You mean a global chat channel? There already are some; the most well known one being GGOOC. Originally intended to keep OOC chat out of local at GG, but now far more generally a chatroom for RPers.

With the arrival of Issue 12 and a 10 global channel max, it might be nice to have a Looking For RP channel set up, where RP'ers could request RP teams, missions, or just general IC meet ups somewhere in the city. As said, GGOOC can get a bit weird, and it's mostly just a social chat room instead of something as a tool for RPing.
It's a good way to get to know everyone, and let them see your not as wierd OOC as you are IC.

While we're doing ideas, in LARP we have a thing called Monstering, where people go play short one shot characters to fill out a plot (Or jsut go act all monstery and hit people)
Do you think this could catch on? For when people need..say psychatrists, or a mugger, or a messenger, or a refugee, or a concerened citizen, or a lawyer, or... whatever! Sure it'll require people willing to keep a character slot free and a level of trust they'll play it responsibly. But I thought it could be fun!
Heh. Plasmarch has a lawyer character plot-monkey. She's great. I can never remember her name (which is annoying, coz she's a prestige-monkey member of the WoD). Unfortunately, I have 24 character slots full on Union, all with RP toons (and thanks to Solar I now have a burning desire to bring Maera out to play...), so until we get the bonus character slots, I couldn't do this, but oh, it should be fun.

"The Toolbox" seems like the perfect name for such a channel (*giggles*), and it could be carried along with Loup's idea for an RP Roundtable. I know actually, there is already a channel for the RP Roundtable. It's not very popular at the moment, so if it could be relaunched as a global thing which the community supports that'd be great.
Everything that exists before obviously has its limitations, so a place for RP Recruitment and general discussion would be awesome. Setting it up shouldn't be too hard if we can scour the Union Wiki for global names and keep everyone informed by word of mouth.
A tutorial detailing exactly how to set up a channel in your UI would also be necessary, as it confuses a lot of people.
The EVE Online community does this really well, IC with the Intergalactic Summmit channel, a great piece of work where fierce fictional political battles are waged. If we do an OOC version, the only thing that would stop it from becoming useful would be weak advertising.
I'm up for getting this idea on the road, anyone want to join me?

Aye, RP roundtable is still open. However, like the Fourth, it rather requires people to take a vested interest in it and use it. RP happens when people create it, so rather than sit back and wait, you let, get in there and go for it!
At the moment I have no "plot monkey" character spaces left, but once the I12 comes I will. Otherwise the rest of my character are pritty much fexible and can help or call in a favour from one of their contacts for any Rper at GG or anywhere really.
Just remember if it's Sean (aka Sha'dower atm) that you deal with, it's his old rule: " A favour for a favour, and trust me.. I do call on them sometimes, might not be right away, but I do have quite alot saved up."
One thing to remember when creating global channels, is that you can use more then one word as the name.
So you can have "The Toolbox" or "TheToolbox". Sending a message to them would require the following commands:
/send "the toolbox" I have something to say
and
/send thetoolbox I have something to say
Personally, I prefer the latter. Also because of the Dutch use of " requires a space typed after it to get it, as it holds the " for the addition of a letter, like e or a or o to create ë, ä and ö.
It's the reason I created GGOOC as GGOOC and not GG OOC.
Personally, I'm no longer a GGOOC member because of the silliness (and me not being the most social person), but I'd join a purpose channel like LFRP or similar.

there's RP_Roundtable which has been said is already in existence. There is the Fourth Wall, which was a club originally created by Coile to house roleplayers. You can either join that and rp in the club itself, or approach me and have your supergroup join. There are quite a few coalitioned members but (and I will say this now and make this a bigger announcement later) if said SGs aren't actually using the space, I'll clear them off and allow an SG who will. It's a nice space and I'm grateful to have it and run it. It's open for events (masquerades, parties, even major hush hush meetings), and also open for redside players if they want to play "look alikes" provided they don't let on too much who they are. Sky's the limit and it is just a matter of people willing to organise it.
There was a fellow a few days back who showed me this AMAZING base he'd created to look like a bowling alley. And it quite literally looks EXACTLY like a bowling alley. I'm sure that would be good for a lighthearted rp laugh with people dressed in coloured t-shirts and symbols for their teams.
Essentially, the players are there, the venues are there, and the willingness is there - what is lacking is the initiative, so if there's something you want to do, use the channel, get involved, step up to the plate.

Okay here's my idea.
Because we already have a CoX roleplaying list and a SG list , isn't it a good idea to make only one channel for roleplayers, so we can easily communicate and find eachother, and besides maybe just a meeting spot somewhere central we can meet up?
