing compares to Khelds.

Although they may put something in the game to try and compare to it, this game is the one that has my support, and the one I'll remain addicted to.

It's only natural for the release of a new game to garner the attention of the curious, so that's not a big suprise. The "suprise" will be if it actually manages to HOLD their attention. That's the true test.

I'm in the Open Beta for now, and probably will get the lifetime subscription. They don't currently seem to have Kheldians, but they do let you choose your own powers, and you can have blasts of several types and the freedom to mix and match is intoxicating at the moment, despite your ability to make a truly gimped character.

That said, the Umbra Illuminati did hold its All Kheldian SG night last night, and we ran a few missions before each going our separate ways.

I'm going to enjoy playing both CoX and CO because they're both different and supply different Superhero needs for me. If you can afford it, it seems like a win/win, and if you're in for the long run on both games, I recommend getting a lifetime subscription for CO, and a yearly (+2 free months) subscription for CoX.

And then... there's StarTrek Online and SW:ToR... oiy!

I believe that a Kheldian Gold Standard should be based on SO's, and for anything above that... there's Platinum!

Neither in mine... which is why I stopped feeling guilty for subscribing to a game and not spending every minute in it

Yeah I played for about 4 days and I kept going why is this not like coh. The quest are too much like WoW and the customization is just plain bad. The powers are not as fun as CoH. and there is not enough strategies with the power combos. And the story is sooo corny there..
Its just my opinion but for me CoH stays on top.

ps : the customization is not THAT bad its just there seems to have less options there a part from the model size customisation.

I don't have the patience to try Beta stuff, here or anywhere else. A few months down the road, if everyone says that CO is the Uberestest Thing Evar (and they've started isolating and working on the bugs) then I *might* give it a try. But the looming changes for CoH are really holding my attention - and I only have time for one

The population can't be down that much. Their "open" beta isn't all that open. Given the friends I have that I play COH with went in, tried it, and gave it a universal "this is awful," I have no reason to wander over there. (Not that I'd planned to to begin with, for multiple reasons.)

Now, APB, SGW (if it ever gets out) or KOTOR? Sure...

I'd definitely say it's much less streamlined and less organized of an gameplay experience than CoH, but that's because CO is trying something different than CoH, so I wouldn't call it "awful".

Well... not unless you have a PC with specs lower than the minimum required, because CO is quite demanding!

Same thing happened when The Burning Crusade came out for Wow (that was the last time I played Cox-but back now:P), I doubt many will stay on CO, well apart from those with spare cash that is
It really feels like a console game, I feel it's been aimed at the wow-types mainly...the first time the game asked me to hammer the "z" key to free myself from a hold I was confused-had I loaded streetfighter IV instead?
I get the nasty feeling we are being used as the beta for the impending console release...
It certainly does not feel like an mmo, some hit the nail on the head when they said it was a hybid of AoC and Diablo....

My experience is the same. Unofficially of course. >.>

I don't personally know anyone who's bothering with CO. I can understand a small blip while people check out the new kid, but leaving? Naw.

Just because it feels like a console game, that's not necessarily a bad thing. For example, I actually like pressing a button/key to break free from a hold because it simulates better the concept of struggling against a hold. The whole idea of having a "Break Free" inspiration that doesn't require me to do anything but press just one button to activate it has always seemed quite un-heroically simplistic to me and the first time I saw Inspirations in CoH I was instantly reminded of power-ups in old arcade games.
