Thanks a lot for the advice. Hes started Fire/Kin corruptor and enjoying it a lot!

I did search and couldn't find anything regarding pairing rather than solo farming, apologies if I missed it.
I have an SS/Elec Brute which I am having fun playing (currently only 20!), which I am hoping should do well farming influence/prestige for our small Villain Group later on. My mate wants to roll a character to pair with me for group (and maybe duo action if no one else is about), but with the intention of being a great team to farm when we get up towards the cap.
He was initially thinking a Dominator such as Fire PSI, which is supposed to be good at solo farming, but as the Brute will always be present as well maybe something else would be better? Such as Rad/?? corrupter or something else entirely?
Heroside, people would (at least previously) say fire/kin controller, mostly for Fulcrum Shift. Is it worth him trying to grab that in particular, or better going for another set?
Thanks in advance. -
You rock, thanks for the reply. I shall have a look at the IO sets. Last time I waited till 47 before fitting out with IO sets, and then unless I can find something to do at level 50, 94 percent of my time on the character was without the bonuses. I might look at doing a set at 35 and then another set at level 47.
Smoke Grenade I got thinking it would help me pull, i.e. drop it on a group and single pull one mob out, but usually I get most of the group anyway, though admittedly they are debuffed. -
Or to put it more briefly
If I am trying to create a melee focused Widow with good defenses, is it overkill to have CT Defence (no option), TT Maneuvers, Indomitable Will, Foresight, Mind Link (possibly perma), Mask Presence and Elude?
That's a lot of powers, but if it will make me near bulletproof (if correctly slotted) it might be worth a go. -
Thanks a lot, I will give it a go. It also means I can start now rather than waiting.

So I read it is possible to (near?) perma run Mind Link using Def/Recharge's from various sets, if so what is the earliest level you can achieve this with for example 3 slots? I am guessing Mental Training helps and the rest is done with +rech set bonuses, or is Hasten in the mix too?
Regardless of this, what powers are required to reach the softcap for defences and resistances? I am bewildered by the number of defensive skills available! I have read it is possible to skip Elude altogether for example. I am assuming you can softcap the defences without it...? On the other hand I believe Elude is virtually required for PvP, or is this not the case?
I realise this is subjective and dependant upon levels and slotting etc, but I don't want to be wasting a power on TT: Maneuvers (for example) if most or all of the benefits for this would be above a softcap.
If the answer is that I should just go work it all out in Mids, am I aiming to try and get all defences to 45+ including Melee, Ranged and AoE? Where should I aim to get my resistances to?
Any help appreciated. -
You mean random rolls? Or just don't bother with the merits I have?

Sorry for being dense and I did search to try and find the answer but I am still left confused...
I upgraded two of my holds with a 'chance for a +2 mag hold' and I now sometimes get an electrical globe effect round the held mob, which I believe to be a visual 'clue' to indicate that a +2 mag hold is in effect.
Am I right in believing that this has no effect on the duration of the hold and is irrelevant on minions etc? It just indicates that if I had used the hold on a harder mob (lt/boss etc) it would have been more likely to have stuck?
Just trying to get my head around the relevance of the electrical globe effect, if it is indicating the hold will actually last longer I could better make use of that time.
Sorry if this has been covered before... -
I have just got my MM to level 50 and started a Widow. I have over 200 merits on my MM and he has pretty much all the enhancements he wants, bought with the inf he gained as he levelled. I had been planning to buy an expensive recipe for 240 merits and then use the inf to buy some nice sets for him, but I think I will be spending it on the Widow instead.
My question is, would I be better buying one recipe (for example the most expensive Numina's I can spot) or doing multiple random rolls for 20 or 30 a pop? I realise there is an element of luck involved, but which is more likely to net more inf, or is there a better thing to do with 200+ merits?
Any advice would be welcome, I just don't want to waste the whole lot doing something stupid.
Thanks, in advance.
