Fire/Kin

OK, just got my Fire/Kin to level 9 this morning.

I've got a few questions:

1. Should I take Stamina? Or is it one of those builds you don't need it?

2. Is Fulcrum Shift worth the wait?

3. What travel power should I take along with it's buffing friends?

4. Can anyone give me a suitable PvE build?

5. And the big one...this is a bit more personal question but...should I use it as a farming toon or one of my other toons?

Thanks for help.

1. Yes, take it!
2. Hell yeah it's worth the wait
3. Flight or SJ are always good (SJ if you want acrobatics)
4. Sorry i kinda guessed with mine
5. Use it for either - very good farming build!!

If you take no travel power its quite feasabile with a /kin, you can easily survive on jetpack/jump pack until level 28 for inertia reduction, especailly with siphon speed.

Acro not necessary for PvE for a long way now, not when, if you pop stealth in your build you can slot the -KB Karma in there, and 4 slot bonfire with Kinetic Crash (i think, one that gives you -KB) and your running about 9 -KN, plenty good, imo.

Cant help you with a build unfortunatly my fire/kin is too low to see if what im planning is actually effective or not.

As for farming do what you want, its your choice how you handle the endgame.

nothing personal Phantom - but with the number of .... erm... ill conceived guides that you do put out - do u not read some of the good ones listed in the forum guides?

for you kind perusal sir :
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showf...art=1&vc=1

in addition to a nice guide to the fire/kin troller, its also a nicely laid out guide.

some of my personal opinions answer to ur questions:

1. IMO yes. Some say u can make do with transference at L35; but i couldnt. Also if u plan on using hot feet early - u will need it.
2. Yes. Considering FS is one of the jewels of the Kin set; most definately yes.
3. Almost always in my trollers and tanks i go for CJ/SJ. acrobatics is kinda optional with proc IOs now IMHO. I do agree with mega jamie though - you can easily skip a travel power with kinetics.
4. Link above has some good builds - but I have yet to go with a build 100% cos of personal variance
5. Now u see - from someone who has yet to ding 50 with my fire/kin whose been around since I6 (or 7? lol damn altitis) - i think fire/kins get a hard time. Yes i admit they are good farmers - but they are also rather fun toons to play - both solo or teamed. SO enjoy - really loved levelling my fire/kin; who is currently sitting at L40 I think - damn you power proliferation!

Good luck with your fire/kin and with your guide writing mate

Well with my Fire/Kin at level 50 i can tell you that this toon is incredibly useful to farm with, you WILL need influence if you want to become the best.
As for your questions here is what i have to say:

1) Stamina should always be taken as the difference is significant for when you get into an 'uh-oh' situation where your transference misses and your end. has almost depleted it can usually keep up your shields and auras meaning it will keep you alive. I take this power on all my toons

2) Fulcrum Shift is where you will be getting most of your damage from and is DEFINITELY worth the wait, it has a nice recharge rate and you should be able to use it every time when entering a new mob with hasten on etc (tip - use in the middle of a group of enemies for its full effectiveness)

3) If your planning on farming with this toon i suggest you take hasten and super speed first. Personally i didn't bother with inertial reduction as i took hurdle from the fitness pool, which allowed me to get over most obstacles in a farm with ease.

4) There are great builds everywhere, just look some more. Try around different sites, although i'm sure there will be a decent one somewhere on this forum.

5) You need to answer this question for yourself, as you don't want to be doing something you find boring for hours upon end, especially when paying monthly for it Although you don't see many fire/kins that don't farm as its incredibly easy when well slotted. My advice to you is that you should try it for a bit see if you like the profit, if not, switch to a different perspective or your troller

Hope that helps, Peace Out
Nuke. x

Quick and easy guide to Fire/Kin if you *ever* want to farm with it

Essential
: Fire imps, stamina, transfusion, fulcrum shift, hasten, transference, flashfire, cinders

Should have
: Hot feet, siphon speed, fire mastery epic for fire-ball and fire-shield

Nice to have
: Speed boost ( for imps, but I can never be bothered ), accrobatics or KB IO's

The idea is to stun/hold the mobs with flashfire or cinders ( never waste both on the same group ), FS once the imps arrive and then fireball whilst the imps tear through them.

Hasten is required to get flashfire and cinders back up quickly enough. Spihon speed helps on this too.

The rest is just gravy.

Slotting etc should be left to the full guides.
