I'm just curious. On paper the SoA look real squishy - a passive resistance buff, a (PBAoE) +def toggle. Both have fairly low numbers, though you can obviously stack the toggle from many SoA.

In-game, Bane Spiders are like frikkin' Tankers. And Crab Spiders aren't too bad at taking hits either, compared to other enemies. Hell, look at the suits they wear!

Seriously though, reading the test server comments it seems Banes play like Dominators without the control primary. A mix of ranged and melee attacks, but virtually no defensive abilities (as far as melee is concerned), so if you decide to pull out that big fat mace you might as well save yourself the trouble and hit yourself in the head with it. Oh, and their Placate got nerfed with no buff to counter it, because of PvP (afaik. I heard it was because people could reach 7 seconds recharge on it and just harass people in PvP.)

When I heard the SoA were gonna be the VEATs, I figured Banes would be a mix of Scrapper + Stalker, having a lower crit modifier but having stealth and being able to stay in melee without dying horribly, too. And that Crabs would be something like ranged Tankers. Well, maybe not as tough as Tankers.

Now from what I've read, Night Widows are the only actual ones with a taunt. Okay, I suppose.
Crabs sound like they can take a hit or two.
Banes sound like they're made of paper.

(...and I'm not even sure yet how Fortunata are different from Mind/Psi Dominators with the Leadership pool powers.)

So why did Arachnos armor start to suck? Longbow sabotage?

I think the problem is in part due to the fact that people went to the VEATs with preconceptions of what they would be (for example people thought that Banes would be Scrapper/stalkers or that even they would be Scrapper/MM's judging from the vid) instead of going in and analysing the class and working out stratagies on their own. in saying that I dont contest that Banes do pale in comparison to their brothers and sisters but they can be made to work well but never GREAT.

I might come to expect a fix to Banes, "just what?" Will be the question. Do they really deserve to be able to have I dunno say 60% def in PvP if they gave it 10% base def in Combat Training: Defensive or is that overpowered? Afaik maybe they were never meant to have such a high recharged placate to begin with and if so then I wouldn't hold too much hopes.

I know I was making a joke based on ALLLL those god darn Archon foss missions from the papers "go here and defeat Archon foss...." who happens to be a soldier then the next time i fight him hes a Vampyre then the next time a Warwolf then a mechman and then a Hoverbot lol

anyway back on track, What is saddening me so much is that all this talk of Banes being COMPLETELY useless *which they arnt* will lead to Banes most likely being shunned from teams which is sad to say the least.

then again one thing that goes in any SoA's favour is that merely by being on the team they boost the team vastly making it ALMOST like godmode if theres more than three on a team.

Im looking forward to levelling my bane on live, they are a challange to play and they look good too.

Well be my hero (villain ) and find that perfect playstyle! Right now, i don't think even the devs know what we're supposed to do with Banes.

the thing im dissapointed about is the banes we get are nothing like the ones u fight in game in terms of survivability, the defence/resistance valus are so low that if our versions were the NPC's they would probably be farmed...well maybe not but you get my point...right?

Also, im praying the Devs see the error of there ways and buff banes soon, i have no interest in the other VEATs so the banes are it for me

yeah, that about sums it up really, you can see how bad the bane spiders are if you just compare them to the NPC ones, they are so much better AND the NPC ones have less skills too! But theirs aren't so weak
