Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the RP situation on Defiant and Union is generally regarded as the 'unofficial' RP server. That's not to say there isn't any RPing on Defiant, of course.
Should you wish to join us on Union, there's a nightly RP meet in Galaxy City at 9pm. Feel free to drop by and say hi to whoever's there and, given your character concept, Red Commissar may be a good person to start with.
This is far from the only RP venue/group available but is the mostly easily found and widely known about one.
Other than that, keep an eye on this Roleplaying forum and don't be afraid to ask questions here or in the New Player section (depending on relevance, of course).

Edit: Hmm... sorry, I just realised that I never answered the question that Coila (below) talks about. Try this . Might help make more sense of the CoX universe.
I might be totaly wrong as i "just"started to realy lookup things .(i usaly avoit subjects i simply dont know ooc/ic)
but as far i know CoX world is about a exsact copy of that we live in RL..only real chance is the hero part and the invasion.
as far i know paragon is located in the USA ..
if you look on the main site you find a ling to a time line
it explains a bit what things went diferent in aspect to how it RL went

Thanks guys for the response. That timeline helped clear a good few things up. And as much as I'd hate to divide my attention from Comrade Sergej, I might just end up creating another "Comrade" on the Union server then. Seeing that it's an rp server.

If you have a comrade you might want to look up Red Commissar and his group Workers of Eastern Europe. As the name suggests your chosen consept would no doubt fit in just nicely.
I believe it's been mentioned that Paragon City is located on East Coast, somewhere nearish to Washington. However of that I am by no means certain. If there's an official map or something set in concrete I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks for the tip. I skimmed through a few more posts on the forum and I just finished writing a new post concearning(sp?) my comrade's SG affairs on the Union server contra Defiant.

I've been roleplaying offline for about half my lifetime, mostly offline then although online rp:ing has come crashing down on my spare-time in the later years. I've played swedish version of Dungeons & Dragons called "Drakar och Demoner"(translates to "dragons and deamons" for you non-swedish speaking ppl), another swedish rpg called Mutant, Call of Chthulu, Vampire TM and I've begun to look into the remake of the classic Kult.
I've dabbled in text-based online roleplaying in a rp-chatroom hosted by a swedish LARP group called "Syskonskapet".
The last year has been spent on and off both RP- and PvP-servers in World of Warcraft and now I've landed here in CoH/CoV after an unhealthy dose of WoW causing me to tire a tad of the game.
So, here I am ready to explore rp:ing in this game.

Yes, we're on Union and you're very welcome to join this Thursday. We have two full teams and are forming a third but one of our players will not be with us this week so you can take his slot. Your character will need to be about lev 7 by Thursday to match the rest of us. On Tuesday, at 7pm to 7.15pm a couple of us are going to try to meet up to get form lev 5 to 7; you're welcome to join us. We will be meeting in Atlas under the statue of the female hero who looks as though she's reaching for the stars. Post on the "IC team up session" thread the name of your character and we'll keep a look out for him/her. Oh, and could you post a bio on The Militia thread when you get chance please. Any questions please post on the IC team up thread, we're a helpful bunch.

Most of what happened in Russia has been duplicated in Paragon Earth.
Actual history only really mentions the 'Red Threat' who controlled Russia up until Glasnost when he was beaten by Numina and Swan (I think).Linky
My own history has Baba Yaga involved, but only to a small extent. As for contacts, only Boris the Russian (Villains) and the bearded guy over near Skyway(can't remember his name) have any trace of USSR/CCCP.
No idea about the Russian part of the world history, but Paragon City is in Rhode Island State, USA.
At least, at some point that was where we figured out that's where it should be, and the laws we look at if we're curious.

Greetings fellow roleplayers.
I'll start with a short introduction of myself. I am new to CoH, very familliar with roleplaying(10+ years offline rp:ing) and very curious about the rp scene in this game.
My main and basically only char worth mentioning(sp?) is known as "Comrade Sergej", a lv15 AR/dev Blaster.
Now onwards to the actual question:
My char comes from a country very simillar to the old soviet union. I haven't done any research I find it easier to just ask(I apologize for the bad netiquett) but I am assuming that Paragon City is located in a fictional country(not only a fictional time/era) and if so does a fictional equivalent to former soviet union exist? And if so What is it called.... That's kinda good too know if you want to have a char from there.
Well I hope to meet you all someday in the game, I am on the Defiant server and I hope my question isn't too n00bish/stupid.
