I'm an old Diablo fan too! I think the graphics are fine in game, they just seem too dark in screen shots.
Maybe it's just me or my system. No worries.
maybe it's more because your monitor is darker then the game settings, i have nothing to dark here.
Could be that you have some form of gamma correction set to compensate for a darker monitor, which means that you get screenshots the way things should look like, and the normal game a few steps brighter than default.

There should be a bightness button on your monitor which allows you to adjust (perhaps surprisingly) the brightness of the screen.

I experience this too. I'm not sure what the cause is or why but generally I have to fix screenies in Gimp or similar with a bit of a tweak

Screenshots are way to dark. They should be taken with our gamma corrections in place.

That looks spot on to me.
My screenshots generally come out like the ones Omega_MCX put in his photobucket. This shot looks far too dark to me. I can't make out much detail on the toons.
Maybe it's got more to do with when and where you take them. Is the game really this dingy most of the time? It doesn't seem so when I'm playing.
