That, my good sir, is what's known as a P-String!
Basically, all text in the game is identified by a P-String. This then is used as a lookup in the game PIGG files for the relevant language text. Sometimes, there's no actual text for the string, so you just see the P-string instead.
Very very VERY old error, but you should /bug it so they can correct it (yeah, right).

Oh, all the non-contact soldiers in the Shadow Shard have it. They have been like that for at least three years!
At least they don't have invisble furniture now.

Also had this precise message, I think it is a hero side zone event message. I assumed it was for babbage as I have yet to see a message for him appreaing in Boomtown... however as I was in Boomtown at the time of the message and I checked out his spawn points I didn't see him... so maybe not.
It's color indicate that is from what LostNinja say.
If there is a time schedule for them that is known or if server keeps log of them, some timestamps from Union server that might help you (adjusted for BST):

I've seen this a few times too, also in the colour of hero zone event messages. The first time I saw it was in the afternoon of May 23, so it looks like it's been there since the release of I12, and isn't something from one of the smaller patches since.

I was just about to take a named boss (Three Bind - Snake IIRC) down, in an instanced paper mish... when I saw the P string. As mentioned above, believe it was in the hero event message colour. Can't remember the exact P number though!
P.S. What do I need to amend to take screenshots, that include chat box, nav box, power trays etc....

sysrq "screenshotui 0$$screenshot"
shift+sysrq "screenshotui 1$$screenshot"
That way, every time you click shift with print screen, will include the User Interface

I can't remember exactly and sadly i didn't take a note of the exact details of the mission as i felt it didn't really bother me at the time... but it was on one of the first few clockwork missions with 'Fireblades', my Dual Blades / Fire Technology Scrapper and the server was Union.
The initial screenshot was in a warehouse with a lot of clocks - filename: screenshot_2008-06-26-21-53-18 if that helps - not sure what info you can get from that as i can't tell you the mission name.. If you want me to bug it, i can also do that, but i haven't yet ?

I just used Alt-PrtScn, rather than a bind, as i wasn't aware of the bind... then pasted it into mspaint and cropped it to just show the message.
If so, any idea what it is please ?
