The presence pool a possible must for MM in pvp?
I have been considering playing about with provoke and maybe tough on my MM for a while. I have decided that tough is being left for a different MM but provoke will be picked up after a respec.
My reasoning behind picking up provoke is the following:
6 pets in bodyguard mode = 75% resist to all damage types
Self defence buffs from FF set and my patron shield = about 30% def to smash leathal and energy. THis should mean that although I only have about 900 health I can tank more effectively than a brute assuming I have a corruptor with an area heal sitting beside me.
Personally, if they ever fix CoV so I can play it again, I was going to take provoke at 49 with my necro/dark to tank stuff.
I think that's they key.. aoe healing of your pets. Either yourself (/dark) or having a thermal (maybe rad or dark) corrupter next to you.
Add the thermal shields and your patron, i gues you can take alot of damage that way (high resist / 6 = puny dmg to the pets)

I know, was refering to the thermal shields to your pets and additional the patron on you. Means both you and your pets can take high damage.

I'm gonna be taking Presence at 41, I've decided it's vital for PvE more than anything, to keep the mobs attacking me. It'll be good for PvP too, since more and more people are attacking the pets for once (there are still plenty of people who go straight for the Mastermind though).
After meeting Master Zaprobo on test and checking out bodyguard mode plus bubbles i have to say i was most impressed and i consider taunt quite a good idea pvp/pve however i may leave it till RV time.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
Anyone know for sure how defence works with body guard?
Is it:
1) Only the MM's defence counts
or
2) MM's defence works out whether the attack hits the pets defence works out whether the attack damages them
hmmmm just checked the differences between the 2 not sure what would be better a taunt with an area of affect that needs an accuracy check (provoke) or a single target taunt that has no need for an accuracy check and has a fast recharge (challenge)
EDIT: doh hero builder lied to me looks like both taunts require acc check, think ill go for the single target one since it has faster recharge
I'm pretty sure only the defence of the MM counts.
Right from what ive tested so far with my robot dark mm with the patron shield and bodygaurd mode on my defense seems pritty solid as for the taunt its self i need 1 or 2 more taunts in it till becomes alot more effective since i cant seem to hold aggro for too long. But overall a pritty solid defense
Just had a thought the other day after playing with my sg with my mm in a pvp match, Masterminds are good at tanking that is untill all the pets die, but what better way to keep people from attack the pets i thought, the presence pool. So my question is do you belive having either provoke or challenge would be a good idea and whats the difference between the two of them?
