Thoughts of a new stone stone brute

I have never had a brute or tank before. My concept is highest damage per hit and highest defense possible.
I am also relatively inexperienced playing and character building.

Hearing from others that have built Stone stone brutes would be great. Please tell what you liked and didnt like about your build, and which powers are skippable and ones which are must have. PLease, only people with stone stone brutes plz ok?

So far, Im lvl 23 and loving it. TP friend and TP self are my travel powers. I also had to wait on a few powers to get stamina. This brute/ stone primary sucks the blue down crazy. Slotting for three end reduction then accuracy has helped quite a bit to make the first 20 lvls doable without running out of gas so hard and so often.

With my katana /regen scrapp, I use pretty much most of my attack chain all the time, it does depend on the tactical situation, but it is used, even brawl(when enemy is standing up).
Is the same situation going to be true with my brute? I do have the first three attacks, and really dont want taunt or build up. Fury does great on its own for me, and if I want aggro I can hit em a few times. Build up requires a few slots to be effective, Id rather get the health pool stimulant and aid self.

Stone tanks, do you use tough and/or weave? Acrobatics?
Why did you get granite armor or not get granite armor?
Do you prefer to be a troller/tank/brute with mudpots and granite or would you rather move quickly just smashing with a full attack chain?

I would love your awnsers
I guess people who have played just stone primary or just stone secondary could also awnser.

Thanks

Your

Do you want pve or pvp ?
For pvp :
- you can skip fault and tremor, because most of players have protections against knockback, or they fly.
- TP foe is much more useful than tp friend to get the little rabbits afraid by a brute.
- if you take tp foe, you won't really need Hurl Boulder
- taunt could be useful to help friends, but it's one power, so... (I haven't)
- build up is very useful against precision buffs/debuffs
- all the other power of your primary set are worth being choosed
- I advise you to take some patron powers to complete your attack chain, which won't be very fast with granite
- mud pots eats a LOT of endurance, I skipped it too
- all the armors are useful, particularly granite... Granite + rooted is your only chance against controllers, dominators, and the stun of energy melee.
- tough is also almost necessary when granite is not activated
- the defense bonus of weave is ridiculous, it's a waste of power
- with rooted, acrobatics has no utility
- take hasten (because of granite)

For pve : all the powers of your two sets will be useful (except maybe taunt). Knockback is great in pve (as it's poor in pvp)... And you can skip tp and tp foe. Mobs flee rarely

Dont bother with pvp every one will just run away from you.

Ok. Now someone tell Private Dancer the answer for Player versus enemies...
(I have a Stone/Inv Brute but you're already twice my level. I LOVE Fault but mostly because it looks so freaking bad [censored]...and I've seen you play this character, Mr. Dancer. You're a MONSTER. Already.)

PvP never will work, they will all run unless im double teamed..
Hey, the MasterMind Challenge guy! Kaj (MM) is surviving out there?
In Nerva, on the Isle where the Mayhem contact is, I can take out +3 wardens solo, and two +2 wardens or Sting Agents/Officer combo's.

Yeah, I have gotten the hammer pretty rich just soloing +3 and +2 bosses and selling. Its like being on a medium team honestlty, the XP is, but the Inspirations and Enhancements are way better for the effort put in. I have not had a build with the staying power and sheer resistance of this one.

Because of this ( killing ten +2 or +3 bosses = lotsa $ and 9 or 10 enhancements, I have been able to stay pretty well slotted with SO's also. Like fury it sort of feeds itself :P

I like TP because of Rooted so far, and the ability to "drop in" and get off 2 or 3 attacks against a solo boss. I would like to try an EB solo. Did the Sea Witch as a lacky with another brute just as a duo, so I wonder how I would do solo...Pop three purples and a breaky, repeat as they blink off. FTW!

It's going very rough. So much so I had to take a week-long break from him so I could remember what the game was like when all fights weren't desperate uphill battles. When Kaijukore gets to level 26 I'm going to be a very happy man.

Oh and in case you didn't notice my comment in the MM thread: Thanks for the infamy. A fully enhanced mastermind has made the whole challenge that much easier. Still crazy hard, but not as much as if I was poor.

Which server are you on PD, as if your on Defiant best thing to do is actually show you a stone/stone brute so you can see what powers they pick and why, might be better to answer your questions in real time then.

Find me @Battler, usually on most evenings after 9pm.

I have been looking at the Stone/Stobe brute AT, and tho i dont have much experience in CoX, i find that Stone taps a lot of End. I made a Stone/Fire brute(my only toon) and after what i can see, the /fire supports it in the way of beeing able to suck end out of apponents, plus you can heal yourself. Later on you get a cool resurection skill too (bonusx3)

I did consider a stone/fire or a stone/dark because of the kewl stuff they do later on. I have NO regrets playing stone/stone. I just had to slot for endo reduc and not damage. I was lvl 29 last night, in a team with a lvl 32 brute. He died a few times where I kept smashing. Its really quited saucy, to take out a +3 or even two + 3 bosses at once, with only a blue or two popped to show for it.

Teaming with a kinetic has been a dream. Able to basically at least DOUBLE my damage output. Just really amazing.

Yes, warning to all, stone will suck the blue down, unless carefully played and slotted ( i.e. use the least endo attack to kill em when u can, three slotts for endo, dont worry about damage).

I have no worries about hopping in a mob of reds or purples, and swinging the hammer. Fun Fun!

Battler, ty for the offer, maybe you can show me against my slapper scrapper in the arena.

Except you wont be able to look at the powers if your a hero, still shout and i'll talk you through it real time.

And it all comes down to your playstyle. I can see that you are in means a suviverable AT. I just feal i need a heal or two with my AT so i dont need to rely on others even tho im more of a Team player. I might be leaning to WoW experience, but at the moment it works fine for me.

As a brute fan I do not slot for damage on my attacks I slot for accuracy, end reduction and recharge (for slow recharging powers) in that order. Fury on a brute will take care of your damage. Endurence is an issue at early levels so I find it more important to actually hit them than hit them hard as each miss sucks endurence.
