Can you walk through fences?
Don't get me started on walls and fences. I've had enemies shoot me though stone walls and I've stood 3 feet from an enemy with a chain link fence between us which obviously rendered him deaf and blind.

I misread the title of this thread... my response was "Well, I could, but why the hell would I want to?"
I don't really know if it's related but I did have a weird Malta bug last night in a sewer set mission. One of the guys was hovering up near where the platforms were in one room but he had spawned on the other side of the irised doorway. He could walk in and out of the room and shoot at me, but I couldn't even target him because I hadn't opened the door yet.
I didn't much care for that bug. Because he was a sapper, of course.

Yes that is a latency issue I to have a high latency (is there an in game Ping meter?) most of the time. Altho I play a lost more redside we don't have many chainlink fences but I have slid along the ground as tho I was dead for almost 30min in a row when i was in fact alive and using powers. I have also walked through many different walls and have to click on most doors 2 or 3 times to go through them. The next fence I see I'll see if i can walk through it.
I haven't done that for a while (haven't walked along fences for a long time), but I remember this happening to me years ago.
Unless something fixed it and then broke it, I'd have to lean on the "not new" side of it. I can see how it'd be annoying, though.
You've always been able to walk through fences if you have enough run speed buffs. A DO-slotted Sprint is enough. Basically, walk up to a fence and stop. Then hit forward and you'll pop up on the other side. I suspect this is because running forward causes our "centre" to shift fowrad, and if you're running fast enough it shift forward faster than the server can slide the model back, hence you pop up on the other side. This is doable to any surface that's a single polygon, and is also doable in certain small gaps, such as the distance between pipes and the wall in some sewer maps. This is also the reason why you can get "stuck" on corners if you jump into them and hold forward, and sometimes even jump up off a sheer wall.

I've been out ridin' fences -- for so long now...

It's also worth noting that, with combat jumping, you can slip right through the fences surrounding Atlas Plaza. You do it just by walking right in between two posts. Just walk into them for a while and you'll get it.
I'm unsure if it's related to latency issues or not. I've never been able to get through any other fences.
I used to use chainlink fences as a 'guide' to running along.
I can't do that these days, because I run -straight- through them. It's quite annoying, especially if there are cliffs on the other side of them (like in Talos).
This seems to be new behaviour, and it didn't affect some other people on some teams when I 'showed them' the problem. That is, other people would never walk through the fence. I was able to do this repeatedly.
Could be a network latency issue -- my "ping" is generally 275-350milliseconds (1/3 of a second). Which is a major reason why I don't do PvP, and can have some quirky effects on my characters's movement, especially in caves.
