Advice Please - Dark/Dark/Something for PvP
Okay *Cracks Knuckles*
Here are some thoughts. This is coming from an ice/cold corr w/the 400 PVP rep badge, so I know all about what you'd need to make a squishy work in PvP. I'll start with the moves, then move onto general tactics
Powers in Dark Miasma to focus on:
Twilight Grasp (Acc, Heal, Rech)
Darkest Night (-tohit, End)
Tar Patch <-- you need as much -res as possible on a PvP squishy. (3x Rech, for stacking)
Fearsome Stare <-- There is very little fear resistance in the game, make use of this (acc, rech)
Petrifying Gaze <-- Imo, only take if you also take a patron hold, to stack the two together. Do defenders have one in their epic pool? (rech, acc)
Shadow Fall the res and def come in handy, and the stealth when added to either stealth or a stealth IO in sprint give you the element of surprise you really need to have
Howling Twilight -500% regen? Yes Please (rech, end)
Dark Servant <-- he'll stack everything you do, heals/fear/hold. Worth Having (your choice of slotting, I'd HO slot it for Mez,acc and heal, rech)
I'm not very experienced with /DArk, except on a Dark/Traps corr. The stun is useless, can that. You need as much dps as possible, so just find yourself an attack chain you're comfortable with. I love that cone attack, but not that usefull in PvP. ST damage all the way. Blackstar might be useful for emergencies
Other Powers:
Hasten - essential for attempting to stack Tar Patch
Swift/Health/Stamina - Swift over hurdle, need the passive movement
Stealth - to stack with Shadow Fall, but easily replaced with a stealth IO in sprint
In terms of ancillary power pools, I recommend Psychic mastery for the early hold and Mind over Body. Electric mastery is also an option, for a Hold and Power Sink.
Tactics
Never, ever, ever, stand still. Apply your mez (Fear/2xholds) kite your opponent and barrage them. Your DoT will be your own enemy, as kills will be slow
Don't be afraid to use insps. Always come with break frees, purples, greens, and blues. Never leave home without them
Don't be afraid to use accolades. That's what they're there for. If you need help earning Magus, give me a shout and we might be able to organise a run for it.
Use the element of surprise, on a squishy. Come out of the shadows and apply your mez, and barrage them from a safe distance
I hope the above is all of use to you, if you've got any questions, reply here, PM, or @Xemulas ingame.
Regards,
Xem
Hiya Biscuits.
Looking at life drain pvp numbers its a really beefy attack along with the nice heal.
I guess moonbeam would be nice for shadowfall sniping
Howling twilight has a long cast time, but that -regen debuff is nice i imagine and you can drop fliers with it.
[u]Dark Miasma[u]
Twilight Grasp - Ranged, Foe -Accuracy -Damage, Team Heal
Take this, it is a very strong heal and one of your main powers Pve or PvP
Tar Patch - Ranged Targeted area of effect, Target -Speed, -Resistance, -Fly
Cracking power to start causing some damage, the res is very nice but getting players to stand still long enough to use it will be your issue
Darkest Night - 2 4 Toggle: Ranged Targeted area of effect, Foe -Damage, Foe Accuracy
Pretty much one of the main debuffs as you will be aware in PvE, Pve is no different, in fact Elusivity even after the i14 nerf will cause this to be very effective
Howling Twilight - Ranged Targeted area of effect, Minor damage (Negative), Target Slow, -Recharge, Disorient, Ally resurrect
PvE power, ignore it.
Shadow Fall - Toggle: Point blank area of effect, Team Stealth, +Defense (All), +Resistance (Energy, Negative, Psionics, Fear)
Stacked with a Stealth IO in Run/Jump/fly etc this power gives you invisibility without the use of stealth(-spd) and also gives some res, perhaps slot with Knockback IO? But check the res figures, psi res might be a nice extra)
Fearsome Stare - Ranged (Cone), Foe Fear, -Accuracy
Holds arent what they used to be, but Fear can hold someone long enough to drop your tar patch, personally I would go with some range on this if you can fit it in
Petrifying Gaze- Ranged Hold
[/i] Again, holds arent what they used to be, and the animation on this one I always found to be quite long[/i]
Black Hole - Ranged Targeted area of effect, Foe Intangible
You cannot kill or debuff a target in a different dimension from yourself, skip this unless you want it for a OMG that hurt stop hitting me type power, personally I think you would be better to Darkest night asap, then heal.
Dark Servant - Summon Dark Servant: Ranged Debuff Special
Take any extra help you can get!, Stacks your own efforts too, def take this.
[u]Dark Blast [u]
Dark Blast - Ranged, Moderate Damage (Negative), Foe: -Accuracy
Gloom would be better but this is a must being 1st power in your secondary tree, Moderate Damage and Acc, not all bad
Gloom - Ranged, High Damage over Time(Negative), Foe: -Accuracy
Single target, High DoT
must you ask? (take it!)
Moonbeam - Sniper, Extreme Damage(Negative), Foe: -Accuracy
Typically snipes dont perform in PvP, not for defenders who lack Aim+Buildup anyway, Skip
Dark Pit - Ranged, Area of Effect, Foe: Disorient
Not ideal, Stuns dont last that long in PvP and to get into the AoE would be more hassle than it was worth, Skip
Tenebrous Tentacles - Ranged(Cone), Minor Damage over Time(Negative), Foe: Immobilize, -Accuracy
Immobilize is super in PvP, especially for toons who only have Jump as a travel, also helps you drop tar pach on them, use this and love it, even though the animation sux
Night Fall - Ranged(Cone), Moderate Damage over Time(Negative), Foe: -Accuracy
Another sturdy DoT power, stack with Gloom for loads of ticks, Dark lacks Burst damage, so keep the DoTs going as much as you can
Torrent - Ranged(Cone), Minor Damage (Negative), Foe: Knockback
Knockback, and only Minor damage, Id leave this
Life Drain - Ranged, Minor Damage (Negative), Self: Heal, Foe: -Accuracy
OMG I love this power, damage always seems ok, self heal with small animation time, low end cost, use it as part of your attack chain and use Twighlight Grasp to heal in emergency- I love this power
Black star - Point Blank Area of Effect, Extreme Damage(Negative), Self: -Recovery, Foe: -Accuracy
Situational, nukes leave you vulnerable, but this one is your choice I guess
[u]Epic Choice [u]
I would be inclined to go for Power Master, so I have details those powers below
Conserve Power - Self Endurance Discount
Always handy, good to ensure you can blast away to your hearts content or until your opponent is dead, whichever comes first, downtime is time they can heal and also hit back
Power Build Up - Self +Damage, +Accuracy, +Special
Recharge is slower than is Ideal, but in PvP +Dmg+Acc and +Effects to Fear, and Acc is all good stuff
Temp Invulnerability - Self +Resistance (smashing, lethal)
This will fill the hole that Shadow fall misses, nice not to be too squishy, gives you the chance to use your 2 Heals
Total Focus - Melee, Extreme Damage (Energy/Smash), Foe Disorient
SUPER power, take this
With PowerBuildUp and Res from Tar Patch this is going to Hurt!, make sure the latest you take this power is lvl 47 so that there is enough slots to 6 slot it.
Dont have the time just now to go into Tactics but I hope this gives a helping hand into powers to use in PvP.

PvE power, ignore it.

I can understand a difference of opinion, but that's just plain misinformation. Against anything which uses regen as it's main form of mitigation, HT = essential

Far as I am aware HT is an ally Rez, where is the 500% Regen coming from?
[ QUOTE ]
Activating this power channels the power of the Netherworld to weaken your foes, in an attempt to revive all nearby fallen allies. You must stand near your defeated allies to revive them, then select a foe. The selected foe and all nearby foes will be Slowed, Disoriented, and drained of some life. Revived allies will have full Hit Points and Endurance and will suffer no ill effects and are left protected from XP Debt for 20 seconds

????
EDIT :
Oh wait i see it, -%500 its a debuff, tbh it's very situational, in PvP players don't wait to be rezzed they Hosp asap to get back in the fight.
I stand by my "Skip it" comment.

Ever used it against an EB/AV? It's a huge -regen power, with a bonus in PvP
Linky
You don't need a dead teammate to use it!
The rez is a side effect, it's a is ST w/an AoE spalsh for the stun
Jeez

Try City of Data (or look at the detailed numbers ingame). Howling Twilight has a hefty -Regen component in PvE and PvP. In PvE it should ALWAYS be used on AVs (along with copious amounts of stacked Twilight Grasps from you and the Darkl Servant).
The description of Fearsome Stare is a wee bit confusing too. I'd change it to
[ QUOTE ]
Fearsome Stare - Ranged (Cone), Foe Fear, -Accuracy
Mezzes aren't what they used to be, but Fear can mez someone long enough to drop your tar patch, personally I would go with some range on this if you can fit it in

Jeez
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a targetted AOE attack, not a ST one (and autohit in PvE, not sure about PvP)
It's a massive AOE mez & debuff which has the side effect of bringing people back from the dead, in the same way Twilight Grasp is a decent ToHit, Damage and Regen debuff which also happens to heal anyone near you
aye, just realised what I meant wasn't what I wrote Carni. I was trying to affirm that it requires one target to fire off, not a dead teammate as Donna_ seems to think
Your comment on TG = exactly what I tell people who call any of my Darks a "heal0r"
´"Cracking power to start causing some damage, the res is very nice but getting players to stand still long enough to use it will be your issue
"
In i12 i was superjumping around SC looking for what i thought was a stalker(most villains in sc were stalkers, veats, corrs and ss,stone melee brutes) when all of the sudden i got dropped by howling twilight, fell on a tar patch, got killed by necro pets.
I just went HUH?
Just as an added thought, if you did want something to stack with Petrifying Gaze, Psychic Mastery has Dominate AND Telekinesis, which already stack with each other.

Semiquaver: Sonic/Kinetics Corruptor
Firstly, don't laugh at the concept. She's my main, and it's about time I gave her a proper go at PvP. Sure, I could make an alt to use, but that would mean I'm not using my favorite toon/main badge toon. (I'd like to at least *try* to get the PvP badges the way they were designed).
I'm expecting comments like "lol dark", which honestly don't help me. They just show how arrogant and elitist some PvPers can be, which has put me off trying in the past. So please, if that's all you have to say, save and look less like a jerk for a change.
Right, onwards to the request. I'm not asking for a mids build or anything, as I can faff about with that later. I'd like some advice on which powers are essential, which can be skipped, which would be the best APP to take, and what sort of tactics to use. Generic tactics or specific to an AT's fine, but I'd like her to be able to stand a chance against the majority of opponents.
I'd also like some advice on what areas to concentrate on, regarding IO's. (Not necessarily which sets, but which bonuses would be the most help and why).
She's great for PvE, and thanks to dual builds, I'd like her to be a little less hopeless for PvP, too.
Thankies. ^_^/
