The Kickers base on Guardian

Hello. After some three weeks of work I have now finished the revamp of the Kickers base. We used to have a base that was fully functional but, in my humble opinion, a bit boring.

After reading what the rest of you have done with your bases I set up a training area and started stacking and learning by doing. The result will come below in a series of posts.

First the entrance room.

I like to keep the entrance room simple but clean. A few seats and such.

To the west we have the workshops. More from them later.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-10-37.jpg

To the north we have the living quarters, control room and such. More from there to later.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-10-26.jpg

To the east we have the TP rooms and, you guessed it, more later.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-10-31.jpg

To the south we have our medical bay. This is the view of the entrance.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-10-46.jpg

I think we'll start here.

This is the entrance from the inside. A small waiting area we're you can sit and read a book while your valiant companions get better after fighting pesky villains.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-11-06.jpg

If we turn around we see the reclaimator with the robo surgeons, auto doc and to the left the combat logs.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-11-27.jpg

Above the waiting room there's the medical bay control room.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-11-41.jpg

The stairs up to the control room. Also the door to the radiation lab and cell block.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-12-27.jpg

The inside of the control room with a good view of what's going on in the med bay.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-12-43.jpg

Back down the stairs we see the door to the radiation lab but also the storage closet in the med bay. Let's start there.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-12-13.jpg

Not much to see really.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-13-16.jpg

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-13-22.jpg

Two floors of generators and stuff we put away for a rainy day.

Where was I? Oh.. The radiation lab.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-07-25-54.jpg

We see the radiation lab ahead with the stairs to the rad lab control to the left the cell block to the right and just by my big giant head the sanitation room for when you absolutly have to go inside the radiation chamber.

And what the control room upstairs looks like. All the equipment you need for an afternoon of fun with radiation.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-07-26-04.jpg

Underneath the control room there's a observation area. If you're into radiation, but lack the proper training.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-07-26-13.jpg

The door to the sanitation chamber. When you go in (and hopefully out of) to the radiation lab.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-07-26-22.jpg

And inside said lab. Nothing much, just tech stuff.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-07-26-32.jpg

Did I mention we have a block of cells? This is the door to that area.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-14-22.jpg

There are four cells. Either to put troublesome villains or fellow heroes struck down by some terrible disease. A view of the top two cells.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-14-30.jpg

And inside one of the cells. Not very comfy, but they aren't supposed to be comfy.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-15-03.jpg

Time to leave the medical bay.. Oh ignore that..
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...9-06-14-39.jpg
Every supergroup worth its name has stuff they just have no idea of where to put.

Tomorrow I'll fix pictures of the rest of the base. Tell me what you think.

Jack, great work! I can see the attention to detail you were referring to. For example, the floor colors were changed, the wall/trim all changed for the better I think. I am going to steal your TP idea, hope you don’t mind?

Some links aren’t working BTW.

All links work for me .

Anyways.. Thanks for the praise Turbo. I'm just about to log in and get more screenies.

Ok. Now for the rest of the base. First a picture of the entire layout.
Overview. I have tried to keep the entrance in the center and the important areas where we run most often, med bay, TP room and workshops in close proximity of the entrance. The parts for the running of the base and what's there just to please the eye is further aways.

Telportation rooms

The TP room from the entrance room.

TP pad close up. Notice the angled beacons and buffed up pads.

TP rooms main control. Everything in our base has something that runs it. Sure, we all have generator rooms and control rooms, but I like to have something close that gives help to the imagination that this is technology at work.

TP control I and a second view. I like thó think that people work here. And often long hours so a little kitchen unit is often seen.

High level pads with an administration desk close by.

The TP rooms engineering part. It's locked.

The TP rooms secondary control room. If the first one fails for any reason. Remember we're talking technology here.

The inside of said room. And the view from the main hall.

The Workshops

Actually two workshops.

View from the entrance room.

Overview from the entrance. This first room is for salvage and inspiration storage as well as the empowerment stations.

Closer view of the stations.

If we turn around... We see the door to the second workshop and the door to the salvage storage.

The inside of the storage room. Lots of stuff in here as it should be.

The door to the second workshop.

Overview of the second workshop. This is for enhancememt making and storage. Floating plattforms ftw!

Oh look. The old invention database. Probably only has info on base salvage.

The personal enhancement tables. Notice the invention table in there. No more running around in the workshop going from table to table.

More storage bins. From these six bins we can take what we need and put down what we don't need for the enjoyment of our fellow Kickers.

What's a workshop with out a real invention? Behold the prototype research ATV.

Then we have the main hall, connecting the entrance room with the rest of the base. I went for naked brick here. Kinda like the color you know.

The Park and Meditation area

Posted earlier on these forums but you get a few shots anyway.

An overview.

Some dense folia.. Foil.. Trees.

Water comes in. And water goes out.

All this screenshoting and Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V is wearing me out. Notice the atrwork in the middle of the stream.

The Living Quarters

We're not that big of a supergroup but we have enough steady members, and a fun bunch at that, so I figured we all could have our own little place to call home in the base. Most of our members live outside the base in their own place, but after a hard night on monitor duty you might want to crash in your own little dorm room.

What the view is from the park. Balconies run all the way around the complex so you if you have super speed you don't have to holler "TP to mah room!!11!".

Main street.

Closer view of the balconies.

The square. Notice the small seating area where you can sit and chat with your fellow heroes. Or have a BBQ party.

We recycle in the Kickers.

If your stay is longer you may need to go to the store to get the bare necessities. Some furniture on display so the members have an idea on what tho choose from.

Some fridges and other comsumables. You pay with credits, like: "Two cases of beer? That'll be one night on monitor duty. Without the beers."

If you don't want to muddle up your brain with beer why not a book? We have a small library. 'Scuse the mess.

One of the perks of being a Kicker is the free broadband internet connection. And if you don't have the endurance to carry the books all the way back to your room, you can head to the roof. And sit here to read or chat.

The Kickers members haven't moved in yet, but they are fighting for the sweetest rooms. Only my place is furnished now. Not much. But it gets the job done.

The Mansion

In my mind the Kickers used to live in mansion earlier (yeah I know). And loving this old place so much it was moved into the current base.

View from the main hall.

There a small park area outside, where you can sit and drink coffe or just escape those boring SG meetings that drag on for hours.

The mansion is a two floor building with a balcony. Inside on the ground floor we have the old meeting room. With a small kitchen unit for coffee and snacks. Since Ulli comes here we have a cookie jar with a dimensional shift so it never runs out. This is the stairs to the top floor.

Here we have the resturant and lounge. The resturant is raised from the lounge to give the loungers some extra privacy. To cut down on personal costs the kitchen of the resturant is of the self-serve varity. We can comfortably sit 32 to eat. And after hours we can clear the floor and start up the DJ booth. You noticed there wasn't 32 seats in the resturant huh? Well... We have a balcony here. There twelve heroes can sit under the stars, or at least outside.. Sort of.

The Base Control Room

The base main control room is situated just beyond the mansion. It's pretty big. The main control station is pretty big too. There's usually a lot going on with the different Kickers members so we have to have more control. Like one or two more stations just to keep up.

The Generator Room

The very heart of the base. Here seen from the control room. The control area for the big twin turbine generators. The main station with locked door to the generator room proper. What? I can't help you lack the training to enter. Well... Here's at least a view through the glass.

The Hangar and Trophy Room

Is the last room in the base (unless I have forgotten something) here seen from the control room. The overview with the trophy room on the left and the hangar to the right. In the trophy room you can sit and remeniss of the glory filled past or read up on current events.

Well I hope you have enjoyed the trip through the Kickers base. Feel free to take one of these fliers to get back home. I hope the hangar doors open. Maybe they need some oil? I'll start up the automated service drone. Isn't it cute?

Thanks for the read. Hope you liked it.

I really like your hangar door, and the SG logo floor plates in your room gave me an idea - SG logo comforters for better-looking beds.

Edit - I see that you had the same idea... I didn't notice that was a bed the first time around.

wow that's awesome Jack. I love the sealed off energy room. Was there a trick to that door or is it new and I just haven't played with my base in too long?

oo and the control center! I thought I went over the top with supercomputer, AES, Monitorbank, megamonitor and 2 holodisplays . Yours looks better though

Thanks for the praise guys.

@Psychic Guardian: The doors are the bathroom doors found in the wall details menu. I just built them into a wall and stuck a small cabinet over the 'Men' sign. If you're going to use the idea remember they are invisible from behind but you can stick another set to the back of the first one.

cool, thats what I guessed but I wasn't sure. ooo and I have plenty of experience with the one way wall details. I guess you could say Psychic Guardian 'fortified' a few doorways with his forcefields over at the Templar Knights so you have to know precisely where to walk to gain entry .

Awesome Job Jack!!

I'm not one for "Tech" stuff in the base, but you've blended it and done it in a way that even I like. The attention to detail, creative use of items, and textures makes this a worthwhile look.

(starts making a list of things to ste...borrow)
