Brutes =! tanks
Post a build up (Mids, hand written) and people may be able to offer more direct advice, got nothing to go on here.
Be sure to run the +def mob toggle, have your shields well slotted, and don't play it like a 'tank' unless you're trying for a taunter-brute = my 2 inf
Well, I'm not feeling to well today so I won't write it up today.
But all my defensive skils have 4 slots or more slotted with FULL defensive/resist damage.
My attack skills follow the same more or less.
Have you taken the fighting pool for tough & Weave?

I dont think Brutes are designed for, or indeed capable of hardcore tanking like tanks, so perhaps lowering your expectations may be a bitter but necessary pill to swallow.
As far as I am aware, Invulnerability thrives mainly against Smash/Lethal damage (you should be getting up to around 60-70% if you take tough, which you should) and in fairly big groups where Invincibility can shine.
If you want to hardcore tank as a Brute, you will definately need Tough and Weave, and probably the unique Resistance IO that gives +3 defence (all).
However, I cant see you tanking large amounts of non smash/lethal, and you will be paper thin against anything with /psi, for instance.
Brutes arent tanks at the end of the day. I think its reasonable to expect them to a) take the alpha, b) take the boss and c) make sure the squishies arent dropping and taunt appropriately. But its probably not realistic to routinely expect them to herd huge groups and sit their laughing.

I dare say, one can make a brute which'll perform very similar to certain types of tanks against certain damage types.
Brutes I believe have same res cap and hp cap so what they can be buffed into and made capable off looks good.

You're not a tank. Stop trying to tank. Run in there and smash the everloving s*** out of everything that moves. The second you stop ripping out spines and crushing skulls to do some tanking, you hand in your Brute badge and spiky armour, slide into some girly spandex and have a good long cry when your team mates die instead of using their body as a projectile or shield.

the thing about invuln is how you approach each mob. A Regen or SR can sit on the outside of the mob and whittle away at them. An Invuln needs to get right into the middle of the mob and use the taunt aura to improve the defence you get from invincibility. Playstyle makes a difference although as has been said, a Brute is not a tank!

As tolf before, Tough and Weave may help, also this Defense bonus Tactic Skill ad Combat Jumping.
Invul is an tricky Build, but with thoose Powers you be like an Invul Tank or near to that.
Its then an combination of Defense and Resistanc, as said above you soud set Mish in an Way you have more Mobs before higher Mobs , so you have more Defense.
Against the right Mobs you shoud be able to ge over 60 %resi and over 20 % Defense.

I find that with fury up, fight duration is lower and then you don't need to sit in mobs for as long as a tank would and on top of that you can be buffed into the tanks level of survivability.

Hello, I'm keeping this short as I really don't know what to say.
I'm a level 41 Brute with SS/INV and Ghost widows Patron pool.
I have around 36% Inv and I can't seem to get it any higher, I feel like paper and I can't take ANYTHING, even with Unstoppable I still drop like a log.
I have 55 Million infmany, so I can buy some sets, but I'm thinking of just scrapping my brute at 50 because I can't tank at all.
