Spines/SR - sacrificing travel power for survival

After playing my spines/SR travel powerless for a while I decided to make a build for even more survival; keeping aid self instead of a travel power and sacrificing a few powers for the fighting pool (for tough and weave).

This is the build that I decided would be the final one. IOs in the build I mostly already have and those that I dont arent that expensive.

Any ideas / suggestions / feedback about the build really appreciated! Although keep in mind that it is strictly a PvE build.

I would try and get health in there somewhere so u can slot miracle + recov and numina +regen+recov
having a 50 spine/sr myself i found the end drain with fa and quils to pretty heavy... with miracle and numina uniques on health i have no end problems at all!

if u want to have /sr with no travel power i would suggest slotting sprint with 3run, quick 2 run, and swift 2 run, also 5 slots on elude with 3 rech/def HOs and 2 run IOs..
i have done this on my spine/sr and reach speed cap when eluded.
i would try and fit hasten in there somewhere.. my spine/sr only uses 3 attacks by the time the first attack is rech already. imo hasten is a must.

not sure about fighting pool. weave only gives very minimal def, if u want a bit of extra def i would just go with cj and get sj for a travel power. CJ gives about 3% def.. weave gives 8%ish... for pve the extra 5% wont really help u that much imo. esp not with the end drain on weave and running tough at same time.
Tried looking at this in pve point of view since my spine/sr is 80% pvp and full IO.

Well, I could swap hurdle for health but I dont think I will have the inf for a miracle +recov or a numi +recov in ages. Besides, I got conserve and I can use blues. And anyways, I dont have FA.

I dont think I need hasten tbh, I run an attack chain of lunge +impale+ripper+throw spines, works well for me.

The fighting pool is there for the extra 11% def. 3% from tough and 8'ish from weave. That really adds for some survival. The 5% from weave does more than you think, raising def from 39% to 44'ish for melee (decreasing the chance to get hit in melee to 6%), 35% to 40% for ranged (decreasing the chance to get hit by ranged attacks to 10%) and from 33 to 38% for aoe (decreasing the chance to get hit to 12% from aoes).

I'm not going to get a travel power really, just cant fit in with all the other stuff. Also, I wont be running tough, it's there just for the +3% def global bonus.

Also noticed you took stamina quite late in your build, not much exemping for TFs

That Gift of the Ancients you had alone in Focused senses, I've changed it for the last Red Fortune so you get 2.5% more ranged def. I also removed the endrdx from weave and added a Steadfast Protecion res/end in Tough to alleviate the endurance from Tough a bit since your Gift of the ancients in Weave already had some end rdx plus another endrdx in Tough.

On paper, your endurance seemed all right so I removed Conserve Power and put 2 Gift of the Ancients in Lucky for extra recovery.
I put Health instead of Hurdle, maybe you don't have enough inf for a Numina Unique, but you might have a lucky drop so you can equip it, in the meantime, some more regen by just equipping a heal IO is always handy and better than Hurdle.
I removed a runspeed from quickness and put it to sprint. My reasoning is that you can turn sprint on and off for example inside a cave map (mines or council...) where you can turn sprint off and avoid that extra speed which may be uncomfortable.
With your current defenses, you might not need Elude that often, so if you get a few lucky drops of Luck of the Gambler (specially the 7.5% rchg) you can equip them there or maybe leave 1 rchg and 2xGift of the Ancients for extra recovery.

I never had a spines, but on paper this build looks good, worth giving it a try on test server imho


Edit: Actually disregard the bit about Gift of the Ancients in Elude. If you go for Gift of the Ancients in Lucky, another Gift of the Ancients will be over the 5 times bonus cap, so no point in using it on Elude.

About your build Nightmarer... I'm not going to toggle tough anyway so not worth putting those enhancements there. The 15'ish% S/L resistance wont do much with my defences tbh.

Switching the 2nd run IO from quickness to sprint might actually be a good idea. The run speed will stay at about the same, right?

I'm quite settled on taking conserve, currently even with only the SR toggles + quills I seem to need it every now and then, add weave to that and it will be needed even more often.



Anyways, I'm most probably trying both of the builds on test when I get the chance. Thanks for comments so far!

i got health with the the 2 uniques because i pvp alot. and took stamina so late so could fit in other powers for wb. and just assumed u had FA because thats a beautifull power imo :P

Best PVE travel power for SRs is flight, you get a flight speed boost and can maneuver all over the place. Tough and weave I ain't ever needed once 50 (enemies only get so much higher). Weave is insignificant in PVP and Tough is only S/L.

I think I would replace a few Gift of the Ancients for LotGs for some extra recharge bonus. I mean, my Spines/SR doesn't have travel power either and I run hella fast without any GotA's in it. I might get one or two tho.

Also, why don't you place a 6th Red Fortune on your SR toggles for Range defence? You hitting soft cap without them?
