We're pleased to announce the launch of the City of Heroes and Villains Refer a Friend program.

This new system allows you, our existing players, to send free trials to your friends - and if any of them decide to subscribe, you'll earn free game time for your account!

For full details, see the Refer a Friend pages on the City of Heroes and City of Villains websites.

Well, friend's account is now retail, and paid month of gametime. How soon i'll get my free month of gametime? Next bill date was still same than before.

Bridger, question for you mate: - I've sent 4 invites out, one of which has got lost in the ether. I've got no way to cancel that nor can my friend join. What happens now? They don't join, you don't get a new player, etc etc. What do we do under those circumstances? There's no clear answer on the NCSoft pages nor is there anyone I can apparently contact

I'd be glad of some feedback, cheers

It should happen as soon as your friend makes their first subscription payment - in other words, after they've used the 30 days included with the full version of the game.

What if it's not with the full retail version, but with a gametime card, does that make any difference?

I don't think so - as far as I know, your account will be credited when the player starts making use of the time from the Game Time Card (ie, after the 30 days included with the game).

You do need to make sure that your friend used their retail serial code to upgrade the trial account started with the 'refer a friend' key, otherwise the system won't recognise that you should get your free time.

If your friend didn't do this, you should contact our Account Support team - they should be able to help.

Not sure what happened to the 'lost' invite, but you should get more invites to send.

If any of the accounts started with the trial codes you sent out get upgraded to a full retail account, you should get a new invite immediately. If none of the trial accounts get upgraded to retail accounts (or if the keys aren't used at all), you should get new invites 30 days after the original ones were sent.

Sorry, everyone, but it appears I was misinformed.

An unused code will be 'replaced' two months after it was sent, not 30 days later.

Also, in order for you to get the free month credit, the person you send the code to must use it and upgrade it to a full retail account within a month of it being sent.

I'll make sure the 'Refer a Friend' page on the websites gets updated with this information.

Actually, you'll need to wait two months (see my correction above).

If you don't want to wait that long you could contact our Account Support team. Make sure you provide your game account details, the email of the friend you tried to refer, and the date you did it. They tell me they should be able to help.
