Pvp build help for a rad/rad defender

Check the US boards, its one of the new fotms and everyone is starting theirs after seeing the effectiveness of a few people, I have one myself

Also its worth noting that some psi attacks bypass defence as are untyped (which is certainly a little unfair on SRs as its specifically says your defences work v psi, but hey, who beleives the power desciptions these days)

Nope but the players behind them do, and rad is always good and untyped (not classed as melee, aoe or ranged) and unresisted damage seems like a good idea to me .

And no offence but the US pvpers dick all over the EU lot, they take hardcore to another level and what becomes good over here was being played 6 months ago there. If they say its good I beleive them. Of course you could always get US codes and show your mettle over there, with what you consider to be strong builds, as opposed to being just about the only pvp sg with active players on union

unfortunately i cant afford to get my characters pl'd for me and dont have the time anymore to lvl characters, yea we are one of the few pvp sg's and we've always managed to dick over ur attempts to beat us so wud be funny to see what the all powerful americans do to u, but wait we use imaginary iops to beat u, no other way we cud beat ur bought hami-o'd up toons is there?

I dont put much sway in 1v1s anyway, as most people know some builds just dont cut it against others, and some cut it against most. Chilli's fire/rad only managed to kill my elec/em after burning all my break frees with 3 minutes to go (at this point I was winning), and Im struggling to imagine a rad/psi being more effective. I still think I could beat Chilli with the right set of insps and a bit of luck concerning the map (and i do mean just regular insps).

About the EU vs US thing. I cant really comment too well because I havent played there, but our pentad team destroyed absolutely everything the French could throw at us for a few months in a row, and they took it very seriously, but probably not as seriously as the americans. They also pl'd several different teams specifically to beat us and didnt even come close. Also, we've never once even used teamspeak. I think we could give them a run for their money.

Im not entirely sure why you feel the need to make a personal attack on me, my points were quite valid and (to me) non offensive. As for my attempts to beat "us" I am not sure what I as one person could do regardless of HOs. Besides which HOs dont make your characters stronger, in fact the opposite is true as the maximum you can extract from them is 33% as opposed to 38% for a +3. They do however allow you to free up a lot of slots, shove in more acc (than is considered norm) and have better end consumption at the expense of res, def and damage.

You seem to overstate your importance as beating you is in no way shape or fomr an aim of mine, I was merely stating a fact that the US is in a totally different league to the EU in all aspects amd are at the forefront of PVP. If you could take your SG and transplant it to the US i firmly beleive you would be given a short sharp shock as you will no longer house the majority of the pvpers on the server and the competition would be of a totally different level and mindset. Would you always get stuffed? no because I am confident in your ability to learn and adapt as I have never stated any of you as being bad players.

However as you are pvpers and the efforts you put in to get PVP going on the server seems to me that you would get a whole LOT more by creating/recreating new toons on the US as you wouldnt have to go far to find what you are looking for and would have the ability to make more interesting builds (2 hami raids in 4 hours the other night)

On champion I can level my concepts insanely quickly due to friends, people and the amount of HOs I can barter with, and thats where the majority of my 50s are, however I am now playing on freedom for the potentialy more numerouos pvp so whilst Im networking I ahve the same constraints as anyone else on a new server and yet still gound my way to several lvl 30s in a short space of time and Im confident that copetant players such as youselves can acheive and suppass this, its not like you dont know what you are doing is it? Nor is getting to 50 especially hard.

It is hard to go from the top of the tree to the bottom of the pile which is what a server change will do, however I strongly feel that the rewards would be there for you as well as multiplying your favourite aspect of the game (pvp) by a significant magnitude.

Think rad/psi sucks? go show them what works then.

IOPs? yeah I reckon you had them, not due to your "performance" but purely due to the fact that it is an obvious and easy advantage to apply on the test server.

we've never used IoPs purely cos we dont have a clue how to get them

as valens said we were undefeated against a lot of people from the french server so i believe we wud defo give them a good fight

other than that ur post actually made a whole lot of sense

While Rad/Psi is strong solo it's even better in team pvp, the unresisted -res powers defenders get are in another league compared to the controller -res stuff against highly resistant enemies (like granites for example). Actually I'm happy it's not quite like on the US servers here because their pvp seems to be gone to a leveling factory, it's just far from what I consider fun.

I also dont care much for 1v1, its too much like a number crunch and I like the variety and inherant chaos of more people which is why I play the zones (as the arena is usually dead and slow to organise)

The US have some odd builds and do pretty damn good things with them, I was on my ice/ss teamed with a ice/em and a rad/sonic defender attacked us and gave us a serious run for our money despite me perma taunting him. If it wasnt for aim/bu of the blaster and KO blows insane range we would ahve lost, a unusualy pvp configuration was used to great effect.

I dont think there is anything left for you guys to do on the EU servers anymore, really I dont. I think you would love a server transplant as would result in more challanges and open up the whole thinking aspect of pvp for you once again.

I think this would be what sparked the retaliation.

Although you have experience on both sides, you have never actually fought against us when playing as our proper team or much at all for that matter, so you shouldn't be so conclusive in your statements.

The other thing is that whenever we have fought, you have had a bit of a paddy about our use of teamspeak and IoPs, neither of which we have ever used.

I would personally love to have our team on the US servers and challenge anyone and everyone that wants a match, as it's so hard to come by decent team PvP over here. I'd actually be willing to transfer my main just to do this if it were possible. A few of us dont have much time for levelling anymore though, so we cant just start again over there im afraid

Again, no offence intended by any of that, lets keep things civil please

I dont doubt you would do well against the US once you ahve adapted to their setups and playstyle, but some of the things I ahve seen out there (especially on the hero side) is frightening, offenders are definately in

Im loving the variety and change, the lack of stalkers in every zone and hoards of corrupters rampaging through swarms of heroes

if we cud transfer to US i'd do it in a heartbeat, just dont no if I'd have time to lvl a toon over there but it is defo worth considering, the PvP in the EU is dying a slow death and the admin team over here dont seem to care very much, really how hard wud it be to organise a PvP event? if pvp'ers can manage it im sure they can, just putting a reds name on it wud make it much more popular

As an EU player I fully include myself and anyone I team with in the whole dicking comment, Im moderately competant on the EU, no where near the best but feel like a new born babe out there. Its just a whole new paradigm and I love it, its reinvigorated the game for me as the accepted norm for characters no longer exist (well ok ice/em still rocks but I prefer ice/elec personally)

And true I dont know how you would fare out there in actuallity but in your current incarnation and set up I would wager very heavily on the americans, the word hardcore doesnt begin to describe some of them, its more like a lifestyle (which is actually a bit sad) and I cant conceive of you guys sacrificing so much of yourselves over something that is a fun hobby.

And when we fought and when I have lost im not in the best of moods due to the competitive nature of the game and seek rationale from logical sources, IOPs should ahve been installed, TS should ahve been used. Personally I prefer zonal or random team arena events as the tribal mentality doesnt come to the surface so much.

there was the union heavyweight winning team of s4 which used cherry's rad/rad, of course pvp is in a whole different league now compared to then

Stalk, in all honesty I have no qualms with you but next time you might want to seek the logical explanation that opponent was better than you Its what I consider first myself, and then search ways to improve.

guys thanks for the response but i carried on my rad/rad defender a few more levels (only 12 ... but in 2 days dat not bad i rekon :P) and gotten all the debuffs, and 2 attacks - along with combat jumping for +defence - and iv found that i can solo +2s with 2bh ease :| dunno if this is just because theyr low levels but they are igenous's and wouldv thought that i wouldv gotten owned by them in 2 secs flat lol. So think ima carry on with the rad/rad defender to take him into sirens call and TRY show up some cocky brute hehe gotta be done :P

OK, one on one rad/rad is awesome. Anyone who thinks different should try facing teh fusion from time to time.

Now, as i'm a scientist, i'm going to educate some people..

Stating the Americans are better at pvp than us pitiful EU types is known as an Opinion.

Seeing us poor EU types getting mashed by the Americans would make that a Fact.

As the latter has NOT occured, we must all agree that this is just an Opinion.

Now the only Fact i have since discovered is; I was not impressed by the countless pvp videos the Americans have posted on youtube.

but maybe thats just my opinion...

also Stalk matey, gimme 30 hami-o's over losing a few percent anyday. God, imagine headsplitter with 3acc/dam+3rch/end red (dunno if there is such a thing)...

Also ED didn't kill slotting more than 3 types of enh completely if i'm correct? so losing a percent or two in a power can easily be made up by adding a couple of extra enh..

if theyre not that good, ill swap all my 53's for your hami-o's ...

well i dont tend to watch videos of someone else playing computer games so will ahve to take your word for it, I will reiterate my beleif that the americans will mash you silly, and I will reiterate what I said several times that this will be the case for a time Do i think you lack the ability to adapt? no.

But this is all largely irrelevant, as you are on the EU, I think you and your cohorts should come over and ply your trade, you would love it, the amount of pvp is awesome and I have no doubt you will learn. I mean really what are you going to learn on EU? Its been outgrown and you can only stagnate as opposed to continue to improve.

Put your EU account on hiatus, grab a code from plaync.com and log in, it really doesnt take long to get to 50 especially with people you know and depend on. You lose nothing as if its not for you you just come back, bring your toons and any HOs you get back with you. You have an opportunity to indulge in a whole lot more of what you enjoy as opposed to scrimping around for what little pvp you can find on the EU. Its a [censored] to lose the alts you spent so long building but its all lessons learned, my good stuff and HOs are on Champion but I am now playing on freedom just for the sheer numbers and PVP.
