More Grav/FF build stuff

Ok so as some already know my first character was a Grav/FF troller. Perhaps not the best choice for someone new to the game but I managed to stick it out for quite some time. Got to my 40's and started bumping my head, my build is useless for solo play and not many teams looking for a Grav (well a month or so back at least). So I created a Kin defender and that was great fun indeed, my first 50 and still a brilliant character.

However I can't let my poor troller just hang in the air any more. So I've sat and read through some posts and decided I'll give it another go. So following is a new build I created but would appreciate any and all critique Also if you know of any good IO sets that work well, please shout.

The build looks fine to me but I'd change a few things. I think you're way too worried about your survivability. Frozen Armor, Dispersion Bubble, PFF and Hibernate should keep you alive easily. There's no need to go for Aid Self imo.

I'd swap a hold for a recharge on Gravity Distortion, take off the EndReds from the Shields and place 2 extra recharges on Hibernate.

As for Wormhole, I would go with 2Acc3Rech1Dishorient or 2/2/2.

Singularity doesn't needs Accuracy at all (for PvE at least). Swap it for another Recharge and use it as a Tank if needed.

Thanks FF, changed the medicine line for possible panic assists.

Looks good. Detention Field is also a good option if you dislike either Force Bubble or Bolt. It might annoy some Scrappers but who cares. It's good to take off some nasty foe (Sapper, Sorcerer, Storm Shaman, ...) out of battle for a while.

Did the respec last night and headed off to the RWZ, landed all hits on +2 enemies (lt's and bosses too) with the only exception being those darn drones that were bubbled (missing the rad powers there). All in all much happier

Just 250k to go to 41 and the epics can start

Oh and I decided to try the Detention field since Force Bubble didn't get much use and have to admit it really is a nice panic button :P

- The damage of Ice Blast is really poor nowadays, so I would probably skip it since you already have Lift, Crush and Propel. If you keep it, consider moving a slot into GDF instead.
- Crushing Field: with SOs, I'd slot 2 Acc 1 EndRdx. Doesn't really need more than that.
- Wormhole: I like having a Range in there. YMMV.
- Sing: once you're high enough, consider getting some Dmg/Mez HOs. Since it uses both Crush and Lift, you get good return from slotting damage.
- Ice Storm: 3 Damage first and as many Rechg as you can (no need for EndRdx).

Hope some of this helps!

Persnally I go with 1 Acc, 3 damage, 2 hold on Singy. He doesn't die that much really and you're FF so he should be well tough.

Crushing Field works well with Damage PROCs since it has a huge AOE and is quick to recharge. Otherwise you don't really need to 6 slot it, take one Immob out and throw it into GDF as a Hold Duration or Recharge.

Your AOE mezzes do really, really well out of IOs, you can max Acc, Recharge & Mez (hold or stun) with them. Its well worthwhile, especially in GDF. Slot with the four Acc/Recharge/Hold set IOs and you're up around 75% apiece with just 4 slots. Finish with a recharge or Acc/Recharge and you're laughing.

2 acc 3 dmg 1 hold I'd say. Singy is cool to help stacking holds quick, but you should be able to stack 2-3 holds before the singy's one vanish with 1 hold duration alone. 2 acc is a main imo, specially with a non def debuffer secondary as /FF is

Oh, and I don't know if you're choosing Ice Mastery because of concept (or 'sounds like fun'), or if you want a defense-based shield. If it's the latter, you might consider Stone which gives you a decent AoE attack (Fissure) and an excellent panic button in Earth's Embrace.

Regarding Singy - So rather 6 slot him with the 1x Acc 3x Dmg 1x Hold? I agree that he doesn't get hit that often with my bubbles on him so I rarely need to recast him when the power is recharged.

Crushing Field - Have I got too much in there? Will Okton's 3 slots be a better idea? Oh and Damage PROCs???

GDF - Carnifax you refer to Acc/Rech/Hold set IOs, how would I go about it? Slot one of each IO type set that gives that specific enhancement?

Epics - I've not really made up my mind yet, I've got the dispersion bubble for some mitigation so not too sure if I really need another shield? I do need a self heal though since I've got nothing other than Inspirations which don't always help when you are out of greens I'd like to get another damage power to add a bit more to the attacks. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Yep, cherry-pick them from the sets since you don't care too much about bonuses. Try and get them at as high a level as you can but even with Paralytic capping out at 30 it may be worthwhile compared to SOs.

Ditto with Wormhole although I fitted a Stun/Range set IO or two in there too as Range is handy, you can be further away from the mobs and in cover when you trigger it.

As for Crushing Field it will take up to 3 Damage Procs from various Immob, Slow and Targetted AOE Damge. I've the three damage procs slotted plus 2 Acc/End set IOs to make it spammable and on teams I spam it in between other attacks. I'm even considering another slot to squeeze a -Recharge PROC in there too.

With Epics Crushing Field & Fireball is still a nice combo and gives you some AOE damage. Don't know how much of the rest of Fire will be of use to you though.

Most bubblers go for Primal Mastery and pick Power Boost so they can give powerboosted shields to their mates.

For PvP you might want to go for Psy Mastery and pick IW, giving you an excellent mez protection paired with dispersion bubble.

I don't know how often you get hit tbh, but I'm guessing Ice Mastery is a fine option. Frozen Armor provides you extra defence and Hibernate is yet another panic button.

Earth Mastery is also nice. Stone Armor gives you extra defence and Earth's Embrace boosts your HP for a while. Fissure isn't that great, imo. I had it on my earthie but ended up going for Primal Mastery.

In short, I think I would stick with Ice Mastery.

I haven't IOed my Grav troller, so I would tend to follow Carni's slotting advice. 3 slots on Crushing Field is enough if you use SOs, but you might get more out of procs and set bonuses if you can move slots there.

Regarding Epics, I also have Primal on my Grav troller (although his secondary is Sonic), but am considering swapping to Psi (for IW + Sonic Dispersion). Ice is good since you get Hibern00b early (I have it on my Ice/Storm) and the defense-based shield works well with /FF. Ice Storm is a great AoE attack but comes rather late at 47. If you really want a heal, then go for Stone, but again, you'll have to wait until you can fully slot EE (just make sure you skip the crappy Hurl Boulder).
