6.0! Yes, a whole 6 points!

Thanks to Despare, if he's reading this, for being the only other player in RV. Duelling a Spine Stalker against a kat/regen Scrapper with a Heavy on each side was interesting. Sorry I had to leave, but I think we were at a bit of a stalemate anyway.

Got my heart beating a bit wondering where he was. Who says computer games aren't good aerobic exercise?

[/ QUOTE ]

Aerobic exercise includes any type of exercise, typically those performed at moderate levels of intensity for extended periods of time, that maintains an increased heart rate. Computer Games aren't good at this, except maybe games played on Wii or ones such as Dance Dance Revolution .

What you had was a burst of adrenalin. Adrenalin is a "fight or flight" hormone which is released from the adrenal glands whenever danger threatens. When secreted it floods out the endocrine gland into the bloodstream to instantly prepare the body for action in emergency situations. The hormone boosts the supply of oxygen and energy-giving glucose to the muscles making the individual more mentally alert and physically strong; only vital bodily processes occur. Adrenalin plays a central role in the short-term stress reaction—the physiological response to threatening, exciting, or environmental stressor conditions such as high noise levels or bright light.

Feel free to come back for more.

I didnt understand the attraction to the beach either. Maybe there's a "build sand castle" temp power I dont know about.

I tend to do everything I realistically can to move the fight from there where possible. It's pretty nigh on suicide to take a Defender (or even two) in the middle of a reasonable sized beach fight. Aside from the gaggle of Brutes and Stalkers, you can pretty much guarantee that if you get involved in a villain fight some cheeky little scrapper will dive off the boat, bash you round the back of the head, steal your bucket and spade, knock your ice cream in the sand, and be back on the boat again before you or anyone else can do much about it.

I certainly do understand the attraction of it for certain character types though.

(Glad you enjoyed yourself Ravenswing).

PvP does happen in other parts of Warburg, the beach is just the largest open space on the whole map (thats not on top of a building). I've seen fights and been chased through the rest of the map. Its good when one team tries to stop another get the warburg rockets too. Most people don't go for the nukes when actively PvPing though.

Ahah, so they keep running back to the ship for extra spades and buckets - that explains it.

And it just happens to be right next to the hero safety zone by happy coincidence? The centre of Warburg is easily as PvPable as Nub Beach - I find that WB just gets really tiresome after a while, with just about everyone either running back to the ship or hiding in the helicopter, or inadvertently dipping into the safe zone whilst chasing one of the former. I've been in there countless times when Scrappers (and some Inv Tanks) alike have refused to come out and play until their Tier 9 has recharged; it also sets the stage very nicely for kamikaze Blasters to come out and urinate all over any decent PvP that might actually be taking place.

And those are exactly the reasons why I love the beach. Running away is a viable tactic!

And well done, Raven .

Movement is central to PvP, and I have no qualms with running away at all. Running into a safe zone packed with PvE mobs and Drones is just immensely cheap, especially when it 'coincides' with your tier 9 dropping.

At least you're not under the delusion that PvPers are worth anything .

Seriously, though, Warburg seems to be the worst zone for base hogging - as everything out of that area is dangerous as hell (and the amount of times I've been AS'd on the boat is silly*). Sometimes it's fun to tease the other heroes by running in and out of the safe zone - especially when they finally get fed up, move on, and you can stab them in the back.

* A silly amount of times**, not a silly feature/tactic/anything else that someone will misinterpret.

** As in, a large number.

I know, it was merely a (light hearted, amazingly, on this forum) observation that certain character types will always gravitate towards the beach and I understand the reasons why.

I thought the reason people use beach is because there are no PvE mobs there.. Or at least less than in other parts of WB.. It is also easy to find if youre matchmaking via broadcast.. No comment on the runners though..

ps. You do know of course that the base is only a safe zone to those of the same side.. a villain can come right at the hero boat and kill you..

You always get a steady stream of Rogue Fortunatas and Tarantula Queens/TTs patrolling the buildings in that area, not to mention the routine Webmaster + 2 Hercules patrol. Mobs are pretty easily avoidable in the centre, as you mostly get minions and the odd Lt.

Of course I know that - but if you know of any power that will allow a villain safe passage past an array of Police Drones, you just shout out and let me know. I've frequently picked up kills from nailing heroes hiding around the back of the boat, but it usually ends up being at the cost of a run back from hospital (cause of death: Longbow). It doesn't help matters when you're a hero fighting other heroes (which is why I rarely take my hero characters out in WB these days).

I usually jump in with BU on my brute and kill the target thats on the boat, usually kills them right before it kills me
Though it only works on squishies.

I like standing on the boat as my sonic defender and watching brutes try to hit me but then realising i'm not that squishy :P

Early on in the life of Warburg, I got AS'd by some bloke while standing on the deck of the boat. Of course, he got instantly wasted by the police drones, but he did get in there. I guess he got debt and I didn't, which would appear to make it a bit of a dubious victory, but it's clearly possible.

The lack of actual safety in the various safety zones was, afterall, why there was the campaign to move the introduction contact out of the actual PvP zone for those with a congenital dislike of PvP.

By the way, I wasn't after congratulations, just a cheap laugh. I am somewhat noted for being 'anti-PvP', even though that isn't actually my stance. I thought it'd be amusing to discover I'd been in there and fighting.

And Despare saved me from horrible debt! If he hadn't shown up then, I'd have got bored again and gone off to smack another pillbox. I think that would have set the AVs on me which would probably have been terminal.

PS. To be honest, I think the Heavy got Despare the first time. After that, he tried to avoid getting in range, and Crow can't fly. He was only in major danger when I caught him on the ground and almost trapped in in a knockback cycle. Hence me thinking we had a stalemate. His ranged attacks were too weak to do much damage, and with him in the air, I couldn't do much to him.

You havent received debt from being droned for a long time. It was changed wayy back.

ps. If you want to bypass drones its possible as long as theres a blind spot.. Tp works best.

Yeah, this was within the first couple of weeks of the PvP zones going live, not recently. I haven't been in Warburg in ages...

I tell a lie, I was in there at the weekend, very briefly. When I get the introductory missions to the PvP zones, I usually pop in, and I got one at the weekend. When he's closer to 38 I might take him for a spin (though I figure this last weekend is the first time he's gained xp in a year).
