Oh stop that!
Enjoy your privilege to be in the "closed" beta!
You may want to give trial keys to those you care so they can also be in "closed" beta too!
I've never been in a closed beta before! I am so eager!
Thank you Posi!

Don't get me wrong Dave, those are all valid viewpoints and opinions and I can't say that it won't go that way (it'd be nice if it did).

Well reasoned!

I think the strategy is to create new, mroe exotic zones this year, as CO is offering more exotic zones.

[/ QUOTE ]
This looks likely - with tests/comments pointing to both a water/underwater based zone and to space/moon/extra-terrestrial zones.

But they're just the ones that have seemed very likely for quite some time now - I'd guess that a frozen/arctic zone may well be on it's way as well (although this could conceivably be an extra-terrestrial zone).

Hopefully there'll be at least one new zone that comes completely out of the blue and surprises everyone. Now where did the devs leave that non-Euclidean R'lyeh zone..?

BTW I love the zone naming in CO... It's things like Lemuria, Snake Gulch, Millenium City and... Canada! I just love the way that Canada is a zone alongside fantastical and mythical places. Though it wouldn't surprise me if some players actually thought that Canada was a fictional place.

Positron saying that they can make "cool" new zones might hint at an arctic one - especially as he wrote "cool" in big letters

That would smack of desperation and copying CO, in my opinion at least.

I'm glad you're happy in that universe you live in, whether it's a universe of happy, naive people or a universe of trolls.

He not only capitalised 'COOL' but he did this 2 or 3 times. It's because of this that I mention a possible frozen/arctic zone - though it would be possible that it's extra-terrestrial.

It was funny at the pocket D that most chat seemed to miss the 'COOL' references instead shouting out that DA is a cool zone...

A frozen/arctic zone is in no way neccesarily copying CO in the same way that CO isn't copying any starwars games that had Hoth in them or any WWII games with operations in frozen Norway... It's not a frozen/arctic setting that makes the game, it merely provides a backdrop for the game.

EDIT: It's also possible that a frozen zone was discussed as a potential addition to CoX years ago... i.e. CO may well be running with the frozen zone partly as it had come up in plans for CoX before Jackelope left CoX.

Yeah - there's snow and ice, but that's about the only things they both need to share
Like the "Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" shares a snow and ice setting with "At the Mountians of Madness", but they're not really very similar stories

Yeah Dave, but it's the timing. It's perfectly viable for multiple games across multiple genres to come up with ICE ZONES (heck it's been a staple of games for years).

But when two games in the same genre, with the same theme come up with them at the same time?

Whoever announced it first will get lauded and whoever announces it second, regardless of how COOL it is will just be seen as playing catch up.

An example is, there's always a flurry of similiar movies that follow the same themes which come out around the same time (Jurassic Park/Carnosaur (okay, that's reaching, I'll admit it) Armageddon/Deep Impact, The Matrix/13th Floor etc.)

And there's always one which is remembered (if not lauded) and one which is the object of derision.

I'm a tad concerned that regardless of what we see here and speculate about, the Gaming press will just make a couple of comments along the lines of "WOW CHAMPIONS IS COOL.... and COH copies it because they're rubbish)" and that'll be it for new subscribers.

Obviously, I'm talking about idiots who follow the mass media. Luckily, there's not a lot of those people on the planet....

No wait, we're boned.

(If you can't see a serious message in the midst of all that above, then... oh never mind, just go for it anyway).

COOL is misleading if we regard it as a hint at temperature.

When Matt Miller drops a hint, it's deliberately misleading. He said we'd be able to destroy the environment and we got bank/paper missions. He said the War Walls were coming down, and they do, every time there's a Rikti raid.

So when he says "COOL" in capital letters that may well involve like a jazz lounge or something similar.

Oooo! New zone speculations. I bet it will be something related to water... They introduced that swimable water with... hmmm forgot the issue number but with that Cimerora thingy.

I personally want exotic places too. Like a jungle, far eastern location (Hmm maybe a fictionary city with Samurai and Ninjas), a desert, an asteroid belt in space (just change Shadow Shards a bit and you have a floating islands in space)....

New power sets and new locations are always good in my book, better than another end game TF.

We tried it once your way, Aardy, are you game for a rematch?

Anyway, the space station/moonbase zone was the one that won the vote a while back, so that'd be pretty cosarned cool.

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

No, I'm not finishing that one, invoking as one would the "misconstrued quote on an internet forum" rule

And yes, a moonbase zone would be awesome.
