changes for melee powers in tank/brute
A lot of people would object to this.
The thread a while ago about power branching, to deal with this very issue, was a much better solution than presuming people want them replaced

Um, but hitting somebody with a weapon is a melee attack...
Besides, I like being able to hit people with a sword of pure fire.

No, that would be dumb. DUMB AS HELL.
I fully support Sorudo's idea of actual melee attacks for melee characters. This whole idea of swords = melee is rubbish. They're not standing right next to you when you swing your sword/hammer/orange at them, so they're short-ranged attacks. Note the 'ranged' part.
Soreudo has the right idea, but the implementation could be even better. Ice spikes (you mean stalegmites?) shooting up from the ground would still count as range...we need a little ice-fist to burst out from the toons' chest and WHAMMO! Cold Hand of Fate.
In short, Naruto made some good points. Also, I am a fish.

While I personally like the elemental weapons. I can see why some people wouldnt want them. the branching idea a while ago waas a thing I liked.
However the changes suggested here do more then just altering the visuals of the power. And I happen to think those powers are fine as they are and wish not to trash toons because people dont like the visuals.

Hugely /unsigned - if the devs were to make wholesale changes to popular power groups every time someone said they didn't like the way a few things looked, they'd never get anything else done.
And some of the requested alternarives are rather majorly unbalanced - take this power (my emphasis):

...then go with the Nuke...pop a blue...Nuke...pop a blue...Nuke cycle for a while.
And given that you're doing 3x damage you'd probably only need one nuke to clear a spawn - Fire/Kins, eat your heart out.
Edit: Ah - Tanks/Brutes only, not Blasters' fire secondary which I'd mistakenly assumed. OK, ignore my comments about the nuke. IMHO still a very bad idea generally, though.
No thanks while i dislike the mix of fist and weapon attacks that appear within the elemental melee sets your suggestion wouldn't help for a start the powers are no where near balanced.

so your changing a single target attack into a AOE which could work with tankers if the damage etc was properly balanced its no good for scrappers and brutes as there fire melee is single target based.

adding knock back no thanks for a fire tank having things near you is good cause they die if mobs get knocked back out of melee range and revert to ranged attacks that's not gonna help the tanker.

Say what? Your going to do away with fire melees best single target attack and replace it with a super build up. Instant recharged and 3x more damage is way to much and to make it worse at the end of it you have no end and %20 less health. So all your toggles will drop and you'll die not very good if your the tank then your team may very well die. If your a scrapper your not killing mobs so your team may die. If your a brute your not doing any damage and worse you've just lost all your fury

say what your replacing one of ice's few melee attacks with whats basically a click armour which wouldn't actually be of any benefit unless you were fire or dark

again switching a single target attack for a AOE this would definitely impact stones great single target burst damage which wouldn't exactly help a set that's already some what ham strung by its use of purely smashing damage

no where dose it say that fire melee, ice melee, stone melee are fist based sets if there names were fire/ice/stone fist fighting i could see your point but its not. Melee simply refers to a style of combat that happens up close

one thing keeps bothering me is that every elemental melee power has a weapon, something that just doesn't belong there.
what i would like to see is actual melee attacks, no transformed weapons where i wounder "i didn't ask for a stone hammer power, i want stone melee"
but in order to change it, there needs to be some replacements.
fire melee:
-fire pillar(replace fire sword)
punch at the feet of the target enemy to make a fire pillar, target enemy and everyone adjusting to the enemy takes dmg.
-fire burst(replace fire sword circle)
concentrate your firepower inside your body and burst it out, knocking everyone around you back and takes burning damage overtime.

for a limited amount of time, your powers are instant recharged and you do 3x more damage.

-frost hedgehog(replaces ice sword)
