Simple problems we all face at some point or other
And your just saying its naff to sound like your really great =]
No, I know it's naff. Using a Tank/Emp combination to deal with Freakshow on the 'Dreck' map is highly ineffiecient compared to other combinations.
You simply can't kill as fast and those that Rez can complicate matters.
Yes but its easy for me n my mates to sit back n chat on skype whilst the invul/fire tank goes around doing a pretty god job rather than going over a whole palova of a spines scrapper followd by a kin and n empath
Hahaha, Scrappers.
Nope.
Well if you use controllers/defenders/blasters to do a dreck style mish that is just slow =]
Shall i set up a little topic in general discussion, this is ruining this guys thread by going off topic.
Sure, go for it. Don't think it'll end to well though.

that whole topic was hilarious.
I dont see how power levelling is a problem anyway, more of a hand.
People powerlevel everytime the xp weekend comes along.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
Great post Thundorn!
A very friendly, comprehensive and helpful guide for first time players and scrappers in particular.

That would depend on how you define powerlevelling.
The way I see it playing during the double xp weekend isn't powerlevelling.
A common definition is as follows:
"Powerleveling is most frequently used in multiplayer games, where it usually refers to a player that is of much greater power assisting a player of much lower power in defeating enemies that are far too powerful for the low level player, but are easily and quickly killed by the more powerful player. Defeating high level challenges rewards the lower level player with experience points more rapidly than normal. In general this is considered a form of cheating, or manipulation of the game system for unintended results." - Wikipedia
I stand by Thundorn's recommendation to avoid powerlevelling. You will learn far more about your character, the foes you face and the stories you battle through by not powerlevelling.
My main Bs/Regen scrapper, Steampunkette, took a little over 6 months to get to 50. Some of it was teaming, alot of it was solo, none of it was powerlevelled. The end result was a near full collection of completed storyarcs and a good working knowledge of the powers she uses and the foes she faced in her journey. She's not just another level 50 toon, she has a history of aceivements behind her. No amount of powerlevelling can replace that.
To me a powerlevelled toon is little more that a Paragon Protector in fancy dress. Formidable in combat but essentially shallow and valueless.
I'm quite proud of the fact that I've spent very little time with my main character in any kind of powerlevvling activities. I've done a large proportion of missions solo or in small groups, finding out what I can and can't take on with him, earning the accolades and exploring as much as I can!
If people do want to powerlevel, fair play to them, its their choice, but I would see a powerlevelled, as mentioned above as a mathematical solution, rather than a labor of love for their character. I dinged 50 a while ago now, and I'm still regularly in game with him, working on more SO's, badges and so forth because I still firmly believe that there are ways to push myself and my character further than they already are!

I'm trying to get back to the original intention of the post. This story matches about 99% of my own start in CoH, and I say 99% because I find Hover helpful (although I also had to respec Acrobatics from my SR scrapper). I think it is a good idea to do posts like this, they help make the start of the game easier. I would just add that when you ask for advice in a build, people can tell you either their own experience in a similar (or same) build or either what the build is supposed to deliver as per maths, however, bear in mind that the greatest build may be useless if it does not fit someone's playstyle and on the other hand, you may be able to turn a build that seems weak on paper into a great scrapper.-
