hi, i'm looking to create a brute that has brilliant solo ability as so far on cov its impossible to get a team but im not complaining just means less lag but i also want a brute that will be good in pvp (paticularly 1v1 duels), lol im guessing its going to be quite hard as from what ive herd the brutes that rule in solo pve are aoe based brutes using alot of dmg auras from there secondary but this would not be good for pvp, but anyway i do not want stone armour for definite and im definately leaning towards super strength as my primary, i just want a secondary that will serve me well in pvp and i can still level at a decent rate while soloing, help please!!!!

In my opinion energy management is very important, so that you can keep up fury as long as possible which makes for some impressive levelling speed. I found out my elec/elec and my dark/dark both fit the bill and they are not sucky in PvP either although they are both more geared towards PvE.
If you insist on SS primary you should really pick a secondary with an end drain (EA or ELA) or you might be in need of blue candy a lot (although this is somewhat less of an issue if you have /invuln post lvl38 due to UnstoppableĀ“s +recovery).

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

/fire also keeps itself in end with consume, I didn't realise how end easy /fire was until I played it

"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"

You can't go wrong with SS/Elec. It's realy fun running perma-rage and draining your opponents. I could solo Mayhems on the 4h level of difficulty (but not on thr 5th, since it spawns a Hero).

/Fire is really good too IMO. At least for my play-style. You can revover end, heal yourself, etc.

ok....... ive decided on a ss/elec brute which i am enjoying at the moment at level 10 i would like to know what pool powers would be required for a pvp elec brute? is tough worth taking or is aid self an option?

Posted

For 1 vs 1 pvp, aid self is NOT an option
Tough is useful but not necessary, I think.

Aid Self is the best option!!!

Your opponent will miss eventually and you'l be able to activate it. Or just run. With 3 Intredxs it is way better than though, which hepls only against smahs/lethal.

I took Air Superiority and Fly. Great attack and a vertical travel power. Hasten and Super Speed will help you too.

All I can say is this (in response to an offhanded comment):

Am I the only one who doesn't have problems finding a team in CoV? Why do folks who have both CoV and CoH keep spreading this base slander?

"who doesn't have CoH so he doesn't know if CoH is insanely different from CoV"

Actually, I have more problems finding a team in CoH than in CoV. Mainly because I know a lot of people on the villain side, but even when they are offline, it's quite easy to find a team of 3-4 players.

Now, when I started paying CoH, oh boy...

- "Hi! I'm a bubble Defender. Can I join?", "Sorry, we need a Scrapper"
- "Hi, I'm level 18, can I join?", "Sorry, you are one level below us"

I know the lines above are exceptions, but I never saw something like that on CoV. Heroes are very selective, and if you don't know other players, you'll have a hard time. Unless you create a Kin Defender lol Now I am asked to join teams.

Keep in mind I started paying Villains.

I have NEVER prevented anyone from joining a team I'm running, unless they are wildly out of our level range and even with SK/LK will be next to useless. The way I see it, the more people ina team, the better it is for everyone. Sure you need damage sometimes, but I've been in teams with nothing but defenders and controllers, and we steamrollered most mobs!

Not these days it isn't. CoH is very team happy.
