Synergy with Dark Melee
Well, my character is currently sitting at 29. To be honest, I'm rather unimpressed.
Besides Against All Odds (this is the only power I love in Shield Defense ), it seems Shield Defense is just not the set for my play style. Furthermore, I just remembered that I do not have nearly enough budget on blue side for this project. I forgot that all my CoH currency resides on the red side.
As a result, I'm considering working on a new build with Dark Melee. While thinking about secondaries, though...I thought about Electric Aura.
How would Electric Aura fit with Dark Melee? Especially since we're getting a buffed version for Scrappers with Issue 16, I was thinking it would work well with Dark Melee.
Any thoughts?

You gave up before you got Shield Charge?!
Seriously, that is one of the most pure fun powers in the game. I'll log into my SD/Elec brute just to shield charge at stuff for a few minutes. It is Fun on a Bun.

Take the silly ticket cap off AE and we will see the market in better shape. When AE first hit everyone was freaking out because of hitting 50 in a day, but a nice side benefit was all the great recipes we were able to get for cheap.

I do plan on rolling an Elec/Shield Brute/Scrapper in the future.
It's just Shield is not looking good for me for my current purposes.
On that note, how's Regeneration with Dark Melee? Is it able to stand toe-to-toe with AVs?

DM/Regen was FotM when I started playing because people were using it to solo GMs. Since then a lot has changed but I'd imagine it was still doable. DM/Regen has stupid levels of survival and if you could get Perma DP you'd be well away. I know a Claws/Regen that's been soloing AVs so I dont see why DM cant

They're now putting it all together.

Uhh... Yeah... If you're good with it, DM/Regen can keep on ticking when everyone else has fallen over and stopped twitching.
At any rate, under current conditions, the less you depend on defense bonuses as the key element you want from your IO sets, the easier you will find it to develop your character. ...Defense bonuses are powerful, but they are hard to come by under current conditions, so characters that have other ways to improve might be the way to go.

And, FWIW, I didn't really start enjoying the DM/SR scrapper either until I had gotten all three of the Numina, Miracle, and Performance Shifter endurance enhancements. This is on top of Dark Consumption. And, of course, all that stuff had to be bought with merits as well; if I pooled the influence on all my level 50 heroes, they still wouldn't be able to get one of those recipes from the AH. ... This is another factor that argue against choosing /SR, IMO.

Other indications that ur doing it wrong: If you bought those three recipes with merits you spent more than 600, which rolled would likely have gotten you far more riches. Even targeted merit purchasing could've earned you quite a bit--selecting minimum or maximum levels of those recipes, selling them, then buying a cheaper recipe in the middle and pocketing the change. Although the price has ballooned recently, I've seen a gap of almost 100 million between different levels of Miracle uniques.

Wow, I should check prices more often. My 50 troller is choking on Performance Shifters and Efficacy Addaptors from Bronze Rolls.

I just started playing my DM/SD toon again, and got him to 32 last night. I gotta say- Soul Drain is teh sexy! It's like a DIY Fulcrum Shift!
Up until Soul Drain, the set feels kinda blah. Partially because the one AoE performs like a weaker version of Sands of Mu (unslotted) and partially because the attack animations and sounds are rather lackluster. They lack the wild sizzle of hack someone with a sword or impaling them on gushing spines. But, if you're not one to worry about cosmetics, dont sweat it.
