Do drains work?

Hello,

I am new to the game and wanted to know if it is possible to make a build based on drains? Like tones of life drains (and others if possible, like end...).

Would it be a Dark/Dark build? Any suggestion on that, as I have no idea whatsoever how corruptors work?

Please note this is with a strong pvp perspective.

Thanks very much in advance for your insight,

nostra

HP drains are mostly poor powers. Endurance drain build is possible, but much easier to do in CoH than CoV due to the fact that there is no electric blast set in CoV. If one was going to make it in CoV, I'd go with either /kin corruptor or elec/elec brute.

I agree with Max here, HP drains are taken for their secondary effect rather than damage. I also agree that heroes can do endurance drain better. Cov kinetics get transference sooo late as well..

Heroes can´t do that better, they just have other options to do so, since they have Elec blasts and Elec Manipulation instead of Elec Melee and Elec Armour and since they have combinations of kin/* defenders and */kin controller while villains only get */kin corruptors. There are some who might try that on CoV, too, but apart from Elec/Elec brutes and */kin corruptors they are hardly "professionals". (That said, Elec brutes and /kin corruptors can be very effective end drainers.)
I could think of a high-level "emergency drainer" */psi dominator (because of Soul Drain) with Scirocco´s patron pool, but apart from that I doubt that end denial will work too good for many toons.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Kin/Elec/Elec defender.

3 Big end drains there, two of which being AoE. With the boosted speed that would be a damn sight more effective than anything a villain can pump out. Hero's do have more options for casual end drain and the best option for professional end drain. They dont have a pure melee character that can do it though, that's the villain edge

[/ QUOTE ]4 actually, the nuke drains 50%, with additional chance for two seperate 25% drains. (Against critters, less against players)

Ah, so the nuke is like the Rad one then, very friendly and a ton of effects

Thanks for the answers.

This is not very encouraging. What's the strong side of corruptors then? Is there a point in making one for pvp or should I stick with my ice/energy blaster?

Thanks

For PvP the Ice Secondary seems very nice, benumb is basically a targetting Anti-power boost with -regen in it too.

Having seen how a /cold corruptor can cripple an AV better than any defender I've teamed with I'd say that should work roughtly the same for PvP exceptg the other player might be more intelligent than the AI

there is no Cold defenders.

Scourge! IMO is far more usefull than having a lower end cost on big teams which is the defender inate
