I've been trying to get into CoH/CoV on and off the last 3 years. Rarely making it past the mid twenties before I reroll to a different type of character and then eventually quit out of boredom from playing the same lowbie content over and over on my own. This time I've been away from the game for about a year and decided to give it another shot. I played a stalker to lvl 19, and rerolled a MM the other day. To my surprise I've made it to 26 and for some reason I do not feel compelled to reroll.

This is good news, but also a problem since I now have to figure out a good build, both for pve and pvp. (Mostly grouping with one or two other MMs atm, but also viable for solo play.)

I have no experience with CoH past lvl 26. I have no idea which powers "stack" with each other and which dont. I have no idea how many slots I need in the different powers to "max" them out.

I want to emphasize the defensive nature of the FF set as much as possible. I have considered taking Leadership or Concealment instead of Medicine because of this. I'm also extremely confused as to which travel power to take. Fly seems convenient, but from reading the boards I get the impression its not effective in pvp? If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate that as well..

This is what I've come up with:

As for the 41+ powers I was leaning towards the "mace" stuff but input on these would be nice as well, not to mention a link to a builder that includes them.

Thanks for taking the time, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Any mature guilds recruiting are also welcome to drop me a note, I'm on the Defiant server.

More than 3 slots of any enhancement in any given power gives a seriously severe reduced return in comparison to the first 3, so much so its practically never ever worth slotting more than 3 slots of anything so that means 7 of your slots can better serve you elsewhere, as for power order or power choices thats entirely down to you and id rather a co-robot/ff talk that part thru with you anyways. The shields are slotted early imo as the the types of enhancements that go in them prior to SO stage make little difference. The equip robot and upgrade robot could do with end slots to have you producing and upgrading all bots within the end bar as best possible.

Well, where you put in PFF should be Aid Other, and you probably want assault in the place of detention field, it speeds things up considerably. I'd also recomend Tactics where you put repulsion field. And just so you know, manuevers is something like 3% defence slotted, for MMs, which stacks, but, you know. It isn't that great.

Consider getting the MM set Blood Mandate (May need verification) with enough of them, you get an aura in your supremacy range that gives 10% defence.

But, welcoem to the world of Bots/FF. You'll be soloing AV's in no time

Welcome to the fun and carnage that is Robotics. My little piece of advice just for the record...

I'm not going to harp on about the advantages of IO's and SO's and stuff since it's all too new and I am still in sell-sell-sell mode, but have a little look into the various bonuses in the guides section, I am sure there's a list here or on the US boards.

I have a 42 Bot 'n' Bubbs MM and you chose well for a fun set to play with. My advice with the primary set you seem to have followed already more or less. Personally, I like to have Repair in there as a nice but slow recharging heal. When your Assault Bot is way down low on HP, you'll appreciate it tremendously. To supliment that, try to work Aid Other into your build earlier for a smaller but fast recharging heal that keeps the bots working all the harder for you.

Next is the Assault-Tactics-Manouvers thing. The Leadership Pool. I have respecced into and out of all of these at one point or another, kind of. I like to have all three and would recommend them to any mastermind out there.

I would suggest dropping Detention Field and Repulsion Field. Detention you don't need often enough to justify it and Repulsion Field is an aggro attractor. Why encourage the bad guys to shoot you instead of the Bots?

Similarly, I personally don't like Force Bubble. I found it difficult to keep control of any fight with it turned on, so my own preference was to drop it. Others like it a lot, so I would suggest saving a respec for after you've had chance to try it out.

finally, read about ED, Enhancement Diversification. You may have missed it if you've been in and out of the game. Basically, diminishing returns on enhancements mean that the 4th enhancement has such a small effect now that it isn't worth slotting it. The exception is some but not all Invention Origin enhancements that have multiple enhancements and set bonuses built in. Again, have a read about them.

The most important thing to do with any build is get used to what your character is capable of, experiment with a few powers and drop the ones you don't like or feel could be better used elsewhere. It is seldom you ever get a character 100% perfect unless you're an Ice Blaster, but thats another story, and not one for the Mastermind boards

Hi this is what I'm doing at the moment, can't remember exact slotting order, and have some sets in place now, but this is just the basic without any special IO slotting. And Group fly at the end is just for fun

You'll get more survivability out of Aid Other than you will from Maneuvers or Grant Invisibility.

Grant Invis especially, while it does have its uses the duration is so short you will be forever rebuffing your minions.
And you will get enough of that with the bubbles.

yeh i would agree with Battler more than bateman.. with robots you dont really need insulation field.... in other words MM= Protect Num.1 The Special thing about robots, is that they can take bombardment from bombardment if you keep the defence strong. I always keep my pets on Defence and tell them to attack my target with out switching from aggr to passive and etc. Plus with the defence special (Damage Shared between pets evenly) Any Fire or Cold effect dmg is no problem. An mm needs at least one or two attacks. at the Moment With My MM I have rifle burst and rifle (something I forgot) After a while with mms you get fed up of watching your pets doing everything, you might as well tell them to search and destroy while you go get a coffee and do the dishes. I admit bateman's build is gr8 for team work all the way, but sometimes when you want to just solo a few missions on your own you would need to get stuck in busy with it : ) only mistake i made with my build was to have detention field... ill never forget that mistake! Never!
