I’ve just hit level 32 and taken Taunt as a power, little worried of what too expect and fear I could be obliterated within seconds even though I’ve got stone skin, crystals and minerals as a defence.

On route I’ve very much struggled to know what enhancements to deploy and have really just planted the standard in each slot, I get loads of enhancements that I either can’t use because of my type or they just won’t slot anywhere. I’ve a stack of cash/influence and not a lot to spend it on.

My question is what enhancements will particularly help my Tank?

Short question taking the long route to get there.

Stone Skin, Crystals and Minerals?

Since you don't mention Rock Armor, it sounds like a Stone Armor build that's intended for perma-Granite...
...but if that's the case then at level 32 you should be definately be taking "Granite Armor"....

Stone Skin is only a tiny resistance boost (10%). Crystals and Minerals are decent Energy and Psionic Defence respectively... so I'm afraid without taking Rock Armor or Granite Armor you will get absolutely hammered by smashing/lethal damage, which the vast majority of enemies in the game use.

Enhancements? Defence and Resistance in Armors. Recharge and Taunt Duration in Taunt. Healing and Recharge in Earth's Embrace (another power you do NOT want to skip) and Healing in Rooted (do NOT skip).

The other thing that will help is RunSpeed IOs in Swift since if you're using Rooted and Granite Armor you'll move very slowly and won't be able to use Sprint or any travel power other than "teleport".

If you post your Build (or even your Secondary melee pool and what pool powers you want to take) then I'm sure someone here could help with the power order/slotting!

Guideline of guides of the uber law of guide:
Stone = lvl32 = Granite. Period

Pick it, slot it, use it, stick to it, enjoy it, love it.

Slotting kinda depends on your preference. My perma-Granite is totaly focused on getting rid of the recharge penalty in Granite (-65%) using setbonus and Luck of the Gambler +recharge. (yup, he's worth around 120m now). The good thing, put 5 slots in Rooted, 5 slots in Earth embrace and 5 slots in health. Each power, put 5 different Doctored Wounds. Gratz, you remain cap regen, cap recharge, very high end-reduction and have a 15% recharge bonus

Other tips Mael already gave, swift TP and haste are good friends with Granite. If you can give your /secondairy, i can pop up a build for you if you want.

Sorry it’s taken a while but I’ve finally managed to put down on paper what powers my Tank has and how many slots are in each power. It’s been a case of wanting to continue playing the game or write everything down so others can help me. I took the advice and have now got Granite Armor.

In full my Tank has ‘Stone Armor’ with 5 slots of Rock Armor, 4 slots of Stone Skin, 6 slots of Mud Pots and 1 slot in Crystal Armor, Minerals and Granite Power.

Secondary Power is ‘Super Strength’ With 1 slot in Jab, 5 in Punch, 6 in Haymaker, 6 in Knockout Blow and 1 in Hand Clap and Taunt.

Inherent – Brawl 2 slots, Power Slide 2 slots, Sprint and Rest 1 slot.

Flight has 6 slots. All full with the 30-35 single feather enhancement, but I feel I’m amongst the slowest of heroes to travel to new locations.

Please be constructive with the criticism when assessing the situation.

If you could also try to avoid abbreviations when giving feed back as I’m not the best with that style of message (sorry). Sinergy gave some very good advice but I’m not sure I understood it all.

If I remember correctly the single feather ones are training enhancements. These provide very little benefit. Fly is the slowest travel power anyway, but with 3 single origins or Invention origin enhancements in there it should be pretty decent.


Do you have single origin enhancements ( known as SOs )? If so and you know that more than 3 single origins provides no benefit then ignore the rest of my post.

Single Origins generally have a single graphic around the whole enhancement. This looks like

Mutant, pink organic thingy.
Science, blue electricity in the top left and right
Tech, gray gear teeth around the whole thing.
Magic, brown thing.
Natural, Green panels in top left and right

For examples of these see here although the are names differently to normal SOs.

Double Origins have a border that is a combination of 2 of the borders from a single origin.

I'm going to stop now, just in case I'm on the wrong track.

Okay here is a reminder for who wants to help Marvel Avenger. He has daltonizm (color-blind).

I don't have so much knowledge about tankers and sloting of powers but here is two tips from me.

First: Don't spend 6 Slots on Fly. 3 Single Origins is enough to reach its cap if i recall correctly.

Second: Instead of trying to buy Single or Dual origins, if you have influence buy Invention Origin recipes and slot your powers with them. With lvl 30 (as you are lvl 32 you can also use lvl 35 ones) Invention Origin enchanements you can get good results with traditional slotting. I heard from many people that IOs are expensive. But in my opinion, one will cost you 100.000 influence for lvl 30 IOs, which is more cheap than changing it with Single Origins every 3 level. And one more plus side for you Mr. Avenger they carry same symbols as Training origins you use. Only have hexagon border.

(Last one personal note: If you are short on Influence contact me in game and i can give you some recipes and rare salvages i don't use so you can earn some nice influence from them and slot your hero accordingly. Also i can spend sometime with you for helping you gathering salvages or recipes needed for them)

Ooooh.. this looks ouchy.

-Brawl, drop the slot. Power is fun, helps gauntlet bitty but that’s it.
-Powerslide, drop the slot. It’s a sprint power, nice but not worth a slot.
-Stone skin, drop 1 slot. 3 is enough, 3 SO resist hits ED.
-Rock armor, asume you have 2end-red / 3 defence.
-Mudpots, with 6, 2acc/2endred/2taunt would be best. Using IO’s can drop few slots
-Crystal armor, if you plan to use it more, go for a 1-2endred/3defence
-Minerals armor, this can come in handy at higher lvl ingame, one of the few Psionic defence toggles. Again, if you use it, go 1-2endred/3defence. Overall you wont be needing this power a lot, but as always ‘learn your mobs and their damage’.

1 I miss, Rooted. It gives a high mez-resist, great regen and prevent repel,knockback,knockdown, and knockup. It is a great power, but has a very very high –slow penalty, making you walk very slow.

Jab is good, lousy dmg, 1 acc is enough
Haymaker, asume 1acc/3dmg/1rech/1endred
Knockoutblow, see Haymaker
Handclap, I say, drop this or drop once you get footstomp. Handclap is a nice aoe stun, but has bad accuracy, high end usage and does knockback, wich is bad for a tanker
Taunt, once you play more in granite, add 1 or 2 slots, going for 1taunt/2recharge
After lvling up i suggest to slot Granite first, going 6 slots. 3resist/2def and 1 end-red for me was a nice setup.


First a few informative things about Stone/SS.

Fly is 1 of the slowest travel powers ingame. This compensate by full manouverability, in all possible ways. (SS bounded to running, SJ goes up, but has to come down, TP is nonstop clicky and can be somewhat annoying). A while ago Devs added something new, called Enhancement Diver.. something, shortterms ED. Basicly this means that after a certain % of enhancements the %-buff will drop massive. Easy said powers (except a few, but we drop them for a sec) are devided in 2 classes. The 5/10/20% (as defence, resist) and 8/16/33% (damage acc). ED makes sure that after 60ish% in first class, 90ish% in 2nd class, your next SO of that kind will hardly boost the % anymore, at most 1-2%. It forces you to combine things more, think about slotting.

First of all, Stone is somewhat unique among the other tankers. The power Granite is defence/resist-wise 1 of the strongest powers ingame. It is a toggle unlike powers like unstoppable, Moment of Glory, Elude, Hibernate.. but it comes with great penalties.

Inside Granite you turn into a big pile of stones, unable to use any other armor of the stone set. And tbh, you wouldn’t need those anyway. Why is the power so awsome? Well it provide a great defence to all type except Psionic and a massive resist to all types except Psionic. Fully slotted there are very very few mobs that can serious dent your tanker.
The penalties however are to think about. First you get a great –slow penalty, second is a –recharge penalty (equal to about 2 SO recharge) and you have NO ability to jump. Important, activating a travel power (sprint, SS, SJ, fly etc) will drop Granite, this you should remember when fighting mobs.

You can combine a Granite and rock/crystal/mineral/rooted build, abit more versatile but you might get in trouble with slots and powers.

I do suggest taking Fitness pool (swift,health,stamina) and slottnig swift with 3 SO sprint to compensate the –slow in Rooted and Granite. (running both still makes you slow as a cripple turtle, but it helps abit). Second of that, TP will come in handy once you use granite more, specialy if u hve to move up places where you cannot jump in granite.

I have to agree that it's better to use IO instead of SO enhancements. You may find some of them to be built from others already and be available at the market for you to buy at nice prices.

Also happy birthday for yesterday.

i agree with what sinergy has to say there

on a personal note though, i'd take rage instead of handclap. if you're planning on using granite a lot, rage is useful. it gives you a good accuracy buff, allowing you to focus your attack slotting more on recharge and damage. and it gives you a damage buff itself too.

First of all thanks for all the advice and links, great stuff and some of it has already been put into practise. Also thanks for the birthday best wishes. I’m guessing the MB displays each member’s birthday on that day.

Anyway I have another question for those in the know, I’m sure if I searched long and hard enough I’d find the info on the links provided but I don’t get enough time to play the game as it is.

I have a free thingy-whats-it where I can change my powers. Will I keep my enhancements once this is done or will they all appear blank ready for me to fill up again?

Respec you mean
After picking powers&slots you will get to screen where all enhancements are played in a huge tray and all your powers are empty. From there you can put them back, or in your inventory (max 10) or leave them there and click next, it will ask you if you wanna sell those and state the ammount of inf you get.

Quickly checked it, seems about right on the accepted enhancements. Most slotting is pretty straight forward though.

Offcourse you can also slot set IO's, you can use 'effect' for wich category of sets you can use. But i prefer staying SO's and normal IO's untill higher lvl, as some recipes & sets can be very very expensive.
