Why make base items from salvalge?

My little base has control issues.

I can build most of the control aux items, but they cost more per control to place than the ready made ones.

My question is; Why do I have to pay more for an item I salvaged and built, than for one 'off the shelf?'

Surely the point of salvage is to get new bits for the base? Why make them more expensive than normal versions?

Stone Pharoah:Tanker Lvl 50 Stone/SS
Robospike:Mastermind Lvl 50 Robotics/FF/Mu
Static Burn:Blaster Lvl 50 Fire/Electric/Munitions
Hidden Burn:Tanker Lvl 50 Fire/Dark
More on the way...

I agree totally, seems like a kick in the teeth after making the items only for the damn things to burst the bank.

The build yourself items have always been a waste of time, save up and get a super computer if you want more bang for buck.

Not all of them - I've made a couple of the wall monitors purely for aesthetic reasons

Admittedly both of my bases already have the supercomputer and aren't lacking for control/energy.

Totally agree, only a few **k inf at WW/BM so there's no real point, unless you're hardcore and want to do it the more difficult and expensive way.

Yeah. The holodisplay. Pretty in a control room, but pointless against an Advanced Database. Go figure.

Yeah that holodisplay looks cool - I stuck one of those in our villain base purely because of the way it looks. The stats on it are pretty rubbish though (par for the course with most of the aux control items you can make, tbh).

I made lots of items for the looks alone... Some arent even attached.

It gives you the option to go beyond the basic items and make an unique look. Was really happy with the defensive items... Gave me two gargoyles to place on either side of my throne ...

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

As I recall, the teleport pad (not the raid one) can only be made from salvage. There is no pre-formed version.

Given that you have to craft them from Salvage and pay extortionate amounts of money to place them, what really boils my blood is that if you then delete the item, for example a teleport pad because you're moving from the 2-square to 4-square room but don't have enough money or space for both at the same time (so you've nowhere to put your TP Pad while deleting one room and creating the other) you lose the item completely and have to start from scratch. You couldn't discourage people from using Salvage-crafted base items more if you gave them some sort of Herpesesque team-debuff aura for using them.

That has been my biggest gripe with the base builder from day 1.

Why on earth they couldnt have put an off map storage area in it to avoid that problem is beyond me.

that has always been one of the bigest gripes with the base editer the inability to save constructed stuff especial if you have an sg member who makes something useful but places it in a very anoying or stupid place you either need to [censored] about for hours or delete it and make it again

Yeah this bugged me when having a base reshuffle. I only have the smallest plot size with there only really being me in the SG and to move teleporters about means deleting and recreating which caused great annoyance
