SG PVP Cagefights

Ok so heres my idea which im sure would bring SG members something else to do as a group! within the base you can make/buy a fight cage with 1 door at each side of the cage, 1 person enters each door and THEN! the doors close behind them and are unable to exit the cage for 5 or 10mins.

IF a player DC's the opponent wins by default and the cage is then opened.. if there is no winner by the end of the timer... again the cage should open and players are no longer able to attack each other.

(This is an extra idea... doesnt have to be in place but maybe a good idea so ill throw it in!) when you open the SG tab.. theres a new column [Cage Score] and this will show how many cage fights they have won. (not losses as it woundnt be a good idea to damage others pride)although.. it may encourage them to be better at PVP

just to get SG's together.. it would be optional to buy ofc. its just another reason to get SG members to have abit of a laugh together for an event or something.. it would just be fun knowing your both entering the cage and theres no return! its just an idea! both good and bad comments are very welcome

IF, however, they would give us Doors in SG bases...

Very very difficult to have PvP enabled in only part of an instance.

They could add arena terminals as base items though.

I kinda like the idea would be cool if you could nominate a area in your base as a PvP area and have inpromtue PvP fights in it with fellow SG members would also be cool if it could be implemented in some where like pocket D (i realise it has terminals) and the vanguard base could be treated like a sparing area or something.

But probably to hard to implement

yeah, u know on missions like..where u have to defeat Neuron etc.. having doors that u could click to open to get in next room ould be awesome.

i really like the idea, especially if you could actually create/customise the rooms you wanted to be "pvp'able". i actually didn't think of it as an "arena" replacement. more like a training room, like the x-men have in the comics. i've often thought when crafting defense rooms in my base it would be cool if i could actually enter these rooms as a training exercise, maybe even fight with an sg member at the same time in them.

as an aside to this, being able to design your "training room from hell" would provide good sg training for base raids prior to the raid itself. you could test your own defences/attacks versus the sorts of defences/attacks you expect to encounter in a base raid.

before we all start poo-poo-ing the idea (why bother saying that, whom i kiddin?) because of technical issues, i think the idea at least is a cool one, and might encourage sg's to do some cool things as a group in their base.

i also like, good suggestion, i still like the idea of being able to customise the base itself for this, as per my previous suggestion, but if this technically difficult i think this is a cool alternative.

A problem with the current Arena ratings system, from my point of view, is that noone uses it. In all the time I have played, the only time people have wanted to do rated matches in the Arena is when they were fairly certain they would win. And noone ever agreed to it because the losses would be visible in their character information.
The part of your suggestion that I have quoted would be very welcome not only for possible SG cage matches, but also for the old Arena ratings system. Removing the display of losses and draws, as well as making all matches automatically rated, would perhaps finally let the ratings system see some use.
I still think keeping it separate from the PvP reputation points is a good idea, as the Arena matches are usually a very different ballgame from the somewhat more chaotic environment in the PvP zones.

Now, to return to the topic at hand...

Regarding SG cage matches, to a certain extent they duplicate the Arena system. I like the idea conceptually - an SG training room does make sense. The way I look at it, making Arena kiosks available as an SG item would probably be an easy and quick solution (as I am definitely not familiar with the CoH source code, the degree of difficulty is speculation).
One thing mentioned above that I would definitely like to see is the ability to test the base defenses by doing a practice attack on your own SG base.
