Taunt on a Dark/WP
basically yes it would not sure it would be strong anuff to pull mobs from another brute at range but if used on mobs that are close are around you in melee is should keep them stuck to you.
you can also obviously use it on a spawn before your team reach it so that you get the initial agro and then its the other brutes that have to take the mobs from you.
Also keep in mind that soul drain and dark consumption can be treated as AoE attacks on a brute and both can take a taunt enhancements so you could even slot a single taunt in each to help keep mobs on you
Do Taunt enhancements boost the Mag or the Duration of the Taunt? I'm just not sure how it works. Taunt, Brute attacks and Damage auras all do mag 4 taunt (Taunts lasts longer) but Taunt is the only one which isn't also doing damage. So I dunno if that means Damage Auras and AOE attacks are better because Damage Caused is also used in some way to determine who gets aggro.
I you're right though, the fact it's a ranged AOE is great and means I can pop it before anyone else and force the alpha onto me as well as making the enemies close in.
Taunt significantly increases the threat your other abilities cause to the afflicted mobs for the duration.
It'll make your taunt aura little less weak. It does NOT snap mobs onto you instantly upon use, though this is often what it looks like when used on mobs within the taunt aura - pulling with Taunt from range without following up with a ranged AoE damage power is still likely to lose your agro once the other Brutes close in (though being the first one on the agro table has its advantage in keeping the mob on you, so not as easily), but it'll at least direct the alpha at you
Basically what Col_Blitzkrieger says taunt wont solve all your problems but it will help and if you can get in one of the patron ranged AoE (either the imob or the strait up attack( your on a winner the important thing to remember is that taunt has a range modifier (sorry no idea how it works) and is more effective the closer you are to the target so using taunt on a target across the room may get them to come your way but another brute or even corrupter could attracted there attention. but use it on a mob your already in contact with and they'll most likely stick to you like glue as long as you frequently re-taunt them (brutes don't have punch voke unfortunately)
The target you probably want to aim for is to be first to your desired targets that way taunt and your taunt aura will keep them as your targets.
Brutes have single-target punch-voke.
oops i was getting punchvoke and gauntlet confused
Usually only if you are punchvoking too can you steal from another brute.
Taunt alone won't necessarily steal from a brute using punchvoke as their threat level could be higher than yours, their damage and your range.
If you and they are both in melee then you should win using taunt as an additive between attacks.
When it comes to many brutes its a battle of auras + taunt + punchvoke, WP alone lacks duration.
You can simply leave the first group somewhere midfight and get ahead just enough to have the team get to you in time for possible needs of support, then you leave them to clean up as you go for the next group but do not leave too early or you may need that self res. Often with other corrupters shields you can be pretty safe to keep setting up fighting points doing a bit and moving on.

Also don't run Super speed it lowers your threat rating
That should suppress the moment you attack or are attacked. For initial perception reasons it can help to turn it off but then for getting to mobs with minimal fight duration to self it can help to have it on much like Darks cloak.

Super Speed lowers your threat modifier (normally 4 for Brutes) by 1 while running it.
Read the combat attributes, it should suppress the moment you attack or are being attacked and therefore not count. You may be threat level -1 doing nothing but the moment you're noticed and whilst you stay noticed you should be back to normal threat level.
Whilst not attacking or being attacked:
Threat Level 3
Base +4
Superspeed -1
Whilst attacking or being attacked:
Threat Level 4
Base +4
Superspeed -1
See the difference?

Unless Dark is different on a brute than it is to a scrapper I found while levelling that Dark Consumption grabs a hell of a lot more agro than an attack of that value should. As I normally used it after an Elude crash this was an issue. The only thing I am thankful for inventions for is no longer needing Elude on my DM/SR and letting me soft cap just fine without it
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled

They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk

Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
Don't think it dose Shannon not tested on a brute (don't have one with SS yet) but on my stalker his threat lvl stays at -1 even when attacking and being attacked its for this reason i use it as it reduces the risk of something nasty getting locked on to me.
Should have my dark/DR brute up to 14 the night tho so ill see if it works differently then.
Stalkers threat level is 2, with Hide on or off. With Superspeed on:
Whilst not attacking or being attacked:
Threat Level 1
Base +2
Superspeed -1
Whilst attacking or being attacked:
Threat Level 2
Base +2
Superspeed -1
Suppresses the same way.

Yeah i used dark consumption to grab aggro on my dm/invul brute before i picked up invincibility.
SS isn't an option for me anyway, not a good look for a Zombie.
Plus Air Sup is too tempting to miss out on.
I'm level 29 now and planning to pick Taunt up at 30 anyway, it certainly can't hurt my aggro control (might hurt me of course)
Quick question. Will Taunt out-aggro things like a Brutes one-target punchvoke and Damage Auras?
Was on a PvE team yesterday of lots of Brutes (and a Dom) and found it quite hard to build fury simply because the combo of a lack of AOE and a poor aggro aura meant I wasn't really getting attacked too much. Was wondering if Taunt would help with that as well as encouraging enemies to close in to me to boost my regen.
