Radiation OR Electric with Kinetics ?

Hello

I am planning to create a new character, a defender obviously, otherwise this would not be posted here... ok, I'll go and sip a coffee...

Back.

OK what I wanted to ask to the defender gurus:

Kinetics + Electric Blast OR Kinetics + Radiation Blast

I think the first has a good endurance draining potential (transference + short circuit) and the second has maybe more "melee" range powers that would benefit from the kinetic buffs.

What would be more effective and more "synergic"?

Also, I would like to know if those combos could be more or less easily soloable, because my highest level defender (lvl 35 dark/dark) is very good defending teams but has the damage potential of a crippled turtle and it takes ages to kill anything with him. Everybody says Kinetics is very good and lately there has been quite some talk about Fire/Kin controllers. All that has made me want to roll some Kinetics character... and don't really want it to be a Fire/Kin troller that needs to wait until level 33 to get enhanced Fire Imps to shine.

So far, my experience with those sets (Kinetics/Electric Blast/Radiation Blast) is practically non-existant: Grav/kinetics controller to level 10, elec/elec blaster up to level 14, rad/rad defender up to level 22 (deleted), rad/elec defender up to level 15.

All your input will be very appreciated.

Kinetics and Electrics works well together due to the endurance draining properties of both (short circuit and transferance for example). It will certainly have a bit more damage output than Darkness. You can skip a travel power if you wish due to Inertial Reduction (a super jump)and may also skip stamina if you wish once you get Transference later on. This could allow for more attacks and a more offensive addition the build if required.

That said, Defenders in general are not very high damage (even kinetics with the boosts) and while certainly soloable, they can be a little slow paced in comparison to most other ATs.

Actually it takes 38 levels to be uber which is when you get Fulcrum Shift. Yes, Imps are great but the trick is on Flashfire followed by FS + Firecages and Hotfeet (and later Fireball or any other AoE you pick from Epics).

Enough with Fire/Kin talk tho. Kin/Rad got more synergy. Rad DefDebuffs will help you hit Kinetic powers more often. On the other hand, Kin/Elec is great for End drain.

I think Kin/Rad will end up doing better solo thanks to Cosmic Burst. It's just great.

That said, my vote goes for Kin/Rad

Probably mine too, my level 29 Kin/Elec still finds soloing slow enough. The draining is fun but even just a smidgen of End and they'll attack.

with the End Drain IOs coming though you should be able to get a nice balance in Short Circuit which ideally needs 4 things slotted : Acc, End Mod, Recharge and Damage.

But I'd vote Rad too for the synergy and the 2 AOEs & Cone.

Argh.

Now another doubt assaults me... Kin/Rad defender or Rad/Kin corruptOr?

What to do? What to do?

In that case, a Kin/Rad Defender, seeing as you seem to like playing them. It should also let you skip travel powers, if you so choose.

Whichever you fancy, but for soloing, the corruptor will definitely be better. The Defender would be manageable once you have Cosmic Burst, prior to that, you may find it somewhat frustrating.

Either are characters that will function at their best in larger teams.

Rad does go with Kinetics though. The defence debuff compliments a set that requires you to hit with most of the powers, and the AOEs do quite nice damage once you put yourself at the damage cap with Fulcrum Shift.

Stick with the good ones. Always.

Indeed, Rad Aoe's coupled with FS can make for some impressive damage for a Defender (although you shouldn't ignore the debuffs in favour of Damage) with irradiate and Neutron bomb as well as some impressive spike damage.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread but saves creating another for one answer. Can someone tell me which IO it is that gives Kins knockback protection when slotted in ID? Can't find the blighters anywhere on the auction.
