Player Rating

I'm having a hard time finding the right words for this but hopefully the "Idea" can be conveyed generally. I would like to suggest an Honor system that adequately reflects the players integrity in gameplay. If a player joins a Task Force and quits in the middle it will reflect negatively on their rating. If players grief a team or another player, feedback can be left in the form stars like the AE rating system. My point is its become difficult or near to impossible in some circumstances to put together a good team without whiners, complainers, quitters etc.... It would also add an element of gameplay to the system where people could experience the consequences of their actions which would deter griefing players and teams. anyways its probably not a great idea for an MMO but in my experience with groups/teams/task forces its always good know you have someone good covering your back, with confidence that the first sign of trouble their not going to say "I gotta log" knowing their just switching toons. granted there are real life issues that can happen and it might be difficult to distinguish between those in a virtual world. But, it would be nice to have a rating or honor system or "Reputation" to go on while assembling a team.

You can make player ratings, simply right click on the player or their name in the chatbox and select Add Note, you can then give the player's Global a 1-5 star rating as well as any additional notes you may have on them, these stars will display across all that player's characters.

To see your notes, right click on the character and select Edit Note.

Given all the DCing myself and other players have been doing lately, I hardly think it's fair to punish people for not being able to complete a Task Force. Meanwhile, other people have real life obligations. Hell, their house could be burning down, or they just got back from Mexico where they made the mistake of drinking the local tap water, you don't know. I'm not even gonna get into the whole griefing issue.

And also, as mentioned above, such a system already exists, although it does require each person to make their own judgments and it's not initially helpful if you haven't rated anyone yet. But then, why should you trust anyone else's judgment about who's a good player? Maybe someone is ordinarily a good player, but they're in a crabby mood one day; one too many team wipes on a TF and they just up and quit. Or maybe they're a giant tool but got all good ratings from their buddies who are also tools.

Other solutions: form a SG with people you know and trust, or join one of the big global channels on your server and find people there you trust. If you play with a regular group of people, there's no need to worry about who you might be teaming with -- you already know.

I think they mean one you can see whether you've teamed with them or not. That sort of thing I don't think I could go for, since it's too open for griefing (and there are always shared accounts too.) But the current system, yeah, it works nicely. One star someone and note it, and you'll always know why (as long as you're on the same computer.)

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

It seems to me like this would have too much potential for punishing players who didn't really do anything wrong. I quit about 10 minutes into a manticore TF today, because there were still level 40 paragon protector elites in it and I knew I wouldn't have time to finish. I had started because I was under the (mistaken) assumption that that bug had been fixed. Does this mean I'm a bad player?

Only if you quit without any word.

Personal player ratings are good enough for PvE teams. You can be confident in the ratings and comments of each player because... you made them.

Public ratings basically belong in PvP, where players like to see how they stack up with one another. It encourages competition, which IMO doesn't belong in team play.

EDIT: And by competition I mean between players.
