Those endless mob hunts.

Number 204. Kill huge amounts of Toxic Tarantulas. Fly around for a few hours in Grandville and try not to outlevel contact before you get it. I am sure this is a nice contact. Never managed to do him though.

Viridian. Well for this one you need to kill left and right. Crey, rikti, freak tanks, lost bosses and lets not forget 200 Crey protectors. Hope you like farming missions for this one.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only one i've yet to do is the Slot Machine

Number 204, considering the huge amount of work it takes to get the Toxi Ts, especially before lvl 45, is such an anticlimax. Somewhat well written, but just short and boring.

Viridian's "The Conference of Evil" OTOH is my personal favourite arc in the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well Slot machine is fun but worth hunting for a hours and hours? In fact working much longer to obtain the contact then you will spend doing the contact? I have done it once and sadly that will be it. Just as i missed 204. I'ts not worth doing it like it is now.

[/ QUOTE ]

Tbh, I do that hunt on every toon for HPT. I'm quite content to go and do the arc via ouro if the mood takes me. Some of the secret contacts however have such a massive gulf in quality. Viridian/Doc Buzzsaw/Ghosty Night widow woman = fantastic...

Henri Dufail and Number 204 = terrible. Just plain awful.

So I guess you can view the hunts as a distinguishing feature for those who care about quality of content enough to take time away from xpees to hunt, or as a mindless chore stopping the player from reaching what is rightfully theirs (or something)

I for one don't have a problem with it, but I'm in no way belittling anyone who dislikes it, as I can understand the frustration

(Carni Hammer = Illusionist badge...on villains (when nobody runs it for the accolade) = harsh...but what a sense of a achievement that must be )

[/ QUOTE ]

Illusionists on villian side. Shudder. Another task I for sure will never ever do unless we get convenient farmer missions like the heroes have and even then. Those are horrible as well.

Just wondering, did you do the untouchable badge as well? Or do you consider that to much effort?

I'm quite a chronic badger, so most hunts that have a badge tied to them, i'd get anyway.

I did CoH Family bosses and Lost Bosses in Nerva port. An afternoon, not 'wasted', as such...but certainly not a pleasant one :P

Just liked to add that my mains (hero and villain) have all the badges except for the PvP ones and the more epic level ones. The PvP ones because I hate it and the epic ones because I can't/won't farm for them. If they happen, they happen.

Impressive. Most impressive, a feat I cannot say I have repeated. But I never doubted that there are amongst us that are willing to go to the challenge. Die hard badgers and all. Just as there are persons who pwnrz everyone in PvP or can do Positron in less then an hour or the skislope in a badgewinning time.

However, not everyone one is and I will be neither of those persons. And it is a shame that good content is almost never accesed by a lot of the playerbase because the challenge to fullfill the requirements to be able to are so hard and tedious to get.

But isn't that how games work? Achievement points on the Xbox? Getting 100% at a really hard game (Spider-Man 2 - one of the best games in the world :P )

Isn't the point of badges that they are a symbol of what you've achieved, so that you can wear them with pride?

Eh, which good content is this? the only unlocked contact that is particularly interesting is Doc Buzzsaw, and she is easy.

I really should do something about this signature.

How can you NOT like Viridian's arc you Philistine!

With badges sure. With badges that unlock something nice like a weapon or contact, no. It is a waste of developers time to make something that will be experienced with less then 1% of the playerbase.

Johnny Sonata, Television, Slot machine, Viridian all not worth doing? I disagree fully on this but everyone is entitled to his own preferences of course.

And yes, I would like to do even a tedious contact like 204. In fact I like to do every contact available. So wehn i level a new toon I can follow another path then the previous ones.

TV is easy to unlock, so is Johnny Sonata.

Doc Buzzsaw is much harder to unlock now after the xp curve smoothing. It requires the bling badge and I'm usually over level 30 before I get it. Before they changed the xp earned in the 20s I usually got it around level 27/28.

With the problem of fewer contacts in villains It makes more sense to unlock all the hidden contacts and allow us to play them as regular contacts instead. As someone stated earlier some of them require you to do things that take a lot longer to collect than the actual mission lengths of the contacts themselves. Most people aren't going to bother with the effort required particularly as it is so easy to outlevel the contact before you actually manage to unlock them.

Posted

Indeed. The trouble we are in now because of the faster xp gaining makes unlocking additional contacts even harder and less rewarding then before. So people are forced to level up through the same boring old contacts as they did before. Resulting in boredom. Opening up these contacts would give the players a bit more choice and more fun.

Actully, it isn't, because inf was ajusted in line with XP. XP/inf ratio remained unchanged. I find I always get Bling before level 30 through normal play.

If you exemplar or do some Ouroboros missions it is very easy to get.

On one of my 44's I got bling slightly after I reached 30, on the other after L31. Now that I am more aware of unlockable contacts I probably can get it sooner; that is, if I don't forget. Having said that, I really wouldn't mind if the contacts were simply available.

One contact I tried to unlock but got annoyed/frustrated with was with trapping ghosts.

Ah yes Veluta. The ghost trapping thing is something of a trial and error and a lot of luck. BTW it is also part of an Accolade. So there should be some people willing to do this one.
