Rolling a new /SR scrapper but can't decide on a primary....help?

Katana for PvE and survivability/damage (Divine Avalanche).
MA for PvP and mez/damage (Stuns and Immobs).

MA has a slightly stronger + faster activating attack chain, but doesn't come close to Kat's survivability.

MA's smashing damage is slightly less resisted than Katana's lethal, but they are both very nice sets. MA has a decent attack chain earlier than Katana, which is pretty mediocre until level 26.

So for pure "survivability" Katana is superior?

Yeah it is.

Which would YOU say is more FUN tho?

To be honest I can't really say. I love the MA animations but nothing is better than killing several minions in one shot with Golden Dragonfly (with damage buffs, of course).

I'd say play both to level 10 and get a feel for them and go with the one you like best. Or roll two!

Katana is BIG fun to play. When you will get your two major attacks, Soaring Dragon and Golden Dragonfly, you will absolutelty love it. Besides, the melee defense from Divine Avalanche stacked with you SR melee defense will boost your survivability.

I'll try both I think, Katana's only "flaw" for me is that slicing and dicing doesn't feel very heroic lol But I'll give both a go. Had a lvl 18 MA/SR years ago so I have a faint idea of how it plays

Having played both sets to the 20s with various secondaries (as well as Stalker versions) I'd take Katana over MA any day. Having just picked up Soaring Dragon, I giggled for a good 30 minutes during the Moonfire TF - it's just so cool!

Slightly OFT.

Is DM/SR a good combo?

I don't find Soaring Dragon that great...Golden Dragonfly is another thing altogether though.

The -acc is useful, but I think MA and Kat are more fun.

DM/SR is ToTM especially in the US. With some carefully thoughtout slotting the acc debuff from DM works very well with def based sets.

ToTM? That's a new one...

Well tbh I know it says MA or Katana - But I'd go for BS/SR..

Mainly because the Damage is stronger than katana, but has the same survivability imo - Its version of DA - Parry.

I have a kat/sr scrapper and its great when you pop a few reds, you can deal some great damage and fast too..
Which is where BS isn't as good, the rech is pretty bad tbh - its more burst dam.

MA has nice stuns though..
:P

Guys, you're all avoided the plainly obvious answer to his question. Broadsword!
