Ok, what I'm trying to say is I'm happy to keep moving the plot in a sotryteller/GM role. I've had discussions with some of you and we've finally come up with a really good story-arc.
If people want to PM me what investigations they're making in downtime I'm feed them info, as well as driving things in game.
Hope that's ok.

That sounds cool, Romanov! I'll think about doing that...

Cool,

Also, I like Chove's journal entry on the IC thread very much; lots of potential for rp and plot development.

Message sent by text to Hyperion Watchmen from Bastinado:

Watchmen,

In two days we face what could be our greatest challenge. Our investigations into the mutant gang known as the Outcast have inevitably lead us to their leader - a habitual offender known as Frostfire.
Our theory that fellow victims of the Rivera incident may have found sanctuary with the Outcasts has yet to be proved - but a thorough interrogation of Frostfire may yield the answers we seek.
I ask all Watchmen to prepare themselves for this encounter - train whenever possible and step up your routine patrols.

Bastinado

((In other words please try and get up to level 10 minimum, level 11 maximum, for Wednesday's session))

Hi all. Looking forward to some serious Outcast pounding tonight - hope to see you all there!
I think I've finally sorted a hosting for my pics of my proposed uniform, but can't do it from work, so I'll put a link on here this evening. Hopefully you'll like it! I've stuck with the themes discussed previously - a "faceless/anonymous" look, and the ampules belt. I've also tried to incorporate the star theme into it too, whilst keeping it simple. I tried to avoid the slightly clichéd "bot" look and have gone for a more sleek tights (but more spidey movies than 60's batman tv!) look!

Right - here goes nothing!! (And now for something completely different!)

I like that muchly and it would get my vote. One thing I would say is I'm not sure the bonehead mask fits with the ethos of the SG. There's not really many full mask options, so maybe each person could choose their own head options?
Are people wanting to change the SG colours to maroon/gold? It certainly would suit my character better so I'd be happy to go with it.

Just editing this to add some tweaks. I've put Bast in the outifit to show how our own head designs could keep character identity. I've also replaced the sleek option for plain tights so there is no harring with boots, gloves and masks. And, remember someone suggested having our own colours on the suits like the X-Men's piping. I've coloured the ampules and centre of the chest star in Bast's colour of black.

Ooh suit you, Bastinado!

Wow - bast looks good in that!! I used full tights for hands and feet so that it blended. If the main suit is this colour there would be no need to change the SG alternate colours. Glad you liked it, just need to find a good mask!

guys, unfortunatley, I'm gonna have to stand down. I can't keep up with all of it, with all the work I'm getting. have fun! good luck with everything too.

Oh, and for IC reasons, let's say that the Vahz got him, his gloves were removed and he blew up. all his research is left in the base, it just says how

1. the incident affects DNA after death
2. that the new features are attaching themselves to vital DNA, so, removing it directly could cause serious effects
3. some of the victims were affected mentally, so their minds became corrupt.
4. that an emblem was found on a shard of the device used to kill Hyperion Star, and he has reason to believe it was either the malta group, the council, arachnos or sky raiders

I'm really sorry to hear that
Is there anything we can do to make it easier for you - change the day we meet etc?
If you really have to go, maybe we could keep Johnny as an NPC. That way we have someone to do the science stuff while giving you the opportunity to return in the future.

unfortunatley, I can't return. I'ver entered the tough part of year 12 at school and there are so many things going on. You can keep Johnny as an NPC, but I seriously doubt that I'll be able to return any time soon. I'm sorry to leave, becuase it's been really good fun, but I got a drama exam soon and lots of english and media course wourk to finish off by next week.

it's been a blast, bye guys!

I thought it would be good to create a roleplaying "bible". Long-running television shows have these, it's a series of facts, histories and events that should not be contradicted by future stories. With the nature of our story, obviously nothing will ever be indisputable or concrete fact, but I thought it would be good to have some facts and figures so we don't start contradicting each other. I'll divide it into "Rivera Incident" and "Watchmen Investigations" I'll repost this periodically with new things we have found. Please post any "facts" in this thread and I'll add them or repost the whole "bible" yourself. Ta.

HYPERION WATCHMEN BIBLE

[u]Rivera Incident[u]

* Hyperion Star died at the Rivera Medical Centre in the "Outbreak" district of Paragon City.

* The incident happened at about 10pm on February 14 (Valentine's Day).

* The Emergency Room and other parts of the centre suffered severe damage. Many parts of the hospital were reduced to rubble. Witnesses described the building shaking and many spoke of a flash of light.

* 17 people died in the incident. 44 people survived the blast (the actual figure is 45 as Bastinado has removed records of him being there). 19 of these sustained injuries of varying degrees.

* Survivors known to have exhibited powers:

Daniel Asche, stone armour, deceased
Shannon Moon, ice armour, deceased
Jackson Whyte, fire blast, deceased
Rex Balantine, radiation blast, deceased
Jorge Gorman, elec/elec, the Safehouse
Megan Forster, telepathy, the Safehouse
Stanley Splitkin, regen/flight, the Safehouse
Arthur Penningworth-Smythe/Moonfrost, fire melee, wherabouts unknown
Johnny Ember/Street Flames, fire/fire, wherabouts unknown
Marina "Burnie" DeSousa/High Burn, rad/rad, Hyperion Watchmen
Bastinado, super reflexes, Hyperion Watchmen
Solar Flare, fire/fire, Hyperion Watchmen
Suzi White/White Vampyr, kin/dark, Hyperion Watchmen
James Carter/No Known Codename, sonic/sonic, Hyperion Watchmen
Psyte, mind control, Hyperion Watchmen

* A Paragon Police Department investigation was launched but was never completed. The Medical Centre and Fire Department investigations found that the explosion was the result of a gas leak.

* Although several people saw Hyperion Star on the day, nobody has been able to give a detailed description of his appearance. (More info to come on this when Suzi has completed her research).

* Tests by Johnny Ember suggest the incident has altered the DNA of survivors. These changes apparantly continue after death.

[u]Watchmen Investigations[u]

I'll do this section after this week's session.

I am going to post a journal entry (it will actually read like a story but I think all IC stuff should go in the journal thread now) that will hopefully move things along and be fun to read. If nobody objects I will take on responsibility for Johnny's fate and handle it in this story.

Finally, I was thinking about the SG ranks. Originally James and Bast were voted SG leaders and I was keen than everyone else was a captain as I wanted it to be a shared group. With certain promotions and demotions played out in character, some of the ranks don't sit right. With Psyte's behaviour in the group, I can't imagine that he would be a captain. I suggest that Bast and James stay as Commanders (Bast leading in the field), Solar Flare becomes a Lieutenant (Once he proves he can be a team player in battle he will become a Captain, leading missions when Bast is absent), High Burn will stay as a Lieutenant in recognition of her progress and committment to the group, Psyte and White Vampyr will be Elite Watchmen as they are yet to fully commit to the group but have proved themselves in the field (promotion to Lieu would happen when it feels right in rp terms), and Anhialattor will remain a Watchman.
These are purely rp ranks, all major decisions will be made OOC or here on the forum.
Is that acceptable?

Sits okay with me. When I dreamt Psyte up, I didn't realise how much of a b'tard he was going to be so agree he shouldn't be ranked very high. RP-wise I'm quite happy with the way he's turning out though even though it is a surprise!

Sounds great to me too - I envisage SF as being a bit self-distructive/lonerish due to the nature of his powers but I'm sure that working with the team, over time, will soften his attitude and open his eyes to the value of being a team player.
I like the idea of "the bible" too - an essential tool as the story expands and starts to take on a life of its own. Are we aiming for a particular level/achievement tomorrow? Hopefully we could make it up to lvl 20 in the next couple of meets? I can (personally, particularly for SF) see the whole team uniform thing being a really good plot tool for helping the team "gel" together - give us a focus/sense of self-worth and purpose.

Firstly I wanna say sorry for skipping the last two weeks. The computer I had been using died on me two weeks ago, so thats why I haven't been on. Plus I've been playing FFXII, GTA Vice city stories and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja. But we wont mention that

The problem should be fix'd from friday night onwords as I'm going back up north to pic up some things, including my PC

Tonight was really good, had loads of fun, me and Rom were talking and due to new people in the team and trust issues (plot-wize) I'm going to do a background check on you all (I have the money and resorses).

So any background infomation you think you have miss out for your toon, post here or in the other thread before next wednesday if thats ok? thanks

On a side note, I notice James is listed as sonic/sonic....He's sonic/fire, just to clear that up. I guess I should get some more attacks from my secondary huh?

Finally, I will try to be on thi weekend, but as I'm not sure what my plans will be I'll have to see. Arrange a time and i'll see if I can make it.

Hi gang. Apologies for my brief appearance last night - everything that could have gone wrong did! Hopefully I can get on this weekend, but will depend on how well my recording session goes on Saturday.
I'll be looking to add some IC stuff about Solar this week though either way, which I'm looking forward to - perhaps give you a glimpse of the man under the armour?!

Hey all, great night last night. Would Like to thank Romanov for RPing me in, even if we had a little trouble finding the mission.
I won't be able to make the weekend unless it's sunday night but next week certainly.

I think the background checks idea is good. A man of Mr Carter's resources would have access to a range of sources, he'd be able to find things like date of birth, address, marriage status, credit hisory, education history, criminal record.
If people could post a summary of information he would find for their characters, it might make for some intersting rp especially if people have something to hide.
But Bastinado has removed the records (as best as he is able) from the medical centre, prison and police that would place David Jacob Reuther (his secret identity) there. Carter may find some people of similar sex and age that he may suspect could be Bast.

In other news, we have a new member called White Nightingale joining us.

I don't expect Bast's identity to remain secret for ever, as it could be put together jigsaw style. Psyte is a criminal and may recognise him from the Zig (especially supported by his mind powers), White Nightingale treated him in hospital and he has given some info to White Vampyr in private converstations. I suppose it depends on how interested the characters are in knowing who the masked mysteeryman, leading them into danger week after week, is.

(Finally, I'll change Carter's entry on the bible when I post the next update)

Suzanne Louisa White was born in Paragon City in 1980. Her father, Martin White, was a professional club singer who never had a record deal. Suzi's mother, Amanda White (nee Johnson), worked mainly in the service industry. Suzi had a single brother, Julian Vernon White, six years her junior, who died of an illness in 1991.

Amanda White suffered severe depression after the death of 4 year old Julian. In 1995 Amanda White was killed in a car crash. She had been drinking, and there were always rumours that her death may not have been entirely accidental.

Teenage Suzi became quite withdrawn at school, and took on extra responsibility at home to help her father cope. The relationship between Suzi and her father was very strong and close. Although Suzi was described as exceptionally bright, and her school grades were excellent, she did not stick at college and dropped out after 1 year.

Suzi regularly went to watch her father perform in clubs around the state. It was not a surprise to anyone that knew the family that she became a singer too.

Suzi's father died in 2001 of lung cancer, which many attribute to a lifetime spent singing in smokey clubs. Suzi, now without any family, threw herself all the harder into her work, becoming a very popular singer in the club circuit, an accomplished songwriter, and forming up with a band thereafter.

Her band, Gothic Overtones, got a record deal early in 2002, and produced 3 albums. Many compare their musical style to Evanescence, mainly for combining strong rock melodies with beautiful and haunting etherial vocals.

Suzi White's contract with label Surgin' Records expired 2 days before her apparent death in the hospital. Contract negotiations had been ongoing for some months prior to this, but there were apparently arguments over the conditions, where Suzi wished to retain artistic control over the material the band would perform, while management at Surgin' Records felt the band would be far more commercially successful if they used a team of writers and produced more mainstream and popular songs.

Suzi was believed to have died on the night of the incident. Medics had taken Ms White from her home after she suffered an extreme overdose of drugs. Her heart had ceased beating in the ambulance on route to hospital. A suicide note left in Suzi's appartment satisfied police that this was a case of depression-related suicide.

((If wanting to learn more about her character than most would know, please feel free to PM me regarding who you want to speak with about Suzi, and how you'll approach them, e.g. tracking down ex-bandmembers, roadies, teachers, or whatever.))

Thanks for that ammon. I'm going to put all these into "case files". So pritty much I'm going to make a text doument for each one of you, including myself. Each one is going to be a summary of what you write here. Would it make sense to post that on here, so you know jame's background, or not as he is the one doing the search's?

Also Ammon, I'll pm try to pm you tonight, if not tomorrow. Just to get a few more pieces of infomation.

I'd suggest building up a set of files at the Hyperion Forum that Gorbaz set up.

Not only should this include an official file on each member character, but should also expand to cover known facts about both friends and foes, individual and group.

This can help create a 'common knowledge' for players within the SG, and allow for easy reference, as well as being a reminder of what we know (and don't know) about various things with these characters.

((abridged version of post on the Watchmen Forum ))

After fighting alongside him over the past few weeks, it is apparent that Bastinado has advanced military training and some have wondered if he was special/black ops.
He secretive to the point of obsession. His voice is strained, as if he hasn’t spoken for along time, and it is impossible to place his accent beyond “American”.
Several survivors of the Rivera incident fit Bastinado’s description: white males in their mid to late thirties. However, further investigation will reveal that none of them have the expected military history. ((PM me if you intend to question medical staff specifically about whether there was a “soldier” being treated at the hospital)).
Anyone running background checks may surmise that Bastinado was either not at the hospital, he was for some reason not counted among the survivors, or his presence has been covered up.
One thing of note is the ubiquitous metal plate across his eyes. The rest of his costume is light weight military spec armour, which jars with the roughly constructed, slightly rusted, iron plate.

((I really don’t expect Bastinado’s background to be a secret for ever. It is up to the rest of your characters as to how comfortable they are being led by someone who refuses to reveal his identity. Perhaps at one point there will be a stalemate where he either has to leave the group or reveal who he is and face the consequences.
At the moment, this fact probably doesn’t stand out so much as both Psyte and Solar Flare wear masks and have yet to reveal much about themselves to other characters)).

I've put a background search file up on the other site with everything I think that people would know about High burn. Effectivly being homeless and jobless for a while would mean that there are few official records of her
