5 Bonus Cap?

While creating a godly build in Mids, it came up saying that a power has exceeded the 5 bonus cap, for the 10% recharge of the set. What is this cap all about, and how can I avoid it?

The cap's a simple one - you can't repeat any particular Set bonus (in your case a 10% recharge reduction) more than 5 times; the 6th try (and beyond) will be ignored.

It's only exact repeats that count, so even if you have 5 x 10% rec red bonuses, you can still get the benefit from Sets that give 5%, or 7.5% rec red, etc... As long as you only have 5 or less of each of those other bonuses too, of course...

Hi Mate,

The game wont allow you to have a particular set bonus any more than 5 times. That means, if an io set grants a 10% recharge, you have that bonus 4 more times. Similarly if you slotted a set that gives 1.88% max health bonus (which is common amongst quite a few sets) you would only be able to slot 4 more of ANY set that gave that bonus, even though the bonus was from a completely different TYPE of set.

In your case, uve got 7 purple sets (hope you've robbed a bank btw) and your attempt to gain a 70% recharge bonus has been limited by the game's "cap" to only allow you to have 5 of that particular bonus i.e. 5 x 10% rech bonus - even if the bonuses come from DIFFERENT sets.

My opinion would be to drop the pet set (its sucks anyway) and drop the stun set as you can gain 6.25% recharge from Stupefy Stun Set and its reasonbly cheap. Its good to have the purple sets in your earlier powers as they'll work even when malefactored (as long as you have the power - hence purples better in early powers) Can you take Cinders earlier??

I think you'll find that purple sets bonuses work no matter what level you are. Even if you slotted a purple set in your level 49 power you'd still get the bonus at level one as there all unique, same with any unique.

Also, IO sets well give the bonuses depending on the IO level not what move you put them in. Again, for example put a Luck of the Gambler set in stealth - level 40's (which lets say you also got at level 49) and you exemp to level 40 you would still get the bonuses awarded to you, even though you don't have the power.

Was there really a need for this statement?
Furthermore, when I'm malefactored to lev 40, my 10% recharge from my purple'd Patron webnade (lev 41) instantly disappears from my combat attributes lowering my 207.5% recharge to a measily 197.5%. If you are correct, can you explain my data please?

AFAIK your ment to keep any Purple bonus when expemt, are you sure you dont have a extra 10percent rech from sets of the other powers? as that is not whats ment to happen.

Anyway, bonus rules aside, I made some ammendments to your build (hope you don't mind). I'm not sure its perfect but I'm sure others here can point out the faults

a)
Removed the slot for ACC from fire cages (with 5 purple sets, you wont be needing that in there), put it in Stamina and put the Perfomance Shifter +END in there. This way it will have more chance of going off and if I'm not mistaken, if you put it in SPD BOOST, it'll give the +END to your target and not yourself.

b)
Slotted up Tough with 4 x Imp. Armour - can never have too much end imo

c)
Swapped Cinders with Flashfire, kept Purple set in Cinders but swapped Hold/End for Acc/Rech. You are a kin, if you're desparate then you've got the tools for +end and an aoe hold is worth having up asap.

d)
Slotted set of Stupefy in Flashfire - it's all about the recharge baby! Oh yeah it's also about the recovery!!

e)
Slotted Mind over Body in same way as Tough, see above.

f)
Removed a slot from Hot Feet and put it in Health, slotted Health with 2 uniques. RECOVERY !!!!!! (I also figured with 5 purple sets intedned, expense wasn't a consideration in this build)

g)
Removed slot from Pet Set and put it in Super Speed, Hami'd up - nothing like capped speed !!

Sorry if was not clear, none of my other powers above 40 give 10% recharge or any recharge bar other than Web Nade.

First off, yes there was.

Second, obviously you have 2 IO sets on other powers giving you 5% recharge each, which are level 50 IO's. As you are now level 40 they no longer work.

Like i said in my last post, it's the enhancement level that counts not the slots or power.

a) Correct. The acc is not really needed and the chance for end is given to the person you SB

b) Franken slotting works better here, forget the set bonuses. Go resistance and resistance/end from 2 sets

c) Seeing as you can pick flashfire first it makes sense to pick it first but each to there own i guess

d) Wise choice with the set seeing as the purple set wasn't doing anything

e) Same as tough, see above.

f) I prefer 6 slotted hot feet but that's without a purp set in there as a farmer is supposed to make money not soak it all up but meh.

g) I don't have Super Speed on my farmer, that's what Siphon Speed is for, as well as recharge. Hami-O's are ok if you can get them but the 66% end reduction isn't worth the extra cash when transference is back every 8 seconds.



Imo there's a few powers in that build enhanced for bonuses rather than improving the power. As i've said a little way up this post, keep it as cheap as possible as it's supposed to be making you Inf

Notice how i only have 37.5% recharge? 3 purp sets and one LotG +rech. The crushing impacts and red fortune set's aren't level 40 so there not working, yet i've got a KB IO (level 22) on combat jumping (a power i can't use in warburg) same as the purple set on caltrops, yet it's still working


And this is my build. The empty slots are for more LotG +recharge when i get them. It's just to show you when i picked and slotted the purple sets. If you remove to other +recharge sets you'll see i'll be left with just 37.5%. Posting this as i can't show you the enhancement screen.

The wiki stuff doesn't include info on the ultra rares. The article is marked as 'work in progress'

Some evidence to suggest that they shouldn't work if the power is unavailable, so don't get used to it, it could be a bug.

Least on both of my toons that have purples I keep the set bonuses whether I'm lvl 1 or 50. This is most visible on my ice/mental, keeping confuse (lvl 28 power) and sleep (lvl 41 power) sets when I exemped to 15 (or 14? Ouro'd Spelunker) last night.

From this page on ParagonWiki it looks like Purple sets' bonuses should work at all levels.

Comparing this to what's on the other page it looks like this is a special case, and for non-Purples bonuses do vanish when they're slotted in an unavailable power.
