+2 Mag Holds

Sorry for being dense and I did search to try and find the answer but I am still left confused...

I upgraded two of my holds with a 'chance for a +2 mag hold' and I now sometimes get an electrical globe effect round the held mob, which I believe to be a visual 'clue' to indicate that a +2 mag hold is in effect.

Am I right in believing that this has no effect on the duration of the hold and is irrelevant on minions etc? It just indicates that if I had used the hold on a harder mob (lt/boss etc) it would have been more likely to have stuck?

Just trying to get my head around the relevance of the electrical globe effect, if it is indicating the hold will actually last longer I could better make use of that time.

Bosses have Mag 3 protection against Mez effects. So a standard Hold won't affect them, but anything else that stacks will.

The Boss will be Held while both Holds are working. So if your standard one lasts 10 seconds and the proc 8, the Boss will be held for 8 seconds.

Yup that electrical globe is because of +2 Mag proc from Lockdown set.

Promethean explained timing thing nicely.

Yep, it's 3, so you need 4 or more to overcome it.

A Controllers epic Seismic Smash is Mag 4 and can single-hold a boss.

Yeah also Mesmerize can one hit sleep bosses with 3,5 Mag.

Just checked wiki, so according to that chart Mesmerize + Mass Hypnosis + Mesmerize combo is enough to put a GM to sleep, right?

Doesn't taking damage cancel existing sleep effects even if they don't overcome the target's sleep protection? Mesmerize deals damage, last time I checked.

Yes the second mesmerise will undo the extra mag from the mass hypnosis as its damage will break the sleep before applying its sleep effect.

Hmmm maybe mesmerize and multiple Mass Hypnos but probably any mind troller would be death before 2nd Mass Hypno.
