DB/SR help

Logged on to my DB/SR last night after a while of not playing him and realised I had almost finished IO's him up. So a couple of mil more and he was done. Am V happy. He is tough and spits out lots of dmg.

But his end is a bit of a prob, I get pretty much drained fighting EBs. Any suggestions to help this?

Will dropping elude for CP help much? the recharge will still be quite long.

Which sets could I pick up for end recov without sacrificing my Def

Here are my thoughts upon looking over your build. I've got a DB/SR brute, so they come from personal experience.

I'd personally swap those crushing impacts for Makos bite, for the +defense set bonuses. I tend to prioritise soft capping over +recharge, especially as DB is plenty fast enough as it is. Along those lines, i'd put Obliteration into the AoE/Cone attacks.

Bearing this in mind, I'd drop the fighting pool, as that is what's going to drain your endurance. If you can softcap through the suggestions above, Weave becomes obsolete if you're at 45% defense, and thus just a drain on your blue bar. I also think regardless that tough is pretty redundant on an SR, presuming that you're going to softcap them. I'd just carry oranges

I'd slot the passives with 3x Luck of the Gambler pieces, for +HP and +Regen set bonuses.

Also, 4 slotting stamina with 2x End mod, 1 Performance Shifter End Mod and the Performance Shifter Proc makes for a nice +end set bonus, and the +endurance proc is really quite noticeable.

It's worth 6 slotting elude for another full set of Red Fortune if you ask me, but YMMV.

Afterthought: Do you have the 2 +end accolades? They can really make a difference to your overall recovery, alongside any +max end set bonuses

I was under the impression that the devs removed the penalties of both this and Magus/Demonic quite some time ago.

Have never seen mine drop when using it, and I run "watch attributes" for defense figures all the time in case of debuffs, but perhaps my memory is failing me

Edit: They probably have not changed the descriptions, though! A common occurance

Checking in game, it still debuffs defense. What's you're probably remembering is the issues that surrounded Eye of the Magus in which it once said that it reduced your recharge rate even after they removed the recharge rate reduction.

I tinkered on Mids a bit and got made a few changes:

The main point was that Blinding Feint was very badly slotted. You need it to hit, and you want to spam it as much as possible. The Gaussians set has no Acc, so yeah.

I also dropped Elude. Mostly bacause after softcapping it's only helpful in a very small number of situations. Rularuu Eyeballs, veng-ed up Nemesis troops, Rad blast enemies... . That makes up for the def lost in removing the Gaussians set.

I dropped Tough because I figured the slots could be used better in the passives, where I put some LoTG pieces (no +rech, you don't need any more +rech to run BF->Attack Vitals which is the 2nd best attack chain you can get on DB, IIRC) for the regen and +hp.

Overall, you lost a little survivability (you still have plenty left though :P) and gained in damage and recovery.

here's my rework of your build, it keeps everything except elude (switched for CJ) which is basically redundant with soft-cap'd def, moves a few slot's arround, not to be mean, but your slotting for BF sux, BF needs to hit to be effective and this has acc in it now and massive rech, you'll notice that PB is perma with'out rech in it so the endred in it will help end issues, also it's travel-powerless but you can get a Jet-Pack in FBZ anytime you want so that's a moot point, it increases your DDR values, and only uses Tough as a Steadfast mule and way to get Weave, makes full use of Health, and runs at a nice .71/s drain with a sweet 3.42 rec, with 47. (4-8) def

Wow, Thanks for all the suggestions. I put the build up cos I knew it had gaping holes in it. I can suck it up and deal with being told I am a muppet.

Never been to worried about not having a travel power. This guy was rolled just after I did my VEAT 1-50 in the first 2 weeks of launch so was not as obsessed with them. He still has the temp travel powers if he needs some vertical movement =)

I know BF was an issue. As I said, I logged onto him after my 6 months break and that is what he had.

I take it you all seem to mean, have tough, put the steadfast in it, but dont run it?

And cheers for the tip on the export. Was wondering which format to use.

Now to go make some money to buy what I need. Prices seemed to have risen a bit during my abscence...

One other quick question, what lvl should these hancies be?

Is it better spend the cash and get em all lvl 50s? or should I get the procs lower so they exemp down (never know what I may end up doing with the char)

If you're 5-6 slotting things, there's very little difference in a 35 and a 50. I only slot 50s if it's something that only requires one or two slots, otherwise I usually buy 35 - 49, whatever is cheapest. The few percentage points lost won't make that much difference. Also, 50s are the most expensive to craft, though they tend to the most abundant in terms of recipes and crafted IOs...sometimes you can get quite a bargain by buying 50s.

Yep. You get the +def even if Tough is not running, and that way you save some end and slots, which /SR usually needs desperately.


I agree with Fury_Flechette about IO levels. I try to get mine in the 35-40 range so I can exemp down a little and still have most set bonuses, but getting what is cheap is a bigger priority.

I'm a fan of slotting and using Tough, but I'm also a fan of being unkillable. I guess it depends on where you want to draw the line between that and other things you want out of the build.

And I'll third what Fury Flechette said about IO levels. I buy 50s, but that's because I have this insane need to have the best, even if the best means an extra 0.05% smashing/lethal resistance, for instance. If you don't share that particular insanity, and ever plan to exemplar, you're better off with lower level stuff.

I buy and craft level 50 recipes so I can go and sell them for an additional cost to people with Werner's mindset while using level 35s myself.
