Super Booster: Base Items?

After seeing the suggestion by TenshiYami of base items, i thought about it through the eyes of a developer; they're not exactly going to give out nifty little decorative things for free, are they? Look at the cyborg and wedding pack, they were sold for a price.
Anyhow, down to the suggestion; i propose that new base can be gained through the purchase of booster packs in which anyone who has the ability to access and edit the base will be able to place these items (through a cost of prestige ofcourse).

Different themes could be added to each seperate pack and could be based around seperate zones, for example Pocket D.
With a Pocket D themed base item booster pack it could include all the wall and floor textures, items (such as the hanging cages) and lighting effects.
There could then be one based on the Midnighter's Club, Arachnos theme and even a themed pack to compliment the Wedding costume pack.

EDIT: It could also be free if the developers were feeling nice? And Golden Girls idea of holiday themed base items would also be brilliant.

Was liking this idea, until I worked out the loophole.

Lets say you pay 9.99 for a full theme pack.

you then hire yourself out to fledgling SG's for influence and design their base for them.

What happens when you leave the SG? Do the textures vanish?

/unsigned purely on that I'm afraid. Nice idea though.

Isn't that kinda how the veteran base items work anyway? :S

Yes, but that's not paid for ( except in time )

Eg. The NcSoft won't make any money out of it because hardly anyone will buy it. People will always know someone who has the pack, and get them to change their base, circumventing having to buy the pack.

If the above was provided free of charge as a SG badge or something, then very /signed.

We shouldnt need to pay for base items, tbh.
/unsigned for the simple fact that more base stuff should come with updates =/ -hopes-

I like this idea

If you have a base, buy the pack. Simple as.

Seasonal packs, booster packs etc etc. Yep. It's all good. You can cherry pick

Hows about instead of making it a separate pack they add the items to existing/future packs?

the cyborg pack could have some techy stuff added powered down robots, guard robots, robotic legs/arms mounted on storage racks, techy scanning devices with lots of flashy lights and stuff etc etc

the magic pack could have cauldrons and standing stones with magical looking symbols on them demons head on a plaque etc etc etc

science pack could have lots of test tube themed things vandagraph generator type stuff large test glass tubes with shady figures inside

natural could have a range of training/Jim equipment tread mills, different weight lifting stuff, maybe even some form of swimming pool.

Mutants I'm not so sure about as there abilities are pretty much internal

holiday type items could be added as part of holiday events Xmas trees and presents at Xmas etc
