An idea for NCSoft
I like it. Don't know that they care, but I think it's a good idea. I have so dang many assorted box products from them, one day I took them all, made sure that there was nothing collectable in them, and put them in the recycle bin... There were 15+ time card boxes, and like 3 or more other product boxes... Just the cardboard parts, I reuse the disk products because I have plenty of disks, but still. Good idea.

Or they could just eliminate the boxes.
They sell CoX cards with just a little extra plastic attatched to hang it on a hook. That's really all you need. Why they sell them in cases too is beyond me, it's a waste of their money to use such an unnecessarily large case.
The off-beat space pirate...Capt. Stormrider (50+3 Elec/Storm Science Corruptor)
The mysterious Djinn...Emerald Dervish (50+1 DB/DA Magic Stalker)
The psychotic inventor...Dollmaster (50 Bot/FF Tech Mastermind)
Virtue Forever.
Or they could just eliminate the boxes.

Or you could just recycle the cases yourself.
I'm not into giving perks to people who buy time cards since these are not available to those of us who pay online.
If your TRUE concern is the environment; put them in your recycling bin.
As far as the "It helps get attention. Not everyone pays attention to gift card type deals. " The game time cards aren't really an advertisement for the game... they are a means of buying time for the game. People who are looking for the time cards... probably already have the game.
They're also there to prevent theft. Swiping a tiny card on a hook is very easy - pocketing a product even a little larger takes more effort and time. I know that's why a lot of stores put things that are already IN boxes, in even bigger boxes. I think they had to open about a dozen of those time cards I had earlier, out of these large plastic cases.

The hang tags work for cell phone upgrades. So they will work for time cards. It as simple as that.
And you can hang them next to the game section with a minimal use of space in the stores. Something stores will be glad to see too.
I dont see any problem removing the boxes completly.

So, this isn't an idea for CoH/V itself, as much as it is for NCSoft as a whole. Now, as anyone who has bought Game Time cards is aware of, NCSoft currently uses standard DVD cases for it's game time cards. As such, anyone who buys Game Time cards on any regular basis is familiar with having a ton of the boxes left over, which equates to a lot of wasted plastic in the long run.
So, I got to thinking... What if NCSoft decided to do the unheard of an offer a recycling program for the boxes? The idea is that people could send in their boxes, at which point NCSoft could refurbish for reuse for new game time cards (Rather then simply manufacturing new ones). In exchange, NCSoft could offer bonuses for the boxes returned for recycling. For example, send in ten boxes and you could recieve a discount on server slots for games like Guild Wars and CoH/V, character rename tokens, server transfers, and the like. This could include other things like exclusive in-game items, a discount in the NCSoft store, and other intangible but cost associated things.
It would be a neat way to help be enviromentally friendly.
