45 Month Veteran Reward - Needs something

what really confuses me is the 54 Month reward.
Who needs The Nemesis Staff and the Black Wand, if u get the origin bonus for only one anyway?
shouldnt the rewards get cooler the longer u play the game?
whatabout that nifty laser sword u can get for vanguard merits?a color costumizable version of it would be a dream come true!

Yeah, but it's not a lot of use if you're not a sword using character, is it?

You mean if it doesnt fit the character concept?
Doesnt have to, you can always make a new hero and get that veteran power...

No, I mean what if you're using a non-sword using character, such as a fire blaster. You physically CAN'T use the vet reward on that character. Take a look at existing rewards and show me even one that can't be used on any character.

Ok - so I got a bit confused. I remember reading this:

"Powers granted by the 54 month veteran badge no longer gain a bonus to damage dependent upon the character’s origin."

In the I13 patch notes. But I was under the impression that the ONLY power to get a boost from your origin was the Black Wand? Am I wrong about this? Did the others? Nemesis Staff? Sands of Mu? Ghost Slaying Axe? I didn't think origin affected these?

still dont get it. of course u CAN use it.a blaster just wont benefit from it,since he mostly stays in long range. but then again a single power like that isnt anything to be relied on in battle, its just an extra.and more than anything ,its a style item.

Nemesis staff has a damage bonus to all tech and (I think) natural origin characters using it!Ghost slaying axe and sands dont have origin bonuses.

Ah. I've detected the issue.

FFM: Tres is suggesting adding a Talsorian Sword Temp Power to the character's power list.

Tres: FFM thought you just meant having the Talsorian Sword Costume option unlocked for all characters (which would be completely useless for characters without a melee weapon).

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Aah, right... Although, to be colour customizable as Tres suggests, it would HAVE to be a sword costume option and not a temp power. Hence the confusion.

So Techs, Nats and Magic origins get bonuses.

As a Science-based hero, I'm offended! :O

I'm not sure I understand the point of turn off the origin bonus of the second veteran weapon choice you make....?

Unless the release notes are wrong, and all of the origin bonuses were turned off?

nahnah , the blackwand gives a bonus to mutation origin people too. As far as I know , every origin can get a bonus with either black wand or nemesis staff - just dont know about science, maybe nemesis as well....

n yeah, removing the bonuses makes these powers pointless much sooner than than they are already.

I think I'll go look up the origin bonuses on those two powers, just so that I know.

Tbh, either both vets should have the bonus, or neither should. Otherwise it doesn't make sense, imo

Magic and Mutation: Blackwand
Tech, Science, Natural: Nemesis Staff.

But only with the first vet?

EDIT: Not that it matters, I suppose. If you pick the first one for your origin, then you wouldn't need the second one to *give* the bonus. But what if you chose a different weapon based on an aesthetic choice, or by mistake?

I take them but they aren't much use. Once out of outbreak (or breakout for the dodgy ones!) they miss so often they've almost completely useless. More of a fill in attack while waiting for the rest to recharge... They look nice but apart from that, waste of a slot.

I dunno, it's nice to have something that does knockback when you're an ice/ice blaster. Not sure where I keep pulling that Nemesis Staff from though....

Magic, Mutation and Natural get a bonus from the Blackwand.
Tech, Science and Natural get bonus from the Nemesis staff.

The reason for the second one not granting a bonus is that it would give Natural characters an advantage over other origins.

[/ QUOTE ]The Nemesis staff is a steam-powered staff that shoots bolts of energy that deal damage, and knocks back foes. Characters of Science, Technology, or Natural origin get a bonus to their damage when using this power. Damage: Moderate. Recharge: Long.

The Blackwand is a black metal wand that feels cold in the hand, and glows with dark arcane energies. It decreases the chance enemies will hit you when they are affected by it’s magics. When used by those of Magic, Natural, or Mutant origin, it increases the potency of its attacks. Damage: Moderate. Recharge: Long.
33 Month Milestone: Unswerving

seems to me Natural does

Made a char to see for myself, and when you pick the powers, it does not list natural as a origin for black wand. As you can see in this pic

However after using it on a natural origin it does actually give the damage bonus.

I demand a respec for this!! I chose a Nemmy Staff for a natural character who would've suited the Blackwand better!!

strange, up until lvl 10 those attacks equal "me not dying ever", cause I get to have a functioning attack chain with (at the beginning) very strong attacks. The staffs hit more often than my other powers(at first).the axe and the sands are bit less functional, but mostly because of their long animation times.

Compared to 3 yrs ago, when I didnt have all these rewards the first 10 lvls are now a walk in the park.

Interesting that people´s experiences with these attacks vary so much!

I agree with TresCool - they are useful powers at low levels, when you have fewer attacks.

So - any other ideas for a 45 month vet reward?
