Aren't Carnie holds Psionic based? If so they'd get blocked by SR but not Ice Armor... not tested it personally.
You could use hold resistance (like the 50% ish from Acrobatics) to make multiple applications wear off sooner, increase your hold protection mag via Clear Mind/Clarity buffs or reduce the carnies' tohit chance.

Elude has psionic def too, but you won't evade a carnie hold on elude, try and see 
. I know it's supposed to be psionic, but, either it's untyped or there isn't psy defense at all in the game. A different thing would be, as said, debuff the toh chance, tho.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, elude only gives melee, ranged and AoE defence. It's quite possible that carnioe holds are tagged as sionic type, but not any position, and since elude doesn't give any typed defence, they go straight through it.
Maybe so, but they use blind, which on illu trollers is supposed to be categorised as 'ranged', and still they go thru elude as if it wasn't there in pvp, as does flash which is supposed to be, i think, aoe. Minerals seems pointless too, i can't recall having dodged a single carnie hold with it on. I don't know if the dmg vs a troller with psi epics or a DA scrapper would vary with psy dmg resist tho

You would think; last night a MI seemed to be hitting my Dark/Dark Corr quite happily through stacked Darkest Night, Fluffy's Chill of the Night and Fluffy's Darkest Night though.
After a few goes I turned down to Villainous, as I just couldn't solo the thing regardless of debuffs or insps.
I have never had probs with my super reflex against carnie. I just dont worry about them. Dark ring mistresses are probably the biggest worry..for my tank.
On my SR the shadow servants are the one thing i look at and think i better click elude before i start. The stacked DoT and my aid self simply doesnt work.

I got held yesterday by a Red Lost guy yesterday with frozen armour and wet ice running, was surprised i must say....
Carnie have stacked them on me, you can be more about defense so they have more of a chance of missing. Usually the moment they are stacked its a very fast lights out even with passives. Never if offered clearmind or one of the others say "save it for the other people thanks" they may be dead soon after ya. Everyone needs support sometimes. Its better to just accept it.
