Storm set Lighting Storm question

I've never gotten an answer to this but I've noticed that Lightning Storm takes Range enhancements. Since its a PB power for me to cast do these Range Enhancements affect the things max firing range?

I have one it it and it seems to be a bit better. Does anyone know if this is the case or is it just a random "Ooops, that power shouldn't take those enhancements" issue?

I've read that range enhancements do increase the firing range of lightning storm. I've never really seen the benefit of it though as it easily covers freezing rain, and thats where you want your mobs. Also it can only take 6 slots 3 of them are reserved for damage, 2 for recharge and one for end on my stormy so i haven't tested it.

I miss him in the weeping of the rain;
I want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from every mountain-side,
And last year's leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year's bitter loving must remain

Well it does lots of knockback, frequently it blasts everything out of FR and out its own range. So after the first few blasts it sits there and grumbles to itself a lot of the time.

I reckon I'll go with 3 dmg, 1 end red, 2 range. I'm a controller so I'm not so reliant on it but I'd like to get the ten blasts out of it when I do call it up.

Of course the wider range & Knockback might make it less useful, scattering the Mobs too far afield really.

A good idea if you have Hover is to summon the Lightning Storm directly above the mob, turning the knockback into knockdown.

AFAIK range enhancements only affects the range at which you can summon the Lightning Storm.

Which is 0! It appears over your head.

Thats why I posted this. If it was a ranged power like Freezing Rain it'd be obvious but its a PB power.

No worries. Before I got it I always thought it was ranged too.

It'd be such a sweet power if it was a ranged placeable. As it is normally I go for a TP -> Lightning Storm deployment, usually just on the opposite dide of the current group (followed by Hibernate if I'm showing off / low on End).

range does increase its max firing range, thats for sure. But i find the base range to be enough, as its a stationary pet, the base range is huge for lightening storm. Normally how i use it is to summon to point where a tank or in some cases i herd to.

or just cast it in mid air while combat jumping/super jumping, that's what I do.

it's best above the enemies, knocks them flat on their backs instead of miles away

Hmmm. I do have teleport so I might get away with Ceiling TPs & Thunderstorm indoors.

Cheers folks.

How does this work does anyone know? How severe an angle does it need to be to become knockdown instead of knockback. Logic says 45 degress, so the bolt has to travel further vertically than horizontally to its target. But we're talking about a lightning cloud summoning superhero so logic probably goes out the window

just make sure it's above them and then instead of being knocked miles away, they fall straight down and only a little bit away

Hmm if you have TP then it's nice to either put the storm up above the team and then put yourself behind the mobs with hurricane, or do the opposite and port behind the mobs to set up the storm and then back to the team with your hurricane, so that you get the most out of your storm and the knockback is working for you.

The former is riskier because you miss out on heals and buffs that are pbaoe and are a bit out on a limb at times. It can be better though because a lot of people knockback mobs and you're there to push them right back into the debuffs and your storm.

But like you said, it's not as big a focus on a controller. I went for 3 dam, 2 rech, 1 end on my defender as LS for me is more damage mitigation and damage and I want it available all the time with no hasten.
