Look no further than here if you do not like Ice.
Ice has more control over Fire to reduce incoming damage with a /kin but will only make a real difference when solo. Fire will be the aoe damage king though for sure.
Try a Fire/Rad, im lvl 12 and kicking [censored], solo'd a lvl 16 a min ago

pick whatever you like to go with kin,you already made the best choice by picking kin in the 1st place
Ice/Kin is great (got one of those at 50), as is Fire/Kin, Sonic/Kin (AoE sleep +Fulcrum shift), Fire/Rad, Fire/Dark etc.

As you know I've a 50 Ice/Kin and it rocks. As regards to the energy suggested well, if you wanna hit mobs all over the place and annoy the brutes go ahead, but as you know with your brute it is very annoying. I've made a fire/kin and that does awesome aoe damage. As regards to the number 1 kin....THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE !! lol
I can´t believe nobody has mentioned sonic/kin yet. Yes, it´s loud. Yes, it´s annoying. But, heck, it´s so damn effective.
It´s quite good in PvE, although not as good as fire/kin (teamed a lot with one), it´s excellent in PvP ("Did the tank even have shields?") and it´s an AV-killer deluxe.
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
I'll second the Sonic suggestion. It's secondary effect is subtle...unless you actually care about damage. I'm a huge fan of energy because it's great having crowd control built into every damn power you have, but Sonic is, as the above post implies, the shield-eater. Really. It's splendid.
