/rad universally good?
I think those times are time force challenge times which did not count the security chief mission due to the randomization of finding the key introducing too much variability within the competition. FWIW, our regular group which doesn't optimize in team builds regularly does it in about 35-40 min without doing anything special. If everyone brought out their shiny toons and didn't bring their 45 for xp I suppose we might break the 30 min mark including all the missions.
I have done an all fire/rad STF - it was pretty fast as I recall (except for LR - who caused us some headaches) however our time was with a 'normal' team, maybe DJ has still got the screeny for it. To be fair we did have nukes and shivs.
27 minutes per a comment here, although the team wasn't all /Rad, there was one /FF.
Think of rad like the potato. Normal lunch nothing fancy: french fries. Nice dinner steak and baked potato. In the mood for Italian: gnocchi. Breakfast: hash browns. Downhome good: fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Comfort food: pot roast with carrots and potatoes. A nice hearty winter dinner: Scalloped potatoes. Hop over the pond: Shepherds Pie.
It's the all around set that just makes everything a little better but it doesn't bind you into just one type of "dinner". With rad you have choices. |
as an irish man with a love of the /rad emish set, the above brought tears to my eyes, it was beautiful.
Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.
screw your joke, i want "FREEM"
A few comments:
- One thing that /rad is not so good at is AE farms. The fact that you have to relying a lot on anchors to do your magic makes you very vulnerable to team members attention. Compared to sets like /kin (but others as well) that do not have this limitation, it's a bit behind. That certainly doesn't make it a bad set for it though.
- /rad is certainly a must have for any TF.
- Concerning the speed record on STF, I would be surprised to see a well-built team of defenders taking on it. Reichsman was down in 3 minutes recently and team doesn't even have a kin.
There we are - I finally found it 27:09 .

Kins are useful too. I gotta cast Fallout off of somebody, right? ;-)

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Yours is a pretty amazing time, though. Was it a team of Fire/Rads? Or some other combination? I could see something like 7 Fire/Rads and a Stone Tank to hold the aggro.
I wasn't on the team, but I believe I remember the time was somewhere around 24-26 minutes; there was a contest a while back with teams racing the STF. The Frad team won and I believe second place was somewhere around 50ish minutes... I imagine the forum purges have deleted the threads by now.
Unfortunately I haven't had that kind of success, I think our best run was something around 1 hour, 20 minutes.
<edit>
Well, either my search-fu is weak or the threads are gone, I wasn't able to find the discussion. Anyone from that team around to set the record straight?
