Looking for a decent supergroup

I created my first alt on Union the other day and I'm getting fed up with random SG invites from ppl that don't even bother to /t me - including one which popped up in the middle of my screen during a mission and killed me

I'm fed up of this already (sooo rude) so I need an easy going SG - preferably 30+ members. Toon is an Ill/Rad troller, anyone want me?

Cheers folks

Check us out...www.mox.eu.com. Make a post on the forums and we'll arrange some teaming sessions with you....that way, we can check you out and you can check us out

We are a multi-game clan with a big CoH following....but most significantly, we let our members play the game the way they want to play it. If you want to get involved in organised events then you can...if you just want team members on tap then thats fine too...

Art of War are always looking for new members. We are into PvP (Arena, Base Raids, Zones) but we also do PvE and have our own Teamspeak server. Sign up on our forums and post, then we'll get in touch with you in game and give you a trial.

The Super Union are also looking for more members.

We're mostly PvE with maybe 1 PvP day a week (although that may change as far-seer is getting more involved in the arena)

Some of us are also avid badgehunters with the leader far-seer being 3rd top in Union for badges (308) and we frequently organise Task Forces

Also on a side note we have a fully raidable base complete with hospital, portals and CoP trial we hope to do soon

You know what's strange, I found that when creating an alt on Union, this would happen constantly. Like people sitting in atlas watching for new arrivals, or searching for people in outbreak and blind inviting them.

Bloody annoying.

Then the other week I created a toon on defiant with a mate. We got to level 10 with zero blind invites. Zilch. Once we had a tell from someone asking if we were after an SG, but no immediate follow up invite.

It was great, I was quite surprised, I thought that these blind invite people would exist on both servers, but it appears that I might have been wrong about that.

We created our own SG at 10, although we were tempted to just go on without it and see if we ever got a blind sg invite.

Strange huh?

Shrug.

I think you were just a tad lucky. Before i moved to union i used to get constant blind invites to SG's when making a new alt on Defiant also.

I agree it's bloody annoying I'm mean c'mon... who's going to join a supergroup that invites every tom dick and harry they see? These types of people are in it for the prestige and the prestige only with no interest in creating a supergroup where everyone gets along and everyone gets something out of being in the SG.

/e slap comes in handy for these occasions

Absolutely agree with that...well said that man

Huh,
I`m a complete total noob in CoH and I was so happy some days ago when I was invited to join a SG.

By what you`re saying it seems that I was not so "lucky"...

I`ll see in the next few nights how it goes: but please meanwhile clarify one thing.

What`s the purpose of creating a Supergroup and then inviting "random" people in besides doing stuff (PvE, PvP, collections, etc.) together ?

Since this is not so clear to me yet, I just accepted thinking I was lucky to get recruited in a SG (you know... new friends, people with wich do stuff together, etc.).

Now you make me worry: is there any other reason I was invited in ?

Before being invited into an SG it is common sense to at least team with the person in question. See if there play style fits in with you and the rest of your SG....test the water so to speak.

As to the purpose of a Supergroup, at its most basic level it's team members on tap...team members whose abilities and playstyles are familiar to you. Going up the scale SG's can be attached to websites, forums and the like, a few, like MoX and AoW have teamspeak servers. At its peak, an SG is a community of friends who are all working for the same goal...enjoyment of this game.

I think 99% of the SG's who blind invite you are just one guy who wants to play with bases

You can usually recognize such SG's if the MOTD is along the lines of "KEEP SG MODE ON AT ALL TIMES!!!1111"

hey BaH, well you could always come and join the 1AT community. We'r a friendly bunch of active players.
We have our own forums - Clicky - 1AT Forums

We've set up Sg's for each CoH AT -

Blaster - Precision Rangers
Controller - Union Overlords
Defender - SNHS
Kheldians - Cosmic Justice
Scrapper - Team GBH
Tanker - Armoured Core.

Then have coalitioned them all. Hence a very active and busy community.

Feel free to come and join the boards and say hello. If ur illu, then obv Union Overlords is the place for you.
Post in their section of the forums and try and wrangle urself a place.
Unfortunately i believe that UO MAY well be full at the moment, but the leaders are very good, and should b having a spring clean constantly so places do free up.
We allow cross-SG alting, hence u could have an AT in each SG, so if you wanted to expand ur Union experience, you can do so

We often have theme nights (AV bashing, lowbie night, All-Def/Cont/Scrapp Nights), which are obv all optional.

Hope to hear from you. If you (or anyone else for that matter) has any questions, just PM me, or reach me ingame on @Amazing Shnyet.

Dont agree with that completly. In an idea world then yes it would be great to get to know the person and team with. I suppose it all depends on what your goals for your sg. Some people only invite you to a sg once they have teamed with you on several occaisions and have got to know you better. Others have restrictions such as only good mates only etc. For my current sg there isnt any real restrictions - you can join us and we take it from there. This way you get a much better idea - you can see exactly how many members there are and how active they are.

It is also worth bearing that it is fairly competitive out there and the longer you leave it, the more chance they will join someone else. However agree about the blind invite bit - can be very annoying and normally wont say to much about the sg i.e. is probably very desparate for members and prestige.

I've teamed with people so BAD at this game that I would never even dream of /sginvite-ing them...or people so selfish in the way they play the game that they would never fit into the SG ethic...

Personally I would much rather see how a person plays before I invite them...usually a good solid hour of teaming is enough to make an informed decision.

No, you want the COV method of inviting peeps to an SG:

Pick a person at random, preferably at level 1, and blindly invite them to your SG without a tell first. Then when that person has joined another SG, still proceed to invite them to yours, even though you havent ever teamed with them.

Sounds good to me!!!!

Ahhh, I feel so loved

Don't mind if people /t me about their sg's so much, it's the blind sg invites that are annoying. Blind invites to teams bugs me enough to make blind sg hurt my head.

Thanks for the various offers guys

The SG I'm part of has something along those lines as a message, only less CAPS. That said, it's only been going for about a month, and we wanted/needed things like a medical bay and such.

Most of the people in it have only played for a couple of months at best. I think newer groups kind of need a MOTD like that (only more friendly) until they can get off the ground.

That said, the majority of the group are all friendly and helpful. It's not just one guy who wants an awesome base, so he can be the best. That kind of thing is silly.

As for invites, I got invited after a long teaming, and I only invite others if I've got on with them in a team or just chatted to them on several occasions. A couple have been new, and the SG can help them with the basics if I'm not around. (Not that I'm a veteran).
