Is anyone in Freedom having "issues"?

Ever since the patch, patch retraction, patch reapplication, I've been having problems in-game. I rubberband a LOT. I hit a keystroke and it's either not recognized, or it activates seconds later. Moving across a zone is difficult (though it smooths out a little about halfway during my trip). I also have all those little glitches you experience when you're about to get a mapserver error (lag, screen not updating, etc.).

I really don't know if it's the server, my computer, or my internet connection. I tried running the speedtest.net site and it's showing great ping times and transfer rates, and it shows them consistently. But I'm still having problems. If many other users are having difficulties, I will probably chalk it up to the server or client. But if everyone's playing normally, then I'll have to do some heavy troubleshooting to see what's wrong.

I have been having some speed issues for a little bit now. I suggest opening a ticket with support. They are going to walk you through a script to determine where the problem lies. If you want to save a little time, do these steps and put them in your ticket:

Answer these questions when you put in your ticket:

-How do you connect to the internet?

-Do you use DSL, cable, dial-up, satellite, or another connection method?

-Do you use any routers, hubs, or switches? If so, could you tell us the make and model of that equipment?

-Who is your Internet service provider?

-Where are you located? Your city and state/province would be helpful.

-Are you on a home, campus, business, or military network?

-Are you using a firewall application? If so, which one?

-Do you use any Internet Security Applications (ISA) such as CYBERsitter, "Net-Nanny," ZoneAlarm®, McAfee® or Norton™?

As well as doing a HiJack This

1. Download the program HijackThis from the following link:

http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

2. Click the “Do a system scan and save a logfile” button.

3. Once the scan is complete, a text logfile will appear in Notepad. Save this file to your Desktop.
(Attach this file to your support ticket)

Then do Ping Plotter for them:

There is a free trial program called PingPlotter Standard that may be of some use to us in determining the health of your Internet connection while playing City of Heroes. We ask that if you are using a router, hub, or switch, to first disconnect this device and connect directly to your modem before running this utility. You may have to reboot your modem and/or computer to reestablish your Internet connection. This program is not supported by NCsoft. You can find the program and information on how to use it at http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html

Please follow these instructions to run this test for us:

1. Go here: http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html

2. Click "Ping Plotter Standard" and save that file to your desktop

3. Run the file you just saved and install the program

4. Open Ping Plotter

5. Find the "Address to Trace" section in the upper-left corner of the program window

6. Input the IP address and then click "Trace"

-If you play on Freedom, Infinity, Liberty, Pinnacle, Triumph, or Victory, type in the IP: 216.107.248.3

-If you play on Champion, Guardian, Justice, Protector, or Virtue, type in the IP: 216.107.240.3

7. Launch City of Heroes and play the game for at least 30 minutes

8. Once the 30 minutes has elapsed, please switch over to PingPlotter and click the "Stop" button.

9. Click on "File," then "Save Sample Set" and save the file to your desktop
(Attach this file to your support ticket)

Don't bother - it's on their end, and CoX support knows it. They acknowledged as much in a email posted on the technical questions board. All the East Coast servers are spitting out red spikes in Netgraph for some players, and the tech guys are 'working on it'. I just hope they figure it out soon, cuz Freedom is my favorite server, and right now it's unplayable for me.

Link, please. I see intermittent issues, but it hasn't been enough to deter gaming for me (a mission's length of time will be borked, and then get better, but YMMV). If there's a discussion on this, I'd like to see it to offer my two cents.

Playing other games, other servers, streaming video, etc.. I only notice the problem is related to Freedom as well, I just think the hardware on thier side is degrading or the local ISP in the area is having growing pains. You can pretty much tell when a UFO, Hammi, or Event weekend is happening .... bottle necks all to heck.

Nice, what's funny, is before I found this thread, I had been bugging the living hell out of my Internet provider, even though my download speed is 22MBPS and my upload speed is 12MBPS, I was still convinced that it had something to do with my service. Guess I can leave them alone now and get on with it.

I just checked both Freedom and Virtue.

BIG difference. Red spikes on Freedom and smooth green grass on Virtue. Good to know it's not me.

It isn't just Freedom. Infinity is having issues such as these as well. Really makes gaming with friends unplayable when it takes 5sec+ to activate abilities or you rubberband back to your starting point constantly.

Whatever it is, it's something that has happened within the last week or half of a week because in both locations that I play CoX it's ran stable and smooth for well over 3+ years now.
