Energy Melee / Electric Armour Build

Hello everyone, below is my build Energy Melee/Electric Armour Brute currently at level 22 and I can say so far getting Total Focus at 18 made this brute a monster, can’t wait for Energy Transfer! The slotting below reflects what it will be after I get Power Sink. At the moment I have endred’s in all of my attacks.

This Brute will be used for PVP in all the zones, badge hunting and PVE.

Could I have your feedback please?

Fly and Grounded don't play well together

I wouldn't put all those th_buff's in build up.

Fly = travel power intended to get to mission, not used much when on mission (well my flyers don't use it in missions much except for those horriblly huge CoT caves)

Air Superiority = one of the best rear end planters in the game, removing a boss etc from combat by knocking him to the ground.

I can see why he took it and the reasoning behind it, and know why.

Incidentally your comment could also be used for Super Jump and Teleport, its the pool power he wanted, so the travel power came to save a slot.

Ok my brute is now at level 29 and a half, in my build I factored in Hasten at level 30. Now I am considering dropping it in favour of the Fighting pool - Boxing at level 30 and Tough and level 41.

What would people’s advice on this be?

I have copied in my build in below - its anything post 29 that I am unsure about: -

You could take web envelope instead and switch from flying to jumping. CJ + hurdle = fast combat movement, and you can still bring down flyers (ranged even).

I know its just personal taste, but i wouldnt go for fly. as brute you need to be as fast as possible, keeping up fury and hunting down enemies. fly is just too slow. EM provides enough dps, you dont need air sup for the extra damage, and you got -fly in web envelope. i would rather get superjump (2x jump) along with hurdle, to reach those escaping flyers and bring down with web envelope.

of course theres nothing wrong with fly. you can still fly after them and hit them hard in the air =)

ive got a similar build, and i was wondering whether the numbers in the planner are correct. according to the planner the res is
41% s/l
41% fire/cold
97% energy
35% negative
41% psi

looks like pretty high res for me. adding tough makes results in 59% s/l, more than a /inv. my build included aid self (3x intredux), /ela has got res(slow), res(tp), res(end drain), end drain, high end recovery (2,040 all toggles) and it seems like its going to be an unstoppable killing machine ...
wheres the downside?

No self heal or +Def in the set.

Both are major holes that decrease survivability without outside assistance.

[/ QUOTE ]Bringing down fliers isn't what AS is used for, it's the 100% guaranteed knockdown.

PVE would become much slower without Air Sup. 99% of bosses spend 99% of their time on their behind which means they are not hitting me. Maybe when I hit 50 and do nothing but PVP i'll respec out of the fly pool and into the leaping pool. But at the moment Air Sup is too valuable.

Take aid other and aid self instead of box and tough.

I've the same brute but 38, I think you will use EndRdx on your attack powers (Total Focus ^^ maybe 2 EndRdx), and slot with more DmgRes and Def the PowerSurge. The resistance of Electric Armor is weak, and you will probably take Though if you want resist a little.

The Lighning field is very good to take aggro and has good hit point (but high Endurance consommation 2 EndRdx slots) , I prefer take it earlier to save the corrupts and other AT in my group

Hi, the res of the Elec set I think is awesome, with SO's he'll have 40% res against all except energy which is 95% and neg which will be 35% or there abouts. If you put on power surge with 1 SO in Res he'll cap out in all except Psi which isn't affected by powersurge, so far from being weak it's probably better than unstoppable in the Inv set as his base figures with his other shields are higher to start with.

Posted

Yeah, of course with power surge your shield is not weak but without...

I'm not sure about the statistics you found on the COH/COV builder i suppose, it seems to me that my stone brute (95% Res) has more res than my elec brute with powersurge (only one slot res because I'm 38). But it's hard to compare not the same regen not the same level and often not the same mobs :-).

Nah, stone brutes in granite dont get 95% res m8, Granite gives a base of 37.%5 which with 3 SO's will give u 58.5% res. With stone skin and tough you can get S/L into the 80's, i think about 87%.

It's still enough to tank with but only 75% of what tanks get, but you still have the tank res cap. The 22.5% Def from granite with 3 SO's in helps a lot as well, loadsa Deflecteds above your help.

With a /sonic or /thermal you should be able to reach close to the caps, but I prefer a /kin, especially for Longbow Balista EB's, if they've got ID slotted with 3 res you got pretty close to the res cap for smashing and energy, which is of course a Balistas attack form lol, and the SB and FS come in handy lol.

0% toxic you forgot.

LOL, bit like most of the rest of the armour sets then, Dark gets Toxic, and Inv gets a bit on Unyeilding and if you take Resist Elements u get a bit more, the Brute/Tanker self heals give them a bit more, but the only sustainable high toxic res comes from Granite in the stone set.

3 slotted powersurge is
82% lethal
82% smashing
82% cold
177% energy
82% fire
153% neg energy
82% toxic

And before anyone says 'why waste 3 slots ?' its for the 82% toxic res.
And this might i add is before the other shields are added in so its well over the brute 90% cap with psi res thrown in which is more than granite.
