What is "Reputation?"

Whenever a user posts on these forums, a tiny button resembling scales appears under their avatar attatched to the post. Clicking it apparently increases their "reputation." What is this?

Trouble.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

It means apparently they didn't learn what they should have from story arc rating system in AE. At least there's no badges available here. Or are there?

A horrible, horrible thing that should be deactivated by the admins as soon as possible.

I can so see a "Click on the above post's reputation" topic over on Forum Games.

Under your number of posts on the right, you'll see a little box. If you've had someone add to your reputation, it'll be green, otherwise it'll be blue. (I think you can disable reputation, which turns it black or something.) As more people award you reputation, more boxes are added.

It's a lot like the star rating system that was done away with long ago on the old boards.

Err...How? I've explored the options in CP, but I haven't seen anything that will let me do that.

As far as I've seen and explored, you can not disable the rep. If anyone else knows how to do this speak up.

In my own opinion though, I've been asking to be able to +rate specific people instead of the entire thread for quite some time now. There have been horrible threads in the past where only one person out of 60+ posts has something interesting to say. It is in times like that where I'd like to rate only that person and not 5 star the horrible thread.

This can't be too bad of an idea for the forums. Actually, I think it is nice to have around. That's just my opinion though. We should give it some time to evolve and see how this reputation system works out in the end.

So far, I'm not seeing anything but a Green (good), Purple/Greyish (average/normal), and Red (mental patient) when it comes to this reputation. On Allakhazam they use words like "default" and "sub-default" to define people with bad opinions/threads/posts. Having it on a 3 color scale is a big step up from what the other forums are doing at the moment.

I guess I'm just glad it isn't saying "Rainman", "*****", or "numbskull" for the bad reputation posters. It could happen to any of us and no one would like that!

It's very easy to disable. Simply go to your control panel, click on options, and it's the second checkbox you run into. "Show your reputation." Just uncheck it.

It's under 'edit options'. Right up at the top there's a box called 'Show Your Reputation Level'. It'll tell you how many reputation points you have and there's a check box that turns on and off the reputation display.

Sweet! I obviously overlooked it. It is one of the first things I see when I go to Edit Options. ^^ Thank you.
